The Gipper
Here is what I call Preseason Football trivia, though little of it has to do with the NFL preseason. Why would there be much to deal with there. About half have to do with college football: 1. There are only 2 schools in Ohio that play football at the FCS (Division 1-AA) level. What are those 2 schools? 2. Which state has the most FBS level schools playing football? 3. There are only 2 schools in Ohio who competes in the NCAA at the Division 1 level (for basketball and other sports) which have NEVER had a football program. Name those 2 schools. 4. There is one school in Ohio that competes in the NCAA at the Division 1 level (for basketball and other sports) which USED TO have a football program, but gave it up in 1973. Name that school. 5. A. Of all the schools that compete in the NCAA Division 1 level....and there are 351 schools, which one comes first alphabetically? B. Which one comes last alphabetically? 6. Since 2005 the NFL has played the NFL International Series, a regular season game played outside the US. Name the two places in which this series has been played. (Note: the game the Bills play once a year in Toronto is not considered part of the NFL International Series). 7. Two NFL teams, in their entire history, have only played their home games in a single stadium. Name those 2 teams. (note: name changes to a stadium like the Miami stadium that has undergone a dozen name changes it seems don't count. Actual stadiums) 8. Which 2 NFL teams are tied for having played their home games in the most different stadiums with 8 stadiums each? 9. Which of the 8 current NFL divisions has now gone the longest without having one of its teams win a Super Bowl? 10. Which 2 teams are tied for having the longest postseason game losing streaks in NFL history. Note: both of these streaks are currently ongoing with 7 consecutive postseason losses. (Hint: the Browns are not one of them) 11. What IS the Browns longest postseason losing streak? Give the number of games and the years/games if you can. 12. Which city has currently gone the longest without winning a championship while fielding a team in the following sports: MLB: NBA: (note: 2 cities tied) NHL: Pro Football:

The Gipper
Here is what I call Preseason Football trivia, though little of it has to do with the NFL preseason. Why would there be much to deal with there. About half have to do with college football: Answers: 1. There are only 2 schools in Ohio that play football at the FCS (Division 1-AA) level. What are those 2 schools? Dayton and Youngstown St. 2. Which state has the most FBS level schools playing football? Texas with 12 schools. Ohio is second with 8. Florida and California have 7 each. 3. There are only 2 schools in Ohio who competes in the NCAA at the Division 1 level (for basketball and other sports) which have NEVER had a football program. Name those 2 schools. Cleveland St. and Wright St. Who thinks Cleveland St. should develop a football program? 4. There is one school in Ohio that competes in the NCAA at the Division 1 level (for basketball and other sports) which USED TO have a football program, but gave it up in 1973. Name that school. Xavier 5. A. Of all the schools that compete in the NCAA Division 1 level....and there are 351 schools, which one comes first alphabetically? Akron B. Which one comes last alphabetically? Akron's somewhat close rival: Youngstown St. 6. Since 2005 the NFL has played the NFL International Series, a regular season game played outside the US. Name the two places in which this series has been played. (Note: the game the Bills play once a year in Toronto is not considered part of the NFL International Series). London's Wembley Stadium in the UK and Estadia Azteca in Mexico City 7. Two NFL teams, in their entire history, have only played their home games in a single stadium. Name those 2 teams. (note: name changes to a stadium like the Miami stadium that has undergone a dozen name changes it seems don't count. Actual stadiums) Of course this answer would have to involve fairly new team: The Jags who have only ever played in Alltel/Evergree/Municipal/Gator Bowlyada/yada Stadium. Same stadium with different names; and the Houston Texans in Reliant Stadium. FYI, the Browns have only ever played in 2 stadiums: Muni and CBS...though, of course they ARE the team with the record for playing the longest time on the same field, by that I mean the gridiron footprint they play on has been the same since 1946...and before even if you count the Rams time in old Muni. 8. Which 2 NFL teams are tied for having played their home games in the most different stadiums with 8 stadiums each? Cardinals: Normal Park, Comiskey Park, Soldier Field, Metropolitan Stadium, Busch I Stadium, Busch II Stadium, Sun Devil Stad., Un. of Phoenix Stadium Packers: Hagemeister Park, Belleview Stad., City Stadium, Borchert Field, Wisconsin State Fair Park, Marquette Stadium, Milwaukee County Stad., Lambeau Field. 9. Which of the 8 current NFL divisions has now gone the longest without having one of its teams win a Super Bowl? The AFC West has not had a Champion since the Broncos went back to back in 1997 and 1998. All of the other 7 divisions have had a title since then. The NFC West is next since the Rams 1999 title. 10. Which 2 teams are tied for having the longest postseason game losing streaks in NFL history. Note: both of these streaks are currently ongoing with 7 consecutive postseason losses. (Hint: the Browns are not one of them) The Lions have lost 7 consecutive starting with their loss in the 1991 NFC Conference title game to their most recent loss in a 2011 wildcard game. The Chiefs have lost 7 consecutive starting with their lost in the 1993 AFC Conference title game to their most recent loss in a 2010 wildcard game. These ongoing streaks are the longest in NFL history. 11. What IS the Browns longest postseason losing streak? Give the number of games and the years/games if you can. The Browns record loss streak is 6 including: 1969 NFL title game loss to Vikings 1971 Division game to the Colts 1972 Wildcard round game to Dolphins 1980 Division round game to the Raiders 1982 Division round game to the Raiders 1985 Division round game to the Dolphins In the 1969, 1971, and 1982 games the Browns were pretty much out of those. In 1972 the Browns had a 4th quarter lead against the ultimately undefeated Dolphins. 1980 Red Right 88. 1985 the Browns had a 21-3 lead entering the second half but could not hold it. The streak was broken with the Browns defeat of the Jets in double OT in 1986. 12. Which city has currently gone the longest without winning a championship while fielding a team in the following sports: MLB: Cleveland...64 years (note: though Cubs have gone 105 years, White Sox in Chicago won in 2005) NBA: (note: 2 cities tied) Atlanta and Phoenix each with 45 years...but note, Cleveland in next with 44 years. NHL: Toronto 46 years. St. Louis next with 45 years Pro Football: Detroit: 57 years. Next are the following cities: Philly 53 years, Minnesota 53 years, Houston 51, San Diego 50, Cleveland 49.
