This is a bad place for a must win game but if they go 2-5 into Denver next week it's pretty much wait until 2020 for the playoff talk.

I know, and I hate to say it, but we lose and that's pretty much the end because the Ravens are bringing it right now and we can't catch them.

I have only bet on games twice,  both times when I was in Nevada...as that was the only place legal at the times I was there:

Once, I was in Tahoe,  it was 1999, first season the Browns were "back".  Bet 5 bucks on them....they lost the game when Akili Smith did the only positive thing in his career and led the Bengals to a last second victory.  However, I did win the bet as the Browns "covered".  I never cash in the ticket. It would have only been for like 5 bucks.  It still sits in my scrapbook of that trip......

Does that count?

Does that count? Yes but you bet like my wife she bets, wins, quits.   All of us guys "let it ride" and lose..... eventually.

You are a wise bettor.

And casinos make a LOT of money over a years time on amateur bettors who win and keep the tickets  -or-. keep casino chips as souvenirs and take them home especially the bigger amounts (like me from several places).  That's another reason why you don't play with cash at the tables also chips don't really feel like money and you don't realize how much you are really playing....and losing.  If you were throwing $100 bills down you might not be so gung-ho.

Some people who go to the Kentucky Derby also tend to do that rather than cash them in.

Just curious how many of you out there place bets at a casino sportsbook or local bookie or online or just among friends?

Do you bet a lot, occasionally, rarely or not at all?   Do you play pickems, survival or other fantasy sports?

Do you bet on Cleveland or maybe only on Cleveland or never Cleveland?

Do you ever win?  .        And of course any other related sports betting stories.

Gambling is one vice I don't have.👍

I prefer just calling my bookie anyway.

And, do you do that....or are you all talk?

Gip I could tell you some incredible stories about being 18 and working in a steel mill in Youngstown Ohio in 1969 with bookie runners all over and at every bar in town. Plus I was making good money, full time tuition at YSU was $150 a quarter which I could easily do out of one paycheck.  Plus two of my uncle's had dance joints/bars and my family was involved in politics. Oh and I knew all of the cops.

I was in my first real bookie joint in Girard Ohio with a kid I grew up with who was a first team All Ohio DE and played football in the BIG TEN that was 1970, he had connections.  Oh and it was in my first Vegas style all night gambling joint in Niles Ohio where I grew up with him, free food and drinks and big screen TV and the tables were PACKED all night.  Oh it was a mob run "social club" with BINGO downstairs for the grandma's and wives.

I knew lots of bookies and numbers runners and my most recent one is really cool my wife and I go over there for steak cookouts.

I will say that the bookies were hit when the Ohio Lottery came in and will be hit worse when sports betting is wide open.

Oh and all bookies operate like this, football two rules 1. if you hit you collect and 2. if you lose you pay (no questions). On the bug (numbers) if you hit big the runners get 10% and no W-2G in the mail.  ;)

I've lived an interesting life.  :)

Its called "being smart"

You are a wise bettor.

I am sure their profit margin soared when I didn't cash in the like 3-5 dollar ticket.  You know, if the Browns had actually won that game I may have cashed it in. But I was pissed about the way the game came out...so I didn't bother.

-or-. keep casino chips as souvenirs and take them home especially the bigger amounts (like me from several places).

I may have kept like a $1  chip.  nothing big.

I never really play the table games:  poker, craps, roulette.  Only roulette slightly interests me, but I have only played it like once or twice in my life.  I just play the slots...and I don't like all these fancy new games. Just give me like a 3 line slot machine...not all this other video crap they have.

Some people who go to the Kentucky Derby also tend to do that rather than cash them in.

Well....Youngstown has a reputation as nothing but a mob town.....I am sure just about everyone from there has run into the mob venues at some point.

On souvenirs Vegas makes a lot as it is but think about how many from the USA and around the world come through their doors especially the Chinese and Japanese some are huge bettors and love anything American and keep souvenirs.

And on games I love craps the most roulette is fun they say black jack is the best way to make money but it can be too slow for me.  Around town we had a lot of poker nights some with crap tables. I rarely played the one armed bandits.  The better mob and bookie  joints had everything. Had a lot of bachelor parties there with uniformed Youngstown policemen at the door to keep the riff-raff out. They would cut the pots for a little amount for the happy couple......I've seen them get $10,000+ in one night.

It's all what you like I guess.

Until the mills closed from 1977-1981 then it went bust.  The 1950s, 1960s, 1970s was unreal.  Same with the bars on every corner and political machines.

Not unlike a lot of rust belt towns like Pittsburgh Cleveland Detroit somewhat Chicago.

......oh BTW not anyone got in these places you had to be invited or connected. The average person knew little about them.

Good news on D.Forbes..1 of 2 that could come back from IR in a season. Has 21 days to stick on roster.. which would pend a move.. or go back to IR for season. Closest game Drew could play would be the Bills.. Forbes now joins Teller to push for some Kush playing time.. Want'a play Tackle??

Well the Friday morning lines are in and the betting on Cleveland must have been good enough to bring it back to +12 or 12.5 for Sunday's game.  Several other minor changes to the lines are there too. Normally the NFL doesn't move much.   https://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas

And the first column is the open second the concensus and next seven are various casinos sportsbooks.

Btw guys, I think the weather is going to be AWFUL for our game and that's the worst news we could have heard. Hopefully it changes because poor weather will almost certainly nullify our speed advantage, and it could greatly help the Patriots' defensive advantage. Ugh.

The only thing I'll say is that possibly the weather could cause a slew of turnovers for the Patriots, and maybe we'll cash in on some good luck...finally.

