  1. I think of this a good bit - the desire to play football - or not...and the desire to work and strive to accomplish a major objective. Phil didn't care much - he knew he loved the freedom - he had that passion for the outdoor life. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=terry+bradshaw+phil+robertson&&view=detail&mid=7A2588168D30DBC330307A2588168D30DBC33030&rvsmid=A0C60A53FF4B46306B31A0C60A53FF4B46306B31&FORM=VDQVAP
  2. Well, talent is evaled with film and the combine. Calloway and Gordon had HUGE TALENT. But that is my point. Without a love for the game, the desire to excel.... Corbett took over at LT in Bitonio's place. They thought they were getting another Bitonio. They both were athletic, about the same size physically. But Corbett failed. So, it isn't about talent. It's about loving the fierce competition, loving the game. I think there is far too much money in the NFL - kids will play it for the money, when they don't care to be a great or even good player. They really don't care about the team, winning. They care about the $$$$$$$, and they don't like the jump in competition - in the pros, I've heard several NFL players say, everybody was good in college. You have to step it up to a higher level in the pros" I often think of Phil Robertson, of the Duck Dynasty show, and his family down in West Munroe, La. Phil watched a flock of ducks fly over at the practice field one day, realized he didn't care about football. He dearly loved the woods, hunting and fishing. He went to his backup qb at Louisiana Tech, and told him to go be a star in the pros - he was leaving to go back to the woods, to duck hunting, and his outdoor life. In case anyone doesn't know this story, Phil's backup in college, was...Terry Bradshaw. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=terry+bradshaw+phil+robertson&docid=608024152718510609&mid=6DEB5CA51C6F5384081E6DEB5CA51C6F5384081E&view=detail&FORM=VIRE
  3. egad. really? NOBODY is saying "fierce" = leadership. I said "fierce love of competition". and everybody in the NFL knows Kyler is that dangerous as a scrambler. But Murray is far more an accomplished passer. It's not spin at all. in nearly the same number of games started, one game different - Lamar's TD passes - 30. Kyler's TD passes - 42. Look at completion percentage. Lamar - 59.1. Kyler 85.7. Rushing attempts - 260 - Lamar. Only 140 rushing attempts for Murray. It's just a fact. Lamar relied far more on rushing, and Murray is far more the passing qb who can also run like crazy. So, I've shown that what I was saying is true. Your turn. Just whining about "character and leadership" being subjective doesn't cut it. Go ask Flugels about being an offensive lineman. He's a bit smallish for that. But he had that fierce competitiveness and love for the game that coaches love. Games Started (GS) Lamar Jackson 13 (2017) Kyler Murray 14 (2018) Touchdown Passes (TD) Lamar Jackson 30 (2016) Kyler Murray 42 (2018) Completion Percentage (Cmp%) Lamar Jackson 59.1 (2017) Kyler Murray 85.7 (2017) Rushing Attempts (Att) Lamar Jackson 260 (2016) Kyler Murray 140 (2018) Rushing Yards (Yds) Lamar Jackson 1601 (2017) Kyler Murray 1001 (2018) Rushing Touchdowns (TD) Lamar Jackson 21 (2016) Kyler Murray 12 (2018)
  4. yep, you called yourself out. lol and you erred about Johnny Manziel. Ask Canton Mike - I despised a pick of manziel. I had zero use for him before the draft. If you want to get all outraged about it, why enter the thread in the first place? It isn't a "grand victory" - it's what I value. It's how I'm wired, you can take it or leave it. Shove it, even. There are plenty of examples of physical talent that fizzles out because the heart isn't there. The character isn't there. the love for the game isn't there. Corbett was fairly highly regarded in the draft. I was shocked we took him where we did. More than a few players in the NFL have said that when they got to the pros, everybody was really good back in college. It's a step up in competition. For a guy like Corbett, he had a nice chance of being the superior talent. In the pros, it's a war. And Corbett played LT, taking over for....Bitonio. So, you'd think he would be a safe bet. Similar physical talent obviously. So what is the difference? Seems obvious to me.
  5. which is complete bs. Baker has outstanding leadership. and a fierce love of competition. Jackson is succeeding so far only because of his amazing athletic talent in scrambling. It didn't work much for him vs the Browns early on. He CAN throw, too, but it depends on the wr/secondary matchups. We'll see if he can continue the magic. He has the offensive line and defense..... etc etc.
  6. although Freddie has a lot to learn, so did Chuck Noll with the Squealers. his first year as head coach, they only won once. second year - five wins third year - six wins. Kitchen's first year - 5 and 7 so far. It is just way wrong to say KItchens needs to be replaced. He will learn like Chuck Noll did.
