MDDawg
He's Paul Dunn. Does anyone know if he runs the Zone blocking scheme?
bbedward
He runs a mixed scheme, not sure if he will change much or not.

bbedward
we changed o line coaches in season? Oh god, this isn't gonna turn out well . Well, it's because our old o-line coach decided to strangle his girlfriend right before the season started, combined with a history of alcohol abuse. We decided to "mutually part ways" Dunn got fired by the Texans after 1 season with them, in January.
The Gipper
Generally a positive move to get someone new imo. But, the only question I have to ask is: why was this guy on the street and available for the Browns to pick him up during the season? (If he was any good would not someone have already grabbed him?) Tour2ma
He's Paul Dunn. Does anyone know if he runs the Zone blocking scheme? Dunn coached 24 years in college before coming to the NFL with the Falcons in 2007. Dunn was fired by the Texans last January after one season with the team; he had spent the previous seven seasons with the Falcons. Pretty safe bet that if he was on Texans' staff then he knows the ZBS. Also possible they were not impressed since he was only there a year. Some of his ATL years they had good line play. I could be wrong, but thinking O line coach has zero say in what "system" they run....thats up to the OC.... Also, Pettine said today that Dunn is gonna be DeLeones assistant....and DeLeone is still the acting Line Coach...
Unsympathetic
The OL is nowhere near the weak point of the offense. Seems designed to give the OC time to focus elsewhere.

Ideally the talent sets the system, but we know how that goes. However the system is chosen you'd want to hire coaches with experience in that system. That said, just found a source saying ATL in their better running years of late were a Power team, not ZBS. So the HOU year may be it for Dunn. In other O-line news... "My name is" Erle Ladsen was resigned to the PS today.
gumby73
If he can't get Crow, Duke or Turpin to run threw a hole made by this line he is Coach Done. Sir Paul.

We always talk quarterbacks coming from the spread offense but this explains how it affects the offensive lineman as they try to transition to the NFL
ballpeen
Good read. As I have said for several years, the NFL is going to have to adapt if they continue to use college football as their "farm system"
nickers
I just assumed DeLeone took over per chain of command.. Let's hope it has a positive effect...
Tour2ma
Pet was pretty effusive about Dunn in the opening his 10/1 presser. Seems they have some history together and Pet effortlessly rattled off Dunn's resume. Also said Moeller's absence was a factor in the O-line issues to date, but couldn't/wouldn't put a percentage on it vs. other factors.
