Zak Herbstriet to OSU.....a loaded draft class, again.   From BUCKNUTS.....

family tradition by aWednesdayttending Ohio State. Just hours later, Kirk Herbstreit reacted to his son’s decision on social media.

Zak Herbstreit posted on Twitter that he would be playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes as a preferred walk-on in the 2021 signing class. That makes him the third generation of Herbstreit to play for the program. His father, Kirk, was a quarterback for the team from 1989 to 1992 and was a team captain.

When Zak broke the news, his father chimed in with a message of congratulations for him. The elder Herbstreit is excited to watch his son put on a Buckeye uniform for the next few years.

“Congrats my man,” Herbstreit said. “So proud of you. Chase your dreams. Your family is here to support you and love you all way through. So cool to see you headed to Ohio St. We’re beyond excited for you!”

Zak Herbstreit is a senior tight end for MBA in Nashville, and he revealed his college choice on Wednesday as he expressed his excitement to become a member of the Ohio State program.

“Beyond excited to announce that I will be accepting a PWO and continue my academic and athletic career at the Ohio State University! Dream come true!” Herbstreit tweeted on Wednesday.

Zak will join a 2021 class that is currently ranked best in the Big Ten and No. 2 in the country, trailing only Alabama.

Herbstreit will be the third member of his family to play for Ohio State. While many know about his father who played for the Buckeyes from 1989-92 and threw for 2,437 yards mostly in his final two seasons, younger Buckeye fans may not be familiar with Zak's grandfather, Jim, who was a member of the Scarlet and Gray from the late 1950s to the early 1960s and was a captain for the 1960 Ohio State team that finished No. 3 in the AP Poll.

This decision by Zak Herbstreit will create a bit of a family rivalry on New Year’s Day when Clemson plays Ohio State in the College Football Playoff Semifinal. Zak’s older brothers, Ty and Jake, both walked on at Clemson in 2019.
