  1. Points well taken. However, just because you can counter my statements on the flip side, doesn't refute my statements. Don't be Retarded. The point is, it is more complicated than bad play this year. Drew Brees. Struggled his first three years in the NFL. Then , paydirt. However, go back and look. The Saints drafted Donte Stallworth FIRST ROUND, nfl draft, 13th overall in 2002. Brees was drafted the previous year. In 2004, They drafted Devery Henderson in the 2nd Round. Henderson was a star wr with the champion LSU Tigers, and also was a track star - ran a 4.36 forty. So that gave Brees two star wr's. In 2007, the Saints drafted Robert Meachem, WR, first round. The Saints won their division in 06. They won the superbowl in 09. The Browns hadn't drafted a wr in the first two rounds - well, the last time was corey coleman, huge bust. Baker isn't "average" at all - he isn't ELITE, but he is plenty good enough to take the Browns to the superbowl, if they could give HIM a few stars at wr in the draft, too. One flip side does not refute the other side of the coin. I'm saying the Browns can win with Baker, he's good enough and then some. But no qb can come in and do great things with only one wr that can get open, and Jarvis has been in the league since 2014. The Saints didn't dump Drew Brees, they fixed the WR problem, etc. That's all I"m saying. I didn't say Baker was anywhere near the qb that Rodgers is. NOTE: back in 2008, Rodgers' first full season starting.... the packers went 6-10. Know who they drafted with their first pick that same year? Jordy Nelson, WR. Remember Jordy Nelson? All-American star WR. See the Trend there? The Browns have ignored the wr position because they had serious needs due to poor drafting at other positons for years. They draft brilliant now. It's time to draft a star WR for Baker to help the offense roll. Oh, btw, the packers went 11-5 in 09. *************************************************** Jordy Nelson From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigation Jump to search Jordy Nelson Nelson with the Green Bay Packers in 2017 No. 87, 82 Position: Wide receiver Personal information Born: May 31, 1985 (age 36) Manhattan, Kansas Height: 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) Weight: 217 lb (98 kg) Career information High school: Riley County (Riley, Kansas) College: Kansas State NFL Draft: 2008 / Round: 2 / Pick: 36 Career history Green Bay Packers (2008–2017) Oakland Raiders (2018) Career highlights and awards Super Bowl champion (XLV) NFL Comeback Player of the Year (2016) Second-team All-Pro (2014) Pro Bowl (2014) NFL receiving touchdowns leader (2016) Best Comeback Athlete ESPY Award (2017) Consensus All-American (2007) First-team All-Big 12 (2007) Career NFL statistics Receptions: 613 Receiving yards: 8,587 Receiving touchdowns: 72 Return yards: 1,436 Player stats at NFL.com · PFR Jordy Ray Nelson (born May 31, 1985) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League for 11 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and the Oakland Raiders. He played college football at Kansas State, where he received All-American honors, and was drafted by Green Bay in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. During his tenure in Green Bay, he was regarded by sports analysts as one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL, and won Super Bowl XLV with the team over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2010 season.[1][2][3][4][5] After spending 10 seasons in Green Bay, he played one year with the Oakland Raiders before announcing his retirement.
  2. and how long has Rodgers been playing the same system? with the same coaches? How long has he been in the league? All sorts of qb;s who were NOT elite have been to the superbowl. They had defenses and talented players around them to get them there. Baker is hurt, still playing, which I thought before the squealers game he should have sat on the bench....and he doesn't have a star wr to make the offense work right. and a rookie coach last year. another new system. It's more complicated than "Baker sucks, any other qb because I'm mad we didn't get to the playoffs maybe" Baker isn't Rodgers, he isn't easily replaceable when healthy. Like I said earlier, Brady laid an egg two games ago - couldn't even muster a field goal. Your idea of "the qb makes the wr's around him superstars" whatever.....I just disagree with. The Bucs lost 9-0. But, Both Evans and Godwin were hurt. Zero points. Did Brady forget how to "raise the level of play" etc etc ? nope. He didn't have his star wr's, that is what the story is. Furthermore, look at the difference between Brady and Gronkowski, and Brady without Gronkowski - a star elite TE makes a huge difference. So, Baker doesn't even have a #1 wr on the roster. Give him a star wr and see how much a huge difference that makes. If the Browns want to upgrade, I'm happy with it. It will have to be PIckett, Strong or Corral, and they will probably all be gone if the Brown win their last two games. I don't care who the qb is - if wr's don't get open, he can't throw completions to them a lot of the time. Outside of Landry - vs man to man, nope. That's why Higgins hasn't played much at all. I just wish Schwartz could have made a bigger difference his first year. Baker got the Browns to the playoffs last year. Do you think that Devonte Adams would not have made any difference?
