  1. Actually, true, I never got a waiver per se, the docs at the physical ONLY let me go ahead and enlist in the AF, but they would NOt have if I was going into the Navy. And I had to talk them into letting me go ahead for the AF, and they nearly didn't let me. I just told them they had to let me try. Finally they consulted as a group, the head dr came over and said against their better judgement, they were going to let me go ahead, but they didn't think my knee would make it halfway through. Ah, the good old days.
  2. Here's the truth - on the way home, she asked me what speed I though we were going without looking, and I guess 45-50. We were doing 70. She drove us out to the lake, and I was adjusting the stereo fade, and looked down and saw a little wifi or fade adjustment thing on the console - it had little circles on it which means sound or internet waves emanating, and in the parking she drove very slowly over a speed bump, and I went to adjust the fade, or check the wifi whatever and moved it a bit. The new car hesitated on top of the speed bump and bounced and we were like "what the HECK was that?" I told her all I did was try to adjust the stereo fade and find out about what it does do...and she says "that's the electronic emergency brake. Stop messing with stuff." Luckily, I only bumped and it went back off. I'm old school.
  3. I used to say that, but it gets great reviews. wouldn't get a 4 Chevy or dodge, though. This one has a button where if you are stuck in traffic, it will put the engine in quiet mode to save gas. A Toyota Highlander has that, but it does it every stop light. I find that annoying.
  4. yep, we have the blind spot jobbie, lane keeping assist (you can press the button to turn it on) etc....it's impressive. The old one has the v-6 - it runs excellent, but the new 4cyl eco boost, I punched it a little in the parking lot, and it took off. Amazing. And she loves it. We're good.

  7. silly conspiracy? think again. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/02/22/beijing-admits-coronavirus-didnt-start-in-wuhan-food-market-senator-cotton-tweets-vindication/ (Via Global Times) A new study by Chinese researchers indicates the novel coronavirus may have begun human-to-human transmission in late November from a place other than the Huanan seafood market in Wuhan. The study published on ChinaXiv, a Chinese open repository for scientific researchers, reveals the new coronavirus was introduced to the seafood market from another location, and then spread rapidly from market to market. The findings were the result of analyses of genome-wide data, sources of infection and the route of spread of 93 samples of the novel coronavirus collected from 12 countries across four continents. The study believes that patient zero transmitted the virus to workers or sellers at the Huanan seafood market. The crowded market facilitated the further transmission of the virus to buyers, which caused a wider spread in early December 2019. According to the researchers, the new coronavirus experienced two sudden population expansions, including one on January 6, 2020, which was related to the Chinese New Year’s Day holiday. An earlier expansion occurred on December 8, implying human-to-human transmission may have started in early December or late November, and then accelerated when it reached the Huanan seafood market. On January 6, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a second-level emergency response, which the researchers said served as a warning against mass public activity and travel. If the warnings had received wider public attention, the number of cases spreading nationally and globally in mid-to-late January would have been lower, said the researchers. (read more)
  8. 5 Reasons to Doubt China's Claim It Has Zero Coronavirus Cases https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2020/... Mar 19, 2020 · China’s report of zero new coronavirus cases sparked celebration across the globe, with some viewing the communist regime’s Thursday report as a beacon of hope. While global efforts to curb the impact of the virus continue, there is reason to doubt China’s “milestone” claim of no new local coronavirus infections.
  9. The Chinese Knew What They Were Doing in Spreading the ... https://www.redstate.com/stu-in-sd/2020/03/12/the... Mar 12, 2020 · China is a closed society, and the ChiComs tightly control information, particularly anything that may be damaging or embarrassing to the regime. They have also invested millions of dollars in Western media over the past two decades in order to influence and suppress negative information about Communist China.
  10. I mentioned before, the WHO head is ... from Nigeria, who gets big money from...communist china. The WHO wanted Pres Trump to keep the travel between china and America OPEN. He refused and closed it. Taiwan warned the WHO about the virus being transmitted like it is, but...the WHO followed the communist party line. https://www.theblaze.com/news/president-trump-looking-to-put-a-hold-on-us-funding-to-who
  11. Thanks. My bad. I wish I had been in the Navy - that was my first choice.
  12. Yeah, the electronics are amazing. But if something goes wrong, the cost to fix is high. We actually researched a Ford Connect "mini-van" to make into a camper, but it wouldn't fit into the garage, and was way, way more expensive. A friend who has two for his business says they are fine for his business, but traveling in one wouldn't be his choice.
