So, we now have another generator that can run our fridge and freezer at the same time. You don't want to lose all your food when the shelves go a lot empty. Honda's are very expensive. Firman's are much better priced, dramatically. If you get one with an inverter and an eco switch - they are a lot quieter. Go buy a tub or two of Crisco or a Walmart brand shortening. Note the flame above the "I". Take a stick candle and cut it so the tip is just above the level of the shortening and stick it down the middle of the shortening. Now you have a candle that will bur 8 hours a day for several months. A big can might last 3-4 months. Get a terracotta flower pot and put it upside down over the top of the can, leave hole on bottom open for air, and you now have a heat source that does a good enough job to warm up a small area just enough you aren't totally freezing. I have 5 cans sitting on the shelf. I am set for over a year of light if I burn 1 at a time.. Just be careful when you get down to the end. Crisco doesn't come in metal cans anymore. Just pick up a can here and there, it doesn't go bad, and you are going to have light and at least a little heat. You probably already have the candles. You can rig up a car battery and a power inverter and even run your furnace in an emergency. They sell solar car battery chargers at Harbor Frieight for 30 bucks. Wire a couple of Optima batteries in parallel and you could power a few LED light for weeks or maybe run the blower on your furnace for 8 hours. No fumes, no threat of fire.
