MIAMI (AP) — Donald Trump said Thursday that he has been indicted on charges of mishandling classified documents at his Florida estate, igniting a federal prosecution that is arguably the most perilous of multiple legal threats against the former president as he seeks to reclaim the White House.

The Justice Department did not immediately publicly confirm the indictment. But two people familiar with the situation who were not authorized to discuss it publicly said that the indictment included seven criminal counts. One of those people said Trump’s lawyers were contacted by prosecutors shortly before he announced on his Truth Social platform that he had been indicted.

They are trying to subvert the Supreme Court. Subvert our electoral college. Federalize elections !

They are slandering entire groups of Americans who don't support them politically.

They are woking/creating serious division in our military.

If we can't stop it in 2024, it's lost. Our control over our destiny is gone.

On and on it goes - but it keeps growing overt now. It is that powerful.

America is dangerously close to murdering/destroying political oppoents at their whim. They have the rest of the deep state in place to cover for them, protect them.

ByDon said way back he would be lucky if it turned out to be Cheetos again. Walt Nauta, an aide to former President Donald Trump, has been indicted in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the mishandling of classified documents from the Trump White House, two sources familiar with the indictment tell CNN.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the indictment.

Nauta’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The investigation resulted in charges against 34 individuals and 3 companies, 8 guilty pleas, and a conviction at trial.