  3. VoteVets is a hybrid political action group that operates as both a PAC and a Super PAC by donating money directly to political campaigns, and by raising and spending unlimited amounts of cash for “independent expenditures,” such as ad campaigns that target conservative candidates and issues, while supportingliberal issues and politicians. The organization operates two groups, the VoteVetsPAC and the VoteVets Action Fund. Its stated mission is to “to elect veterans to public office,” but in actuality it only backs liberals. All of the candidates VoteVetssupports for federal, state and local offices are Democrats, and all of the issues it supports promote a liberal agenda. Since it was formed in 2006, VoteVets has spent more than $120 million. Nearly half went for radio and television ads. According to FactCheck.org, VoteVetsreceives money from the Democrats and Bloomberg: “The PAC’s top three donors in 2018 were the Senate Majority PAC, the House Majority PAC and Bloomberg L.P. The organizations contributed $4.5 million, $2.2 million and $1.5 million, respectively.” While pretending to advocate on behalf of veterans and veterans’ issues, in reality VoteVets operates in lockstep with other anti-gun groups funded byBloomberg’s cash. To be clear, VoteVets advocates for more anti-gun laws and restrictions even though mostveterans own guns and strongly support the Second Amendment. While VoteVets does fund lobbying efforts, it is thegroup’s liberal public-issue campaigns – which are usually not fully disclosed or attributed – that the mainstream media laps up like hungry dogs. “They have really been punching above their weight this election cycle,” Rachel Maddow, MSNBC’s highest-paid news actor said of VoteVets. Hoodwinking readers The Washington Post and scores of other newspapers recently published an opinion column, which was actually just the latest VoteVets public-issue campaign. The headline was damning: “3 retired generals: The military must prepare now for a 2024 insurrection.” “The signs of potential turmoil in our armed forces are there. On Jan. 6, a disturbing number of veterans and active-duty members of the military took part in the attack on the Capitol. More than 1 in 10 of those charged in the attacks had a service record. A group of 124 retired military officials, under the name “Flag Officers 4 America,” released a letter echoing Donald Trump’s false attacks on the legitimacy of our elections,” the column states. It called on the Department of Defense to take “more intensive intelligence work at all installations.” “The goal should be to identify, isolate and remove potential mutineers; guard against efforts by propagandists who use misinformation to subvert the chain of command; and understand how that and other misinformation spreads across the ranks after it is introduced by propagandists,” the generals wrote. The column followed a similar bit of anti-Trump 2024 fearmongering, which was published by Newsweek, titled: “Millions of Angry, Armed Americans Stand Ready to Seize Power If Trump Loses in 2024.” In the Washington Post story, VoteVets received only an oblique mention – certainly not full disclosure – in the authors’ byline: “Paul D. Eaton, a retired U.S. Army major general and a senior adviser to VoteVets; Antonio M. Taguba, a retired Army major general, with 34 years of active-duty service, and Steven M. Anderson, a retired brigadier general who served in the U.S. Army for 31 years.” What the Post and the other media platforms that republished the syndicated column did not tell their readers was that the entire piece was little more than VoteVets’ ongoing political agitprop, and that two of the three generals are thinly veiled political activists, and apparently far more interested in partisan politics than they ever were the welfare of the troops who served under their command. The newspapers never mentioned that after he retired in 2006, Major General Easton strongly criticized the Bush Administration on multiple media platforms for its handling of the Iraq War. Nor was it disclosed that he served as a special advisor to both Hilary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns. In 2004, Major General Taguba was assigned to investigate allegations of mistreatment at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison. His report, which was extremely critical, was almost immediately leaked to the media. The stories served as an inspiration for the Iraqiinsurgency and, ultimately, cost American lives. It is still a rallying cry for our foes throughout the Middle East. After the leak was investigated, Taguba was ordered by the Army’s Vice Chief of Staff to retire. This fact, too, never made it into print. Ignorant beginnings VoteVets has a long history of advocating for more gun control. In 2012, VoteVets chairman Jon Stolz wrote a scathing op-ed column about the Trayvon Martin case, titled: “Shoot First Laws: Even troops in war zones can’t do that.” Stolz’s column, which was widely republished, excoriated “Stand Your Ground” laws in Florida and other states. “The Trayvon Martin case has gripped the nation and forced the country to re-examine our gun laws. But the horrible affair has struck me in another