She is the first contestant of Indian descent to be crowned Miss America. They mean south asian indian, not native, just to clarify. It's laughable how people are calling her an arab, 'joking' that she's a terrorist. What do we think, gang? And I'm not typically attracted to the blonde barbie type, but based on achievements/interests/ hobbies, my vote was for Kansas. If it was just a "beauty" pageant, my fave would be Oklahoma: boing! As far as twitter goes, I'd look for a "level-headed reaction" here before I ever searched a hashtag on twitter about a potentially controversial topic.
