Comparative Schedules

The Browns are in competition with a number of teams for a playoff spot, each of whom have either 3 or 4 losses thus far. .   Let's look at the remaining schedules for them and their competition.  (I am not including Pitts and KC):

Browns:   At  JAX;  At  Tenn;    Home Ravens ;  At Giants;  At Jets; Home Pittsburgh.   Four Road games,  3 vs. playoff contenders

Ravens:  At Steelers;  Home Cowboys;  At Browns;  Home Jags;  Home Giants; At Bengals.....3 Road games,  2 vs. playoff contenders

Colts:  Home Titans;  At Houston; At Raiders;  Home Houston; At Pittsburgh;  Home JAX...3 Road games, 3 vs playoff contenders

Titans:  At  Indy;  Home Browns; At JAX;  Home Lions;  At Packers; Home HOuston.....3 Road games, 3 vs. playoff contenders

RAiders:  At  Atlanta;  At  NY Jets;  Home Colts;  Home Chargers; Home Miami;  At Denver.....3 Road games; 2 against playoff contenders

Dolphins:   At NY Jets;  Home Bengals; Home Chiefs; Home Pats;  At Raiders;  At Bills.....3 Road games.  3 vs. playoff contenders

Bills:  Home Chargers; At 49ers; Home Steelers; At Denver;  At Patriots;  Home Dolphins .....3 road games,  2 against playoff contenders.

Note:  I did not include the 6 loss Pats and Broncos in playoff contenders....not that those would be easy games...

On the face of this, I stick with the theory that the Browns have the toughest schedule....4 road and 3 playoff contenders.   I can only hope that those  3 "easy" road games turn out to be just that....sure wins.

Easiest then would be Raiders....only 2 more games against playoff contenders....both of them at home.   Though, the Bills also have the same....2 games vs. contenders, both at home.

Here is something else to consider:    Ravens play at Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving night.   If they lose and If the Browns were to beat the Jags on Sunday then, they would open up a full 2 game lead over the RFs.......

Should we...God forbid,   be pulling for the Steelers to pull that off?

Current standings here:

Bills  8-3    inside track to AFCE  title

Titans 8-3  inside track on AFCS title

Browns   8-3  which for now put us on top of the WC race

Dolphins  7-4  We do not play them, but for now we do own the edge also in conference record.

Colts  7-4....plus we have the head to head advantage on them.

Ravens  6-4....play Steelers on Tuesday.....we could end up with 2 game lead....but we do have to play them again. ...plus they beat us once.

Raiders  6-5.  we now have 2 game lead.....or 1 game as they have tiebreak on us.

IMHO...the Browns still have the toughest remaining schedule:  Tits/Rats/Squibs. Plus road games at Jets/Giants

On any given Sunday Gipper. Go figure the Raiders getting destroyed by the Falcons. I hope the Browns loss to them won't be a factor in the long run.  Play the "what if" game where we beat the Giants and Jets. Looking at the schedules- who else has a shot at 10-6? Browns beat one of the other teams- Titans, Ratbirds, or Steelers- 11-5 is a lock playoff berth this year.

The Titans actually could be the toughest game left.

If the Steelers aren't playing for a perfect record, they might not even play starters in the last week of the season. Then again they might push the Ravens game to a week 18?

If the Ravens drop another game to the Steelers they could go on a slide.

Unfortunately with the defense the Browns trot out on the field.... if any of those teams decide to show up and play.... it will be ugly.

We’re by no means on track for the top WC spot. There’s a very realistic scenario of us being 10-6 and not getting in, and if we do get in as the 7 seed we’d get KC at KC 1st rd.

play around with this playoff predictor- pretty interesting. Bottom line- this Tenn game is huge.

11-5 would be a lock, but we really don’t want to be the 7 seed playing @KC. Need to be rooting against Buff, LV, Tenn, Baltimore, and Indy every game they play.

Quite frankly I see us going 1-4 down the stretch. A winning season that is still at least a LB, TE and Safety away from playoffs next year. I mean CB injuries and Sendejo---really? He will account for at least two of those 4 losses just on his own.😱

Update:

Browns:    At  Tenn;    Home Ravens ;  At Giants;  At Jets; Home Pittsburgh.   Three  Road games,  3 vs. playoff contenders

Ravens:    Home Cowboys;  At Browns;  Home Jags;  Home Giants; At Bengals.....2 Road games,  1 vs. playoff contenders...the Browns

Colts: At Houston; At Raiders;  Home Houston; At Pittsburgh;  Home JAX...3 Road games, 2 vs playoff contenders

Titans: Home Browns; At JAX;  Home Lions;  At Packers; Home HOuston.....2 Road games, 2 vs. playoff contenders

RAiders:   At  NY Jets;  Home Colts;  Home Chargers; Home Miami;  At Denver.....2  Road games; 2 against playoff contenders

Dolphins:   Home Bengals; Home Chiefs; Home Pats;  At Raiders;  At Bills.....2 Road games.  3 vs. playoff contenders...or 4 if you count Pats.