way, because of my two tours in Iraq,” Stolz wrote. “One fact stands out in my mind: The ‘Stand Your Ground’ law in Florida, which may let George Zimmerman off the hook for the killing of Martin, gives more leeway to shooters than our own military gives to soldiers in war.” The problem with Stolz’s column is that his premise is 100% wrong. The Trayvon Martin shooting was never a “Stand Your Ground” case. Zimmerman never invoked the immunity the statute provides. Stolz’s subsequent comparisons between Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law and the military’s Rules of Engagement were completely moot. One year later, VoteVets joined with Giffords, Michael Bloomberg and Bloomberg’s proxy group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, in opposing the 2013 Colorado recall, which successfully removed two Democratic state senators who supported new gun-control legislation. VoteVets ran ads speaking, falsely, on behalf of the veterans’ community. It was the first time a Colorado lawmaker had ever been recalled. “Good” anti-gun messengers In 2018, VoteVets barnstormed across the country with Gabby Giffords’ anti-gun group. “We’re hitting the campaign trail with @VoteVets! Ahead of this year’s election,” Giffords tweeted on Aug. 20, 2018. The two groups supported anti-gun candidates in Pennsylvania, Colorado, California, New Jersey, Virginia and Kentucky. “For a long time, Democrats have been playing defense on issue of gun safety,” Dan Helmer, VoteVets vice-president told a McClatchy newspaper. “We see a trend across the country where, increasingly, the American people are demanding change.” VoteVets and Giffords both said veterans made “especially good messengers for policies that restrict access to guns.” “They have the ‘platform and credibility’ to talk about the issue,” Helmer said. “No one more than vets know just how deadly some of these weapons can be. Nor have others proven so dedicated to defending the country.” Giffords and VoteVets called the candidates they supported “part of a new generation of leaders challenging gun-lobby backed politicians.” “Military veterans know that weapons of war have no place in our schools, in our places of worship, at concerts, at night clubs and in our communities. Too many in Congress are afraid to take on the NRA and pass meaningful legislation supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans to reduce gun violence,” Helmer said in a joint press release. “The veteran candidates we are meeting with on this tour have already answered the call of duty once and bravely stood up to defend and serve this nation. They have the courage to stand up to the NRA and fight for legislation to protect our communities from the epidemic of gun violence. We are proud to partner with Captain Kelly and Giffords on this tour.” Democratic, not veterans issues According to its Facebook page, VoteVets claims to be “the first and largest progressive group of veterans in America.” “We represent over 1.5 million veterans, military families, and their civilian supporters,” the site states. However, the issues posted on Facebook and its other social media accounts reveal that the group is far more aligned with the Democratic Party than any veterans’ community – even a progressive one. VoteVets advocates for Vaccine mandates, “accountability” for the Jan. 6 protest, Joe Biden’s Build Back Better plan, climate change, abortion rights, Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, Critical Race Theory, GBLT issues, voting rights and of course more gun control. Biden and Kamala Harris receive nothing but praise, while Donald Trump and other Republican lawmakers receive nothing but criticism – intense criticism. Real veterans’ issues, such as dysfunctions within the VA, civilian job resources, posttraumatic stress disorder, suicide prevention, POW/MIA, disability benefits and illnesses caused by burn-pit exposure, are rarely, if ever, mentioned. To be clear, VoteVets regurgitates nothing but liberal talking points rather than advocating for veterans as it claims. Takeaways It’s no secret why anti-gun groups believe veterans would make good messengers for their rhetoric. Veterans have the credibility that they never will. Unfortunately for Giffords, Brady and Bloomberg, most veterans are too politically savvy to fall for their anti-rights shenanigans. Besides, every veteran I know owns guns – every single one. While I’m sure there are some who don’t, I’ve never met one, but I’ll admit I tend not to run in those circles. Vets, especially those who served in the combat arms, understand the importance of being able to defend themselves and their families, which is why they are such strong protectors of the Second Amendment. VoteVets has its supporters, of that I am sure, but the group doesn’t speak on behalf of the vast majority of veterans, and they certainly don’t speak for me. Quite frankly, I find what they’re doing – pushing a liberal agenda under the guise of advocating for veterans – sickening. It’s time for them to stop pretending they’re working on our behalf. 4. I can't find any tests. The local library used to give them out. They've ordered some, but can't get em. Way to go, brandon.
