January 3 - BALLOT #3 goes on ..... McCarthy headed for another big  LOSS.

The GOP can't get their stuff together.    Almost  ZERO  mention of  DJT.

This is history.    :D

Not really funny.   It shows what a circus this congress is.  They can't accomplish a fucking thing.

They don't want to accomplish a thing. Totally out-of-touch with the middle class, influenced by super PACs.

Send 'em a message this November, get a 3rd party President elected.

BALLOTT  #3  LOSS for McCarthy,  House adjourned until noon Wednesday.   No apparent plan in place.  Another loss for DJT backed candidates.

Fast Facts

  • The House GOP Conference met at 9:30 a.m. ET to hear McCarthy’s final appeal.

  • McCarthy needs 218 votes to become speaker. Republicans will seat 222 lawmakers, so McCarthy can leave only four GOP minds unchanged.

  • McCarthy failed to secure the necessary 218 votes to be the next House speaker in the first vote.

  • The House of Representatives leadership election went to a second ballot for the first time since 1923 after no candidate secured the 218 votes necessary to be elected House speaker.

House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy failed to reach 218 votes in the third round of voting for House speaker on Tuesday, and watched Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio pick one vote.

McCarthy won 202 votes to Jordan’s 20 votes. That was one less for McCarthy and one more for Jordan, thanks in part to Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., who flipped to Jordan after having voted for McCarty in the first two votes.

Democrat Hakeem Jeffries of New York won 212 votes again, also short of the 218 needed to win the gavel.

The slight increase for Jordan is part of the plan by members of the House Freedom Caucus, who are hoping to create the appearance of eroding support for McCarthy and boost momentum for Jordan.

The result set up required fourth vote in the House, which is likely once more to feature McCarthy and Jordan as the only two choices for speaker from the GOP side. Voting will continue until one candidate reaches a clear majority of voting members.

I get the dissenter's complaints, but voting against McCarthy is stupid -

coward McConnell set the stage for anger - he won't fight for what's right,

he'll go along the vicious corrupt left/dems.

McCarthy needs to be a hell of a lot tougher a fighter than what he has shown in the past.

but voting against him is stupid. They have made their point.

Lol...you have a point. Although I did rip up my D card due to a number of issues that pissed me off.

Yeah it's a real shame what's happening especially at the federal level.  Biden & crew seem more willing to help foreign nations than US taxpayers. Republicans win the House and 19 or 20 Rs are holding their own party hostage.

I don't know what is causing all this dysfunction, but my guess is money. I actually am watching Fox News now (crazy, I know, but I had to turn MSNBC off it was worse), and Lauren Bobert explained why this McCarthy was a "no Vote."

In general, it's such a mess. I don't know how hardcore Ds & Rs can put up with their own parties anymore.

This just looks like the GOP can't get it's   "House "  in order,  no Speaker plan, a lot of infighting never good.   They won the House   -but-   can't agree on a Speaker to replace Nancy Pelosi how embarrassing.

I wish for the county's sake that   both   parties could and would become more civilized and professional about doing the nation's business.

This is history in the making, have your kids, grandkids and others pay attention to what is going on.

OTH, the likes of John Boehner, Paul Ryan loom in history as being lily livered cowards. McConnell fits right in with that, too.

McCarthy is a lot like them, sometimes. If he were speaker, he'd be like them, maybe.

They don't care about doing what is right and honorable - they care to do nothing out of fear of losing their position, and getting the leftwing mafia-like "dem" party on their case.

or the fbi. etc etc. fake witnesses who lie, fake prosecutions with no evidence, slurring their families....... all the way to reps in the WH and the Supreme Court.

they play a very dangerous, vicious game.

According to the article you posted, McCarty is a demonrat kiss ass, or as they put it, a "Demonrat lite".

The GOP is all flash and noise, but it doesn’t have the willingness to fight meaningfully against a Democrat Party that has become unquestioningly radicalized. McCarthy is, for all intents and purposes, a perfect reflection of the Republican Party as Gaetz described.

I would send money to Bernie Sanders if he ran as a third party candidate.

Sanders Cortez would be a ticket that would get the socialists off the fence.

So the 19 or 20 Freedom Caucus Rs aren't radicalized? They've got some crazy demands.

It will probably never happen due to the outlandish money both parties have, but the nation should consider non-partisan primaries at the very least. Maybe that could weed out the extremists on both sides...they are the ones holding DC & the nation hostage.

No they are not. Not even close. What was once in the middle has gone left. Adhering to basic conservative principles is now what you people call "radical".

What position of theirs would you consider radical? Being anti baby killer? Securing the border?

The "motion to vacate" specifically. Totally unreasonable for a leader to agree to.

And don't lump me into "you people," you don't even know me.

When you gerrymander districts where one party can't lose, you get far right and far left people in DC.

I thought mccarthy would get tough, but he won't. So, I change my mind and say to vote AGAINST mccarthy.

I'm sick of the cowards and the rinos.

Crazy demands? Like what? And, like I would ask anybody else, chapter and verse please. I haven't really heard anything crazy or radical. Maybe there's something I'm not aware of.

Boebert came across as unhinged tonight.

I give her credit for her passion but I'm surprised this Freedom Caucus gives her the microphone so much. She's the R version of AOC
