Frenchie
Total mismanagement by Gordon, his agent, and perhaps his lawyers and the Browns. Ignoring a subpoena? Like it's going to go away? Who is advising this person? He's supposedly has so many friends and advisors. Well if any of them are reading this thread, you all let him and us down, and you can't pretend you didn't know about it!

OldBrownsFan
I'm a little surprised if the arrest warrant was issued on 8/31 why he hasn't been arrested yet? It doesn't seem like he would be too hard to track down.
jiggins7919
Something is fishy about this. I don't know what it is, but something doesn't add up. He wouldn't ignore this when he's trying to walk the line. Either it's frivolous or paperwork got messed up. SOMETHING is wrong with this. Ok, suppose it's totally legit and our childish allstar screwed up...what do you guys think is the WORST case scenario? Would we cut him over something like this? I'm not sure. I don't know what that would accomplish because someone would just scoop him up. I don't think the NFL would lengthen his suspension, but I don't know. It's a civil matter and I don't think it would affect his standing with the Browns or NFL. But, Jeezus, you've got agents/lawyers let them handle this stuff before it gets to this. bbedward
It's just more poor/stupid judgement from Gordon, but I don't think it'll have any effect on his NFL status.

LogicIsForSquares
Meh... Pro athlete accused of fathering a child out of wedlock is right up there with dog bites man... The knucklehead part is not addressing it long enough that they issued a warrant. I am sure a good deal of pro athletes deal with ladies making big claims. I live in a rural county where an arrest warrant like this would have been acted on especially if that person was residing in town. The arrest warrant was issued after Gordon ignored a number of subpoena's so if he did get pulled over on a traffic stop would the police let him go with a summons after he just ignored so many other subpoena's? There is a big difference in the justice system between how cases are handled in a small rural county and a large highly populated county.

Z yeah, you'd think the lawyers would handle this. however, gordon should have done something on keeping up with this on his own. this isn't a perfect world and i don't know how competent his agent/lawyers are. if it ain't one thing its another with this guy. gftChris
So in over a year, they couldn't reach him? Even including the weeks he was very publicly in cleveland? And none of Josh, his agent, his lawyer, the browns (run by a lawyer don't forget) *or* adidas responded to it? All over a woman on welfare claiming he's the baby daddy? Yeah, I'll file this one under "moving on"

jrb12711
Just FYI, if you are looking for a small bright spot in this shitstorm the NFL has confirmed it will not impact his status. "NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy indicated that “this [case] will not affect his status [with the league]." https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/browns-josh-gordon-issued-arrest-warrant-but-nfl-apparently-doesnt-care-184208076.html In this case he may just be a deadbeat father, but one that can catch footballs starting week 5. gftChris
He's also complied with the DNA test requirement and the warrant has been withdrawn. Seems like he genuinely didn't know about it, although that's not necessarily a good thing in itself.

Honestly, I could believe a scenario where the dude just didn't open the mail. I know it sounds beyond stupid, but I know plenty of people around my age who don't open the mail because they think stuff will come via email. jiggins7919
Josh has satisfied the requirements of the warrant, and it is no longer an issue. Browns and NFL are both aware of it, and it's not going to impact Gordon at all. I feel like we lucked out. When I saw, "Arrest warrant for Gordon issued", I literally threw the remote control across the room and let out a guttural scream that scared my wife. We dodged a bullet...for once. jiggins7919
Well, that's why I said, "For once." LOL This actually had to be a non-issue. Had to because I would've lost my friggin' mind if we lost Josh again. I know all too well that it's a possibility. At any time, we could get an update on our phones that says Josh screwed up again, and he's gone. But...I want so much for him to realize his potential. He can do it...