  5. Odd, I clicked on Green Bay every single year, and Devonte Adams was there with a lot of catches. He missed some games and they still won. OK, but that is 114 games over all the years that they DID have Adams playing. It's a team game. Did they lose games because Rodgers was just an "average" qb? Did Rodgers ever play most of a season with a broken shoulder, badly torn labrum ? Makes some folks wonder how Rodgers would have done with no Adams. That's 652 catches for 7,930 yards they would have lacked. Rodgers is great, so on, and so on. But Rodgers would have suffered badly had he gone to the Browns. Baker piloted them to the playoffs last year. This year is a debacle. Getting rid of Baker does not fix the wide receiver problem the Browns have had for some years. https://www.nfl.com/players/davante-adams/stats/career Receiving YEAR TEAM G REC YDS AVG LNG TD 1st 1st% 20+ 40+ TOTAL 114 652 7930 12.2 436 72 397 60.89 102 25 2021 Green Bay Packers 14 106 1362 12.9 59 10 73 68.87 18 4 2020 Green Bay Packers 14 115 1374 12 56 18 73 63.48 18 5 2019 Green Bay Packers 12 83 997 12 58 5 54 65.06 12 2 2018 Green Bay Packers 15 111 1386 12.5 57 13 64 57.66 18 5 2017 Green Bay Packers 14 74 885 12 55 10 45 60.81 8 3 2016 Green Bay Packers 16 75 997 13.3 66 12 45 60 17 4 2015 Green Bay Packers 13 50 483 9.7 40 1 20 40 6 1 2014 Green Bay Packers 16 38 446 11.7 45 3 23 60.53 5 1

  7. It's similar to working from home. Given a choice, heck yes, I loved working from home when I did. A lot of people aren't working because of covid. They have elderly grandmothers and grandfathers living at home maybe, or they have a spouse that has low resistance at the current time for different reasons. And, there are those who can do just fine on limited income payments because of covid, and they won't get rich by going to work either. We have friends who are retired, and wear masks outside. And haven't eaten inside a restaurant since the beginning of the covid mess. They won't go into a grocery store, for goodness sakes. Going to work? big risk for those who don't want to get it, or bring it home. Imagine if the virus had been 50% lethal and went all over the entire world. Nobody would be going to work.