  7. How about - the importance of evaluating character...leadership...love for the game... in the future. Like, in draft picks? The Browns chose wisely for a qb. The teams who picked rudoolph and rosen picked wrongley. ....wrongly? lol. The calloway/corbett/Gordon desperation chances taken... keep holding the Browns back. If the point was self-aggrandizing - hardly, I can be wrong about stuff - but I think it's important after that fiasco - to look at the hearts of players, not just how they test in workouts. Not on the narrow focus of "best pocket passer in the draft". I like the second chance thing, but it seems it's all too often like rolling the dice, and the Browns, as well as other teams, lose their money. The old saying "those who don't know/ignore history tend to repeat it" is more the point. Maybe a good example is Corbett. About the same size as Bitonio,.... but Bitonio has the heart of a lion, as does Joe Thomas. But Corbett? has only started two games, played in three since he left the Browns? Nope. No fierceness to compete, let alone win. No love for the game, no heart. The lack of attention paid to the red flags on character/leadership in his nfl profiles... is just too bad for the team that drafted him. It shows, that's all. I didn't start it to call out the few who got extremely nasty and belligerent about being disagreed with. Are you feeling guilty? Methinks thou dost complain too much. lol
  8. That is true - except I figured the defense needed a lot of help with injuries/left home/suspensions at the time. I thought the ball control was to limit the weakened defense's exposure to pukesburg's offense as much as possible. I was disappointed though, at the throwing to OBJ again, while hopelessly double covered. It's just wasted downs unless OBJ still gets a bit of room to get to the ball. I just notice that Ward gets picked on more than Greedy - that is bad. And sure enough, Ward gets a pass interference call on a long throw, right on cue. Didn't look back at the ball . Is it just me? I would think that it would help with getting interceptions? and avoid completions to make plays? lol Just seems like he needs a talking to. Could easily be just me. lol I will say - giving them time to score again near halftime was bad. A little more intuitiveness, please.
  9. It IS sad, but we've all seen years where the Browns had no chance. Not anywhere near enough talent, etc etc. Wrong draft picks, wrong coaches, it's apparently tough to get it all right at once. After watching the Patriots lose to the Texans yesterday... there were times when Brady was ducking for his life again and again, and couldn't find any open receivers. Their center got injured, then it went downhill after that. James White got me a lot of points in fantasy football, and the Texan's secondary allowed Watson to get me a lot of points. Brady's offensive line was hit with a few injuries, Brady doesn't have fast freight train Gronk anymore to dramatically make plays for them..and Buttichek and the coaches didn't look all that smart with playcalling at times. It's taken a long bunch of years to get oh...so....close. And some of the good players bolted for other teams to have a chance of whining. A healthy Browns team would have rolled in this second game. And I do believe Garrett got baited. Nobody has ever seen a qb go after a big defensive end like that, just because he got sacked again. Without key players on the defensive line, in the secondary, and offensive line - to lose 13 to 20 is sad - but far, far from being hopeless. The weakened Browns weren't world class strong across their team in the first place - losing Garrett hurt alot. But Schobert and Wilson are amazing. And the brilliant Tom Brady had no choice but to look like Baker Mayfield on a tough day. it just happens. What is really sad, is the idea that it's Kitchens' fault. These Browns love these coaches and will leave it all out on the field every Sunday. Trouble is, there are times when it just isn't enough, just like the Patriots losing to the Texans last night. In conclusion, after all the smug talk about the Browns-Squealers rivalry not being a rivalry anymore... oh, no, no, no - dammit - they KNOW it's ON. lol
  10. which favors the good teams. Stop and think about that. Browns walked all over the squealers the first game, were shorthanded the second game, were only a td down at the end. It just is what it is.
  11. Actually, that is also true. It's agonizing. But he'll learn and won't do it next year.........
  12. crap, I thought you'd try not to be stupid about it. ah well, you worship a crap team. figures. A helmet to helmet hit isn't debateable, especially on the qb in the pocket. it's a penalty, except when the squealers do it. I've seen Browns called for it for an inadvertent grazing of a helmet with one finger. And Carson was not in the end zone, you aren't on the right play. It was a pass play where Carson straight-armed one of the steelers and kept on going. Oh, and here's another one. the pittspuke qb throws the ball away, was IN the POCKET, where no squealer receiver was within ...20 yards? that's how it looked on TV. Intentional grounding !!!!!!!!!!!! oops. nope. NO CALL. A few bad, bad pittsburg offensive linemen holding occurences later in the game, second half... NO CALLS.
