That's a pretty popular theme in some motion pictures, the poor people getting run out of their slum neighborhoods as developers come in. And that's not shocking. But hey play the race card if you have one in your hand. Seems like they are better off then if they would be if it were poverty stricken drug dealers moving in. Of course Mexico doesn't shovel a ton of free s*** to their immigrants.

LOL! I once heard a tourist couple visiting a post office in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela trying to buy some of their very beautiful stamps. When the local postal workers had no idea what they were asking or saying, the Americans raised their voices thinking maybe their English would be understood if they just raised the volume. The original Ugly American, a concept that has been known in Latin America for quite some time (this was around 1961). So of course I stepped in with my newly acquired Spanish (which was still in it's flawed infancy) and managed to calm down both sides of that "conversation" and assist both parties with the intended transaction. It was appreciated by all concerned parties.

I suspect that the above type of encounter is what also pisses off the Mexicans. I can tell you that in my trips to Mexico, including a driving trip to Teotihuacan in the 90's, the fact that I was using my rusty Spanish at all times got us a lot of extra help not normally reserved for American tourists, including a special excursion down into a current archeological dig to see a newly uncovered wall mural some 2000 years old.

Yes I did. Americans who don't try to learn the language and try to make Mexico into Little America manage to piss off the locals. This is no different from America as each new wave of "foreigners" have immigrated here over that last couple hundred years.

Most people who have been to Mexico have found there are a lot more English speakers than expected. It makes sense keeping in mind the amount of money that comes from tourism.

ps in the United States using a dual language isn't because anybody loves Mexicans but because they think there's profit to be made.

I don't recall anyone defending criminals who come here to extend those careers. However I have defended those who even as I type are a bicycle ride away working hard to build several dozen homes at a time in Sun City. Saw several out there on every home this morning on my ride and some even had the audacity to play Mexican music on their car/truck radios so they could hear it from the street. Don't they realize there are Americans who need a good raping rather than doing tough construction jobs in 100F + heat all day?

LOL! You won't find too many "American" workers picking fruit & vegetables or working on these construction crews on housing builds. And the ones not paying taxes are the American builders who own the construction companies they work for. They pay a lot under the table at reduced wages so they make more money on homes they sell.

So what you're telling me that the hotel clerks, cooks, waitresses, custodians, entertainers, table dealers paid no income taxes on their earnings? Thats harder to swallow than a Hindu eating a hamburger.

Remember, the idea is to run a legitimate business. Paying employees under the table to avoid taxation wouldn't be very smart.

That's the owners responsibility.  Shouldn't grow them if they can't hire legal workers.  Illegal is illegal.  I guess you are too blinded by socialism to see that these people are here illegally.  And most are criminals or welfare (people looking for a free handout).