  8. Notes: Tanner Morgan is interesting, but he's reportedly staying in school for '22. I think Baker was terrific last year, when he had a non-pouting obj with Landry. But after being hurt, it's high draft choice. He can't be himself, and the Browns don't have a legit number one. Hoorta mentioned Murray - he is doing great - the difference, to me, is that Murray has Christian Kirk, similar to Jarvis Landry as a #2....and Murray has A. J. Green, 6'4" previously 4th overall pick by the Bengals as his number one. And, of course, Murray can flat out run for yardage too. Baker has been playing hurt, not himself, and Baker healthy with a big, fast #1 WR would have a much easier time to make the offense roar. Aaron Rodgers has Devonte Adams. Without Adams, Rodgers would have a LOT harder time. I believe we can see the Baker last year, when they went to the playoffs, next year after he gets his freakin surgery.... so I guess they will sign a veteran backup qb (Keenum surely will retire, maybe we'll find out why they never let Keenum step up). First or second round, WR in the spring NFL draft. After that, who knows. The stupidest think Baker has done this season, is to whip his left arm out to stop a guy flying the other direction with an int. With all the criticism of Baker, I still think he is a fine steering wheel to the car. That last game was a debacle, including Baker's struggles to throw well most of the time. But, the oline is the engine, and it was missing 4 of five starting pistons. And, as been all season, the wr group, the car has been missing one tire the whole time. The only saving grace for the Browns, is that they have one of the most excellent transmissions, the running backs, in the league. You don't fix the tires by changing the steering wheel. So, there ya go...that's how I see it.
  9. no freaking way. I'd rather the Browns trade up and draft Pickett. The cost would be less, even just considering draft picks. Dumping on Baker does not fix the wr problem.
  10. Exactly. Like I've said before - Wife's best friend got it, was in the hospital four days, and she's diabetic with a heart surgery in her past. But she was treated and was fine. Her husband, refused to go to the hospital - they had both gotten it on vacation - and got so sick by the time he went, it was too late. He died after three days in. They were a few years from retirement. We've been retired for some years, I retired early cause I could, lol, we got our vaccines, early in the year, then got our booster before going to N. Carolina for Thanksgiving. Went 2.5 weeks to N. Colorado, 2 1/2 days, and a week and a half in Custer State park, S. Carolina. Went anywhere we wanted to go, masks indoors, hand sanitizer, no covid. When covid really hit, we stayed indoors for about a few months? then I started going out more to the stores, gas, etc. We had fun doing jigsaw puzzles, movies, played a lot of cards. Had a lot of fun. But then, you have to know to go live your life, we decided. We're still careful, but planning a few grand vacations camping next year. The "one size fits all" is stupid. It's more authoritarian collectivism than good intentions by the gov.
  11. Nothing wrong with living at home, especially with your Parent's situation. Smart.
  12. So, I fell asleep. lol. Good call... dammit. Great food. My Wife told me how it ended. Now, We'll see the Chiefs play without Kelce and how it goes. Great Christmas food leftovers! And my own recipe pumpkin pie .... is way too good.
  13. QUESTION: Watching the ratbird-bengal game, the bengals challeged a no call on "too many men on the field" on the ratbirds. It turned out, both teams did ... LOL. So....why couldn't the Browns have thrown the flag and challenged the no call at that time when Peoples-Jones was deliberately held and it ended up in an int? I don't remember, did they not have a time out? I think they did. Even with no time outs, I think a team should be to challenge refs in the last two minutes. It's stupid for refs to not have any accountability by the NFL for all the bad calls/no calls we're seeing this season.
  14. from watching the beginning of the ratbirds vs bengals game just now.... the ratbirds lost both starting qbs, signed some guy that has been with 13 different teams...... put him on the field, and HE throws right down the field to wide open Bateman, wide open Andrews, wide open Brown, open Bateman, ....etc for a TD. Bateman, and Brown were all first round draft picks. Andrews, TE, 3rd round. and Sammy Watkins was a first round draft pick. So, apprently, it doesn't matter who the qb is for the ratbirds.... just sayin...... BTW, the Bucs lost wr's Godwin and Evans to injury - and and Antonio Brown was still finishing suspension.... the Bucs lost 9-0.

  18. Interesting question regarding Pickett. Suppose he's there... the Browns could draft PIckett, let him sit in the last year of Baker starting under the current contract....then they decide. Apparently, the Browns need to draft a backup qb since they wouldn't put Keenum on the field. Or, Baker can't play next year because his surgery recovery takes too long - Pickett could start. It's a deep draft for wide receivers. Let's seem how would that look: lol. First Round - Pickett, qb. Second round - Jalen Tolbert, S. Alabama. Who knows. It's crazy.