I absolutely hate saying this, but we're a team that beats themselves so far, right? New England is the best team in the league and somebody who literally NEVER beats themselves. The weather will be atrocious, their defense has EIGHTEEN interceptions, and our freakin QB leads the league in turning it over. Nasty weather almost always favors the defense, and New England has the best defense in the history of the game (statistically). Btw, our QB has 5 TD passes. Yes, 5. I think Aaron Rodgers had that in one game.

I know what you're thinking, "Whatever Jiggins, you always pick us to lose. You're always negative." That's not totally true, as I picked us to beat the Titans and the Jets. I was really trying to psyche myself up and pick us to win, but with the weather looking awful and after watching the way New England baptized Sam Darnold, I don't see how anybody in their right mind could pick us to win. Lord, please let me be wrong. I'm not ready for the season to fall apart yet. Oh, and please don't let our coach screw up the OL. I don't see how replacing Greg Robinson is going to help, especially against the Patriots.

Patriots - 33

Browns - 13

I know, I know...I suck. I just can't see how we beat them, let alone stay close. I'm going to write another post that's my fantasy land version of how I WANT the game to go, and how we COULD win if things go our way and we play solid ball. But the real life prediction sucks and I'm not hopeful. I won't be able to watch it live, as my daughter has a volleyball tournament out of town. So I'll have to rely on the phone updates, which is awful.

Bellichick keeps heaping on the praise to our guys you would think it’s the 7-0 Browns coming to town.  Typical for him.

I think he’s probably scratching his head though thinking what the hell kind of scheme and play calls we make this week.  Honestly I think we are the hardest team to prepare for.

thats right this is all about freddies master game plan keep em guessing let them think we have no clue or identity  which makes it that much harder to game plan for

we have em right where we want them Browns win by 4 scores

Looks that way unless there is some last minute complication they need all the help they can get versus Tom Terrific.

OK, I'm  here in Beantown. (Actually, out in the 'burbs) And if you want a  complicating factor for the game, the current weather  forecast is  calling for a  100% chance of  rain.

Adding in a monsoon of rain, to the game 🌧️.. playing on bad knees, ankles & hamstrings become iffy at best. Starting Pats RG Shaq Mason (ankle) just took a restructured deal to fit Sanu under Pats cap. Doubt we catch a break, cause he's been playing with it, but the one of many goals is to get pressure on Tom from interior defense. Former raven J.Eluemunor may back-up RG? Or James Ferentz (son of Iowa HC) will play Center sliding starting center Ted Karras to RG.. Only If* Shaq Mason can't play? Mason did not practice Wednesday, & has been limited the rest of this week..

Another option out there, pretty much the same story everywhere.....to read the whole week see link.   https://www.vegasinsider.com

Browns at Patriots (-10 ½, 44 ½) – 4:25 PM EST

Besides San Francisco, New England (7-0 SU, 5-2 ATS) is the other unbeaten team in the NFL, which is not a surprise. The Patriots haven’t allowed more than 14 points in a game this season, while pulling off their second shutout of 2019 by blanking the Jets, 33-0. New England created six turnovers, including intercepting Jets’ quarterback Sam Darnold four times. The Pats have dealt with plenty of injuries on offense, but New England has eclipsed the 30-point mark six times, while outgaining three opponents by 200 yards or more.

The Browns (2-4 SU, 2-4 ATS) travel to Foxborough following their bye week after blowing a 14-point lead in a 32-28 home defeat to Seattle in Week 6. Cleveland has yet to win a home game this season at 0-3, but the Browns’ two victories have come away from FirstEnergy Stadium against the Jets and Ravens. In their only opportunity as an underdog of a touchdown or more this season, the Browns dropped 40 points in a blowout of Baltimore, as Cleveland is listed as a double-digit ‘dog for the first time since cashing in a 21-18 defeat at New Orleans receiving 10 points in 2018.

New England has compiled a 3-1 ATS ledger this season as a double-digit favorite, while posting an impressive 7-1 ATS mark since the start of 2018 when laying at least 10 points. The Browns and Patriots haven’t hooked up since 2016 in Cleveland when New England easily cashed as 10-point favorites in a 33-13 rout.

Best Bet: Patriots 31, Browns 21

WEEK 8 - ONE MAN'S OPINION ON THE BROWNS opened up at +11 now +13 and O/U 46 against New England 4:25 pm

Well the Browns are at a precarious place in the 2019 season a week 8 trip to Foxborough as a big underdog and then a week 9 trip to Denver as a slight underdog as we speak now.  They need a couple of wins real soon or risk this season slipping away.

And if the 2-4 Browns aren’t the most disappointing team in the NFL they are close to it. Baker Mayfield had  entered last week’s bye ranked an embarrassing 33rd in the quarterback ratings with a league-high 11 interceptions. Plus first-year Browns coach Freddie Kitchens has yet to fully utilize Odell Beckham Jr. and his offensive line hasn’t protected Mayfield very well. The schedule will ease on the Browns, but certainly not here.

Meanwhile the Patriots entered Monday’s game against the Jets allowing the fewest yards and points per game in the NFL while going 20-6 ATS against below .500 foes.  The Patriot way is to beat up struggling teams which the BROWNS are right now.  The Browns are likely to get back injured starting cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams.

It looks like all gloom and gloom right now for the big road underdogs.  The Browns are pretty much now in a must win situation against the undefeated Patriots.

SO what to do?  EASY use that must win feel in the rested BROWNS +13 and the OVER 46! Remember that they don't play the game on paper so sit back and enjoy.

I hope that you grabbed the BROWNS +13 when it was out there, now +10.5 or maybe +11.

GO BROWNS, just win....baby !

I was just thinking about you and your wagers. Under should be good the BROWNS choked early +14 would have pushed.  Without the bumbling start this might have been a closer game. Oh well......
