I fully expect things to change during the midterms, especially the way the Dems have fucked everything up in such a short amount of time. Both parties are trash at it. The DNC conspired against Bernie, someone that could have maybe actually moved us in the right direction. I'm not defending the Dems here at all. The elite run both parties. The Reps are very clearly more pro rich though and they find ways of fooling some rural blue collar worker in Arkansas into supporting a billionaire tax break because he's foolish enough to think it will trickle down or that he could be a billionaire some day. JAFBF
Just more inflation fuel Student Loan forgiveness (still Tax impacts - maybe higher bracket) is the same . . . also more division (weird, sounds like an Obama tactic). 0 the Hero - right ?

The Cysko Kid
Student loans receieved by boomers, gen x, and millenials aren't the same. Adjusted for inflation most boomers incurred less than $10,000 debt for college period. These days a single semester might cost more than a boomer's 4 year degree. The system is rigged against everybody now in a way that it wasnt when boomers "pulled themselvesup by their bootstraps! Derp-der-der!" Fair warning to the boomers: Dont come crying to us to help you out when you're eating cat food for dinner. We wont be able to subsidize you. Let's face it except for a handful of kids and hardcore socialists Bernie didn't stand a chance in hell. And the kids traditionally don't go to the polls. Even if they change the requirements it's still almost impossible to get them off the couch. They wanted a member of the ruling class I.E Joe or Hillary or whoever the hell. Same thing with the Republicans that's why so many of them are fighting tooth and nail against the guy that made them look like idiots. Unlike the Democrats and Bernie Sanders the Republicans didn't really try to sabotage Trump during the primaries. Why? They didn't think he had a chance. Sure you can pretend Republicans are out for the rich kind of a silly notion but it is an age-old cliche. And it's less valid than the idea that the Democrats want to help minorities. They don't give a damn about minorities they care about power. I realize I've veered away from the main point, sorry. WSS

My first year of college tuition cost roughly $3500, but when you’re only making $2.65 an hour, that’s a hefty price tag. But the cost of college over the last 20 years or so has ballooned way out of proportion. Some of these kids would be better off going into the trades. It isn't just one or the other. "College is a resort" depends greatly on where you go and what you study One of the reasons the cost has gone up some much is schools bring in the amenities. As for the loan forgiveness, I would rather have volunteer time required or like required. Doesn't even have to be a lot, but something. https://www.forbes.com/sites/caranewlon/2014/07/31/the-college-amenities-arms-race/?sh=e7a42034883c A free movie theater. A 25 person hot tub and spa with a lazy river and whirlpool. A leisure pool with biometric hand scanners for secure entry. A 50 foot climbing wall to make exercise interesting. And a top-of-the-line steak restaurant with free five course meals. This isn’t a list of items from a resort brochure. They’re facilities you can find on a college campus. And with college construction costs rising, it could be the best four-year getaway you've ever had. In 1995, American colleges spent a total of $6.1 billion annually on construction projects, according to a study by College Planning and Management. It peaked at $15 billion in 2006. Spending dipped after the recession, but costs have been on the rise—culminating in $10.9 billion in 2013. This is from 2014, I'm guessing it hasn't gotten better.