  19. I could easily be wrong - but I saw it differently. I think the pass was for Landry to cut back to the ball, but he slipped. https://sports.yahoo.com/packers-21-12-half-third-230215802.html?fr=sychp_catchall "The third came on a throw intended for Jarvis Landry that never had a shot of getting to the wideout because Landry wasn’t looking for the ball and fell down as Rasul Douglas stepped in front of him. " I said it back then - they should have taken Baker out and not start him against the steelers. Why they would not let Keenum play... is a mystery. Maybe they feel he can't throw well anymore? A healthy Baker showed exactly who he is, last year. This year is just a disaster in several ways. They may ruin Baker if they keep it up.
  20. I hadn't realized that. Seems dumb alright. The Packers defense is better with the pass, pretty poor vs the run..... I'm starting to think the Browns coaches are out-coaching themselves amid all the problems this year.
  21. yep. Here's what I think. The Browns need a "Devonta Adams. They don't have one. They need their offensive line starters, didn't have them. What ? Bitonio had to play LT, backup Dunn? at Lg, Harris at Center (first start), They DID have Teller (who falsely got called for illegal motion at a critical time), and they had Hance at Rt. So, the Browns battlled like they were trying to save earth from Darth Vader and the rest. I was proud of them. Baker still playing hurt, has a few misthrows here and there...... Landry fell down and it was a pick, was a good throw by Baker. Another int that lost the game for the Browns......was Peoples-Jones being totally interfered with/held NO CALL. THAT has to be investigated. What the )(*&&? It isn't just me: https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports/nfl/browns/browns-packers-no-call-pass-intereference/95-6ac59e7b-d97e-49cc-90a3-dcddbcb51aae Watch: Controversial no-call seals Cleveland Browns' loss to Green Bay Packers **************************************************** Something is going on with Case Keenum - or Baker should have just gotten surgery.... but the Browns don't have a star #1 WR. Actually, the Browns had a few minutes more of offense possesion. Even playing hurt with a shoulder broken, Baker outpassed Rodgers in yardage. Baker - 222 yards, Rodgers 202. Baker's yards per pass attempt: 6.2. Rodgers: 5.9 The Browns made 58% of their 3rd Downs. Packers - only 30% Devonta Adams had 10 receptions. The Browns top wr, Higgins - who is really good against zone coverage, had five. SO... with Baker getting sacked five times, Rodgers doesn't get sacked once, but Garrett was in pain trying to play and Clowney out, Harrison and Newsome and Johnson were OUT... and the Browns lost a low scoreing game by two points. ******************************************* reaching for a different quarterback is baloney. Most teams the Browns play have star #1 Wr's. If I were deciding for the Browns... Wr would be the #1 priority. The Browns have to upgrade the wr position. I think they will draft two this upcoming draft. The Browns have not paid attention to the wr group for years. Peoples-Jones - 6th round. Scwartz - 3rd round. that's it. The Browns need a serious star #1 wr. Landry is good, but draws way too much attention, Schwartz doesn't play a play but rarely, but did a great job on his TD pass and end-a-around. **************************************************** For example - the Eagles gave up on Carson Wentz. poor wr group. Carson Wentz is starring with the Colts. The Eagles drafted Hurts, qb, in the second round in 2020. 2021 - they realized wr was the problem, so they drafted Devonta Smith, wr, tenth overall. The Colts have Michael Pittman, 2nd round star wr, 34th overall pick. Colts just beat Washington - Wentz is still Wentz, Colts seem to be going to the playoffs. ************************************************** FINAL NOTES: Gotta love Jarvis Landry. But he is only 5'10". Pittman is 6'4". Devonte Adams is 6'1". Bigger target, better odds of having the height advantage over a lot of corners, I think. Landry has only one TD this year. Schwartz got his first TD vs the Packers. (btw, Schwartz is a slightly bigger target at 6') So, it isn't all on Baker at all. But he needs surgery to be ready for next year. And the Browns need a big target, #1 WR you betcha.
  22. Rule #4 Don't buy a huge, really expensive house that you can't afford to put furniture in....