Bills:   At 49ers; Home Steelers; At Denver;  At Patriots;  Home Dolphins .....3 road games,  2 against playoff contenders....3 if you include Pats.

Note: I think we have to add the Pats to the list of playoff contenders.  They are 5-6, and just one game behind Ravens/Raiders...so they are still in position.

On the face of this, I stick with the theory that the Browns have the toughest schedule...But now maybe Dolphins are also facing an equally tough schedule.

Easiest now would be the Ravens....3 of last 5 at home....only 1 game vs. a contender:  Browns.   Good that we have that now 2 game lead.

Update:

Browns:    Home Ravens ;  At Giants;  At Jets; Home Pittsburgh.   2  Road games,  3 vs. playoff contenders  9-3

Ravens:    Home Cowboys;  At Browns;  Home Jags;  Home Giants; At Bengals.....2 Road games,  2 vs. playoff contenders...the Browns/Giants (7-5 assuming they beat the hapless 'Pokes)

Colts: ;    At Raiders;  Home Houston; At Pittsburgh;  Home JAX...2 Road games, 2 vs playoff contenders 8-4

Titans:     At JAX;  Home Lions;  At Packers; Home HOuston.....2 Road games, 1 vs. playoff contenders 8-4

RAiders:   Home Colts;  Home Chargers; Home Miami;  At Denver.....2  Road games; 2 against playoff contenders 7-5 and hold tiebreak on Browns

Dolphins:   Home Chiefs; Home Pats;  At Raiders;  At Bills.....2 Road games.  4 vs. playoff contenders 8-4

Bills:   At 49ers; Home Steelers; At Denver;  At Patriots;  Home Dolphins .....3 road games,  2 against playoff contenders....3 if you include Pats. ? 8-3 and tough game against the 49ers tonight

Cheatriots- at Rams, at Dolphins, Home Bills, Home Jets   Three playoff teams, 6-6 No way they can run the table to get to 10-6 which IMHO is what it will take to make the playoffs.

I think the Dolphins now have the toughest schedule, all things considered.  All 4 of their games are against playoff contenders.

Titans probably have the easiest....with only the Packers as a playoff team.

Hope you don't mind my edit Gip...:)

Next Update:

Update:

Browns:    Home Ravens ;  At Giants;  At Jets; Home Pittsburgh.   2  Road games,  3 vs. playoff contenders  9-3 (Giants still considered playoff contender)

Ravens:     At Browns;  Home Jags;  Home Giants; At Bengals.....2 Road games,  2 vs. playoff contenders...the Browns/Giants

Colts: ;      Home Houston; At Pittsburgh;  Home JAX...1 Road games, 1 vs playoff contenders

Titans:      Home Lions;  At Packers; Home HOuston.....1 Road games, 1 vs. playoff contenders

RAiders:     Home Miami;  At Denver.....1  Road games; 1 against playoff contenders; and hold tiebreak on Browns

Dolphins:  Home Pats;  At Raiders;  At Bills.....2 Road games.  3 vs. playoff contenders if we still consider Pats a contender..though I think they are hanging on by a string

Bills:     At Denver;  At Patriots;  Home Dolphins ....  Two game lead with 3 to play in their division....which I think we can probably give them)

Notes:

Chiefs have clinched their division

Steelers have clinched playoff spots....but not their division, which Browns could still win with luck.

I am giving the Bills the AFC East.

Either Colts or Tits will take AFCS.  The other is a likely WC team.

Aside from the above,  the only other teams that could ...mathematically  make playoffs are:

Dolphins 8-5;  Ravens  7-5; Raiders  7-6; Pats  6-7; Broncos  5-8.

Raiders loss tonight helps.

One of our main competitors....Dolphins has tough remaining schedule as you see:  Raiders/Bills/Pats.

Ratfuckercocksuckers  are still our biggest threat to the top WC spot.

Like the Browns, the Dolphins have really been a surprise. This Flores guy can coach.

They went from "tanking" to 5 wins last year. A bunch of draft picks this off season.

The AFC looking real tough now & the future.
