According to Mary Kay Crabbot maybe.....but as usual, this will prove to be yet another sliver of truth mixed with a LOT of Mary kay fiction and speculation.....and it positively does not involve haslem....

MK says staff members were texting play suggestions to shanny from the press box.....thats her story and the one that started all this....

BUT....she got it wrong....again....because she reports before she investigates....here's what you're gonna find out...

Some Browns employees(and not coaches or anyone important) were texting EACH OTHER mocking Shanny's play calls......and shanny caught wind of it and bitched....and some players heard about it and talked in the locker room......and Mary Kay heard them and picked up a few bits and then filled in the blanks (incorrectly)....

so....it wont be an issue with the league....and we wont lose a draft pick....and Mary Kay will keep getting people all upset over non stories......

How is she still employed

Made up sensational stories sell newspapers. I expect a story about how Mary Kay had a secret rendezvous with JM at a casino in Atlantic City. He gave her a copy the secret playbook of the new OC to be picked later.

You know this for sure...i hope. Sounds plausible.

can someone explain why it would cost us a draft pick in any case? why the fuck would it matter if some jackass in the front office was texting shanny play suggestions? That's dysfunctional as hell but gives nobody any unfair advantages...if anything it's fucking with your own OC and potentially costing you a game.

I don't get it either. Norv Turner was calling plays from the press box. Some OC's are not on the field

that would be the coaches box, not the press box......press box is media

ok, but he's not on the field. He's up above looking down at the field. What's the difference?

I dont get your question or why where norv sat matters.....but there is a huge difference between who would be in the press box and who would be in the coaches box....

My question is, What does it matter where someone is sitting? They are all up above the field, with a better view of the game.

If the owner is in the coaches box, can he call plays then? And what if the OC is in the owners box, can he not call plays?

What's to stop an owner, from saying he's a coach too?

It not about calling in plays...it's about using cell phones on the sidelines.....

its 2 problems....

IE...the NFL is worried about cell phones...

and Kyle Shanahan is worried about being second guessed....

If Shanahan was getting texts wouldn't there be video evidence of him looking at his phone? The entire bench is on camera.

You would think......and it would be an indictment against him too, i think, for having it with him and on....correct?

Doesn't matter....none of it happened.....no one texted him plays during the game.......

Well, we have seen what kind of guy he is.

He doesn't handle adversity very well IMO.

If he ever gets a head coaching job he will be like Shurmer IMO

Here's how she keeps her job. She listens to rumors and reports them. The rumors are never that extraordinary but as soon as we read them we start to extrapolate all sorts of possible meanings. Then the broadcasters who need to fill up at least 12 hours of airtime listen to those rumors and start making up their own stories. Then we hyperventilate for days over the stuff that we've made up our selves. And scramble to grab the nearest newspaper or get on cleveland.com to find out what she says next. She's not on the practice field, neither is Tony Grossi. Neither is Terry Pluto but he's a hell of a writer. Now who told you guys we could lose a first round draft pick? Where did you hear that exactly?

A. I read that it's just a fine. I think the number was 25 grand or something.

B. Mary Kay Cabot sucks. She's like a Hollywood gossip columnist who doesn't care

about being honest.

Think Tom Melody of the Beacon Journal in the old days. He finally ended up up not

covering sports, I think.

MKC's game is innuendo and half-truths with enough verifiable facts and names stirred in to confuse the issue.

It's plausible that a staffer or staffers were texting Shanny during the game, but if he did not have his phone with him, as he should not have, then it becomes an personal irritant rather than a league violation.

What's to stop an owner, from saying he's a coach too?

The League would be my guess. I know MLB has such rules and would be surprised if the NFL did not as well.

Jerrah is GM of the Cowboys, what's to stop him from being the coach too?

Wasn't Al Davis coach/GM/Owner at one point for the Raiders?

And here it is....looks like Tony Grossi decided to wait for the facts, instead of reporting rumors.....I knew this would come out eventually. Glad it happened today.....

As per Tony Grossi:

....there were non-football personnel texting disparaging remarks about coaching decisions, play-calls and use of players to each other during games. It was like two fans holding texting conversations during games. The problem was the “fans” were team employees who exercised bad judgment. When coaches became aware of what was going on, they were understandably put off and brought it to the attention of GM Ray Farmer. From what I know, it was not a case of texting play suggestions to coaches.....