  13. Well, to that point - a few times there was the stupidass shoulder tackle that lets the bigger guy bounce off and keep on going. I freaking HATE THAT. Which, now I remember - what....in....the...hell.....is up with taking a big guy on... by trying to stop him by hitting him just above the waist? That is where he has the leverage. The Browns TE could knock some little db's out, but other db's hit them in the lower legs. You need to stop a team on third down, and you think you'll stop him by hitting him high in the hips? around his waist? Some of these kind of guys need to take a defense oriented physics class. They try to do it to Chubb, too, and other teams defenses also look like fools when he keeps on going. I hate to lose that game, so do the Browns. A healthy Browns team would have won this game. Too bad. dammit. Let's see, what is prissy vag saying....
  14. certainly true. But if the Browns drafted high enough to draft Chase Young out of Ohio State.... I couldn't draft a LT til the second round. Even the third round - which would still be an upgrade, hopefully. Drafting Corbett was such a disaster. He has only started 2 games for the rams, only played in three games. and, btw, the Browns miss Njoku out there. Carson was outstanding..on the one time they threw to him. I think they had to keep him in to block most of the time. Too bad.
  15. I was PROUD about how the Browns fought the entire game. the offensive line played their hearts into the dirt - but the LT just isn't good enough to get it done, There was never "quit" for one second in that game. That is just dumb..I'd say, the Browns will start a new LT, a new RT and eventually? a new ROG. Baker got beat up a few times, threw a few throws in OBJ's direction into double coverage again, the defensive line got beat up even worse. I will gripe though - even Greedy, who also got banged up in the second half, knows to look back for the ... what in the hell? I'm thinking a team who needs to take the lead, can simply throw a long ball ball towards Ward, and get a pass interference a lot of the time. Never looked back at the ball. What the.... I was proud of the Browns' run game. That is easier on the offensive line, but you can't keep running on first down with the same formation so often. A few times, the Browns got minus yardage handed to them, because the defense got wise. The two? long throws to a double covered OBJ were wasted plays. Right to the end, the Browns might have tied it up to send it into overtime. They were undermanned, some things went wrong (Browns TD catch dropped when the TE's head hit the turf), and Baker led that fight by staying in the game after his hand got banged up. I'm still annoyed about the helmet hit on Baker's helmet. NO CALL. And if I saw correctly, one of the Browns on kickoff coverage, got blasted from behind, and was looking at the refs and was wanting a flag. NO CALL. I keep seeing this garbage. A few times, our safeties got badly outmaneuvered. The Browns played a hell of a game to even be in the game at the end. Just wasn't enough - not healthy enough, and...in Ward's case, not smart enough. Mack Wilson and Schobert ROCK.
  16. Baker got a clear helmet to helmet... NO CALL. of course.
  17. you mad, bro? Because YOU were the guy who was high on...MASON RUDOLPH ??? I brought it up because we played vs the Bills, I was there, then we played Miami, where Rosen is... did I mention his original team dumped him for a second round pick? Oh, yeah. I did. OTH, I was concerned about Baker's immaturity and height a bit - but Canton Mike wouldn't buy into it. And I was wrong. Anyways, I was watching the survival show "Running with Bear Grillis" sp? and he had Drew Brees on. It was a great time - Brees and Bear talked about themselves - and Brees was outstanding - he seemed so much like Baker Mayfield - leadership, absolutely thrives on challenges, fierce courage...etc etc etc, height, and I thought back to the leadership question. I mean, Bear takes famous supermodels or actors or whoever else. He took Shaq on one, Deion Sanders, etc. And every one of them were way outside their comfort zones... the latter two were really out... and every time - famous people you'd think would never do stuff...they follow Bear rappelling up and down cliffs, through jungles or desert.... that confidence and leadership, etc, that helps some folks achieve great things got them through in flying colors. I believe Mayfield would do it, I thought that the second time I watched the recorded version of Brees' being on the show. Allen has that. Sipe and Kosar certainly did. I believe Allen does - we just saw him and the Bills won again... then, by logical comparison...there is Rosen. And Allen came up to mind, because over two weeks around Thanksgiving, the Bills beat both Denver and Dallas. So, I hope everybody had a GREAT THANKSGIVING - we did, and our big turkey dinner is today, when the Browns win over the dirty squealers.
  18. of course he was. https://www.theblaze.com/news/former-polish-president-who-serves-on-burisma-board-admits-hunter-biden-hired-for-his-name
  19. yeah. What a scumsucking weasel. Just like quid pro Joe. Liars, cheaters, influence sales etc https://www.theblaze.com/news/hunter_biden_financial_records_sealed
  20. I reckon you do, Gip - you opened the thread, read it down through, and the title was right on the money as to the content.
  21. works for free and STILL gets let go from the bengals? that is so bad he should just go away. Retire, go mess up some jr high football team....
  22. I can only figure the left believes all blacks and hispanics are really stupid/and don't know how to THINK. But that is to their extreme discredit, and politically, to their downfall. Once and for all? a McGovern landslide defeat is in order, and maybe will throw a giant monkey wrench into the totally corrupt leftwing mess.