  13. LOL. I remember the old gas wars - gas was actually down to 24 cents a gallon. "23.9" lol I had a '66 Chevy Belaire 4 door, metallic maroon, 250 six, 3 on the column...oh, I wish I still had that car. At least I should have kept the engine. I ran it for about 90,000 miles, the engine was awesome, but the shock mounts rusted out. Too bad.
  14. we kept our old one - has that 119,000 miles on it , too many miles to ride cross country and not have something go wrong. We're covered now.
  15. Thanks ! We are both old school, even though my Wife is a genius, ...dammit.... He told us about the features - really hi tech - and she knows how to do it all. I'm like...."how the hell does she do that?" LoL We got that 7 yr bumper to bumper if anything goes wrong extended for 8 yrs... or 100,000 miles I think it was, and it didn't add much to our low payment. It was time to make a deal.
  16. not at all. The Sec of the Navy was wrong to publicly ridicule the Commander. He "resigned" - for good reason. The Commander ended up having covid19 - my guess is, he panicked in a bad way. Too bad. It isn't like they were stationed at Norfolk or the like. I honestly don't know how big the base is at Guam....
  17. Exactly, and woodpecker KNOWS that, I've explained it in the past.
  18. I honestly saw that hole open up inside the LG - by going wide, that defensive player might have been able to spin off the block and shut it down, or force it to a cutback,... so, this is trap blocking, or is that slightly? a different deal ? Another dumb question - if the de went to his left, the ROG would have to go with him.. and the lb could shoot the gap? If the defense does run stunts to confuse the blocking, the olinemen had better be quick on their feet, have great balance and be pretty smart, right? Hey, this is good stuff. I don't mind asking. !
  19. You betcha. I think DH's "new pickup" probably gets about 5-6 mpg.
  20. Interesting - this guy has the top four for the Browns - with Ezra Cleveland being #4, and Wills not being one of the four. Because Wills played RT or...? https://www.si.com/nfl/browns/browns-maven-features/final-four-ranking-the-browns-top-options-in-the-first-round
  21. You did. and you did a nice job constructing your nest. Seriously, does your company get parts or whatever from china? that crap needs to stop. Medical supplies are crucial to be constructed here. China has dumped crap all over the world. All it has done it give them the money to become far more dangerous militarily.
  22. which is bs, you always? flip a point to be a sassy beatch. You have no idea about moral equivalency - you thrive on it. Too bad. You just don't seem to have enough of a life yet to discuss much of any subject except your degree and your work... so you compensate for having nothing to add by being belligerent and insulting, and countering what others believe without having any beliefs of your own. Jaf has never once criticized you, but that doesn't stop you at all. Have a nice day, negative attention craving bird.
  23. We've been talking about it for a long while - needed a new one, but they are so expensive to buy new. But with the hard times our country has been going through, we decided for our safety we'd buy one. Had a lot of miles on our other old one, well past 100,000 miles....but decided to trade in our F-150 and buy the Wife a new car. We don't need "my" beautiful pickup truck anymore, and I'm not talented enough to be a country music star, so it is what it is. Got a nice trade in, bought a nearly brand new never titled Escape. Wife loved it before she drove it - it's a very fancy upgrade - was a dealer loaner. Technically "used", with 5000 miles. We maneuvered an extra 1000 bucks on the trade in. All in all, a great deal on a car that only lacks a sunroof which would have been cool....and the auto parallel parking which we did NOT want, from being top of the line. Heated seats, rear camera, gps, lane change drift warning option...power seats/windows, ... anyways, we were the first customers this dealership had all morning and afternoon. I first went in with a mask and nitrile gloves to be safe. Found out the manager there has an expensive professional sterilizer team come in in the morning and just as they close every single day. They are a very respected dealership with generations of history. Sanitizer was there as soon as you came in the door, blue tape on the floor by the desks to remind everyone to keep their distant and spray bottles at the desks to spray off the desks and pens after all the signing of papers were done. No hand shaking after the deal, lots of hand waving instead. So, it worked out great. Needed a cool car to travel in - can't wait til all this is over. Want to go out west, camp in Kentucky/Tenn, take a trip to Texas and flying is OUT for a couple of years, I think. They paid half to put a new bumper hitch on it for our canoe. A new car would have cost us twice what we financed. Can't pass up on a deal like that. And the sticker price was a lot more than the special internet price. Customers rate this dealership a 5 stars out of 5. We added 12 bucks to our payment, which is really low, for 8 years of bumper to bumper coverage on everything. Well, when you get lemons, you make lemonade, right?
  24. yeah, but I repeated it in my point because it was just SO GOOD. and so STUPID. lol
