Who is going to Vegas with Me if we win the Super Bowl

Recommended Posts

A bit of a crazy thread, admittedly, but:

I  made a bet when I was in Las Vegas in February past.....BCV (before Corona Virus).   I  put  9 bucks down at the Orleans  Casino on the Browns to win the Super Bowl.

If we WIN......my 9 bucks wins me $234.00.   And if we win  I am going to Vegas  to collect and to PARTY  ...even though obviously the winnings would not cover the cost of the trip.

Who wants to go?      There are no restrictions on travel in effect now if you go to Vegas,  and I anticipate getting my vaccine before too long.   I can get very cheap accommodations.  Like less than $500 for a week for a 2BR condo.

I had a trip scheduled for Northern Calif. in mid January that I am certain to get fucked out of.  Plus one to New Mexico in April...and that state has like THE strictest travel rules right now.  So that trip may get dumped.    But, Vegas could be calling!  Who's up for it if we WIN!

Oh yes the gambler in you is coming out..... again.

Actually I hope to hell the BROWNS make it to the big game.  Cleveland and Ohio and beyond would go nuts.  LV will be in Tampa and on CBS, our Florida dawgs will go nuts !

Oh I'll pass this year.

I have been going to Las Vegas for years.  I am not known when I walk in a casino, but I am known well enough I get hotel and flight offers all the time.  The last one was 3 nights at Paris for $35 a night.  If I go, I'll skip the condo and just stay on the strip.

I have stayed at Paris many times.  I like the hotel.  It is connected with Bally's next door.  Between the two, I have all the shows, casino and dining options I need. The last couple of trips, we never ventured outside the two properties.  Well, I didn't.  My wife ventured out across the street to the Venetian and Caesars to shop some of the stores one afternoon.

I think you meant the Bellagio. Venetian is on your side further down the strip towards downtown.

The timeshare where I own is right on the Strip.  Polo Towers. You probably know it.  Though, for the price I am talking about that would probably not be the place.

I was never big on Buffets.  The last few times I partook of a buffet I was sick afterwards.  I prefer a nice, set meal.

You haven't lived until you go to a buffet on a Friday night around 6 at the first of the month.

I was dragged to one on Arlington Rd a few years ago in that exact scenario. It was like The People Of Walmart website was having auditions.

I think I know what place you mean.   I think it was called Ryan's.   I went there once.  It was dirty, and the food sucked, no matter how little of it you ate.   No longer there I do not believe.

The last place I did go for a buffet was  The Barn in Smithville.  Now, that IS a very good buffet.  It was clean, and the food was good, and it was a reasonable price....but ,because it was good one just has a tendency to gorge oneself.......and you pay the price afterwards.    So, I DO like The Barn, but if I go again, it would be just for a straight meal, not the buffet.

In downtown Vegas on Fremont Street Experience. That might be worth it.

Was suppose to go on April 10th, like everything else covid fucked it up. Haven't been there since the mid 2000s, would have been my girls first trip. Love the old strip and drinking out our footballs. Gonna have to waste a ton of time on the phone before the 1st (got an extension till the end of the year) getting a refund or a charge back because I simply won't get a plane right now. Ain't safe.

April of this year?  or last year?

If this coming year.....Vegas IS open.     You just have to do the right thing.....wear your mask,  social distance....sanitize....wash hands etc.   You COULD do it.  But obviously, if you wouldn't feel safe about it, that is clearly your option.

About 2 million people in this country have received the shot so far.  Supposedly that number could grow to over 11 million by the end of the year, i.e. by the end of this week.

I am hoping to get it sometime in January.    I am on the list at my pharmacy, but I may also call my doctor in the next day or so to see if she can get me scheduled.

Figures from the CDC.....again, this number is supposed to be through the end of the year.   First dose.:

The U.S. is allocating 5.1 million doses of Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine  and 6 million doses of Moderna’s shot for distribution through this week. Both vaccines require two doses taken several weeks apart. The second doses are being held in reserve until they’re ready to be administered.

I have a friend in his mid 70s who lives there and normally goes to the sports books during pro and college football season. But this year he is staying totally away. History of heart problems so he knows it would be foolish to take any chances until vaccination is widespread.

Thank you very much. He's staying hunkered down quite well. He's 100% service connected for his heart problem and over age 75, so he will be high priority on the VA vaccine program.

I go every year for the SB. Me and my bro-in law get comped at Ceasar's resorts (he gambles alot!) Last couple years, The D in old vegas has been putting up a pretty nice outdoor venue https://www.thed.com/meetings-events/sporting-events/ (giant TV screen and most of you $$ back that you pay for entrance on a card for alcohol). Obviously they aren't doing that this year. I already have my airfare scheduled and he has our room booked at Harrah's,  but I will probably pass on it this year. I got the Covid vaccine last week and will receive the second shot on 1/11/21, but I'm still probably not going to chance it.

I also bought a $20: 40-1 ticket last year when I was there for the SB that the Browns would win SB LV. Would love to be there if they get there. We haven't cancelled our reservations yet!?!?!?

So?  You would win like 800 bucks?   Seems like you got much higher odds than I did on my ticket which was about  25-1.  I bought that ticket  the exact same day as the Super Bowl last year, where I watched part of it at the Orleans Casino and part of it at the end at my resort unit.  So it seems we may have been there the same time.   Which Casino did you make your bet?  Caesar's?
