Had his worst year ever.  But then, he only played 5 games.   Was he hurt?  Does he have anything left?

Anyone else seeing this news of Richard Sherman possibilities? Didn’t see it posted anywhere. Apparently he may want to come play for Woods. He’s older, but damn we need secondary help.

That old horse ain't what he used to be. Agree with Tia. Hard pass... The silly season started with those Watson rumors a week ago....

Sherman will turn age 33, about the same time the FA window opens.. And...we don't need, coin flipping headcases that lie to fire up our sidelines pregame..  We need more Baker's that knew he did shake his hand...

solid pass! but, The new Jets HC may not?

Not sure how much gas he has left in the tank.

Agree, but unlike the other replies I would not pass without bringing him in for a visit, a physical, etc.

If healthy, then I see the potential to mix a great vet into a young CB corp... a spot starter at CB... a sometime box Safety... and a vocal leader on the D-side where none has emerged to date.

Head case? A laughable label...

And yet it's Sherman who Kittle looks up to every single day at 49ers practice. Even though Sherman plays on the other side of the ball, Kittle is watching his every move.

"His work ethic every single snap. Every snap for him is a Super Bowl rep," Kittle said in an interview with NBC Sports' Peter King. "He's not gonna let anyone beat him on any single rep. His mindset is always that I'm the best and nobody can beat me."

Kittle believes the way Sherman handles his business has a domino effect on the entire 49ers team.

If healthy,

GIF dreamworks, mr peapody sherman, this movie actually looks super cute, best animated GIFs and im pretty excited, free download   some teams would still pass him 🤩..

Yep! Sherman would fit into a young teams position leader role.. but, It's guys like Sherman? I'd wonder what his ticket price would be next season as a Veteran Rental? stay tuned.. I'd bet Joe Woods has his phone digits

As with all players, the question isn't if he'd come, the question is.. at what price.  2M? Sure, we're probably paying more to a priority UDFA. 8M? Hard, hard pass.

Yes, i'm sure it's true that Watching Bitonio Work Each Day is good for Wills' career.. but given that Wills is a professional in his own right with an NFL-level position coach, how much of his development is directly attributable only to Bitonio?

Same thing for Sherman.. It's fun to watch him execute the rep ahead of you, but Sherman isn't going to make up for bad picks or bad defensive schemes.  It's not Sherman that "develops" the player, it's the player and the position coach putting in the hours when nobody else is around.

Every time you hear someone say XYZ will Change The Character... OK, great.. in exactly what way and by how much? And when you can't measure it.. It didn't happen. And to be clear: Something may be observed.. but it's simply not correct to conclude that only one thing [Sherman joining] was the single reason for it.

TB won the super bowl.  But Bucs had been stacked for years and only lacked QB. Also, the Pats don't need a character change just because they didn't win.

It seems odd that you of all people would consider someone that got into tiffs with reporters to have a character issue.

So not even for the right price to help a struggling secondary while younger guys are being groomed

No.

This is "conventional wisdom" BS that actually means nothing.

1) It's not Sherman that "develops" the player, it's the player and the position coach who put in the hours when nobody else is around.

Without googling, name one trait that Wills developed this past season only because he was "being groomed" by Bitonio.. and not because of Wills' individual work outside of practice. Show proof.

2) Sherman has said he wants to play 3 more in SF and retire and so this entire thread is really much ado about nothing.

3) His contract was 14M last season and he's only a 67.7 rating. You know, no better than Money Mitch.  Niners DB saw a comeback POY year from Verrett [he'd win that award in any other year than Smith's return from injury] and another great one from Kwaun Williams.. Sherman's no longer either elite or a plus D contributor.

If he's only asking Mitch's salary level, great! But beware.. Mitch was paid 3.7 last year, and we may not be able to replicate that.

Kevin Johnson was a decent-player-injury-recovery flier that didn't work.. one of the things with secondaries these days is that we have to get lucky with draft picks [TB with Dean drafted in rd3 becoming a top80 overall player] or injury [SF with Verrett] to be great.

Sherman's declining athleticism and his body injured all of 2020 is.. not the type of FA deal we should be leaping into.

Great post, this is exactly why he should be a "no" at all costs for the short-term. The browns need defensive help, and I absolutely like the idea of getting solid veteran guys. Sherman ain't it, though. On the edge and in the secondary we need to get faster and more agile. Richard isn't either of those. Now, if he doesn't get scooped up in the early FA market and we don't see development or recovery? Maybe.

I thought this was about Rush Limbaugh for a second...

Yeah, a team that needs speed in the secondary going after a 33 year old guy who even in his prime was never a burner never seemed real likely to me.

Oh god I remember that as a kid.....knew every word of it.

I always  wondered if the Leonard Skinner mentioned in this song was  the same Leonard Skinner that became a Gym teacher in which Lynyrd Skynyrd  named the band after.....but, probably not,  though it would make a great tale;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Skinner

If Westside Steve had done the same thing...named his band after our high school gym teacher,  instead of Easy Street,  they would have become known as:    Tony Prasher.    Or, if he had named them after the guy that really gave him shit in high school over his long hair, the band would have been named:   Ralph Beddow    or some variation thereof.  (Asst. Principal)
