AFC Playoff Picture

Time to start this weekly feature.

After 8 weeks (NFC Game tonight), the Browns are 5-3 and the #7 seed in the playoffs, they would play at Kansas City in the Wild Card Round.

This week's Games with implications:

1. Baltimore at Indy. We can't lose with this one, as both teams are ahead of us, and one will lose. Makes sense to go with the team we already beat versus the team in our division that already beat us, so GO COLTS.

2. Vegas at LA Chargers. Raiders have a tiebreaker over us now for the rest of the season, so it is important to keep them behind us, so GO CHARGERS.

3. Pittsburgh at Dallas. Snowball's chance in hell, but any given Sunday, right? GO COWBOYS.

Remaining Wishlist:

SEATTLE @ Buffalo

CAROLINA @ Kc

Miami @ ARIZONA

Denver @ ATLANTA

TGZ

Lots can happen, and I'm looking forward to it.

Yesterday was a letdown for sure, but this BYE may have come at the perfect time. Get everybody healthy, and the coaches can regroup.

Feels early, Z, but thanks for kickin' it off....

I'm eyeballing those currently behind us who could make a 2nd half push. While there are a few that could make some noise, my eyes keep drifting back to the Fins.

MIA's D is playing really well now. And while they've made the bold move to check out their reconstructed rookie QB, they've got a pretty good supporting cast around him.

Tell you one thing... I'm glad we don't see Cinci again this season. They are starting to believe in themselves...

I would say go Ratbirds as we hold the tiebreaker against the Colts.

Not a lot of help today. The Ravens knocked the Colts back, but we knew one of them would lose. Denver lost, they probably won't be a factor.

Browns, Colts, Raiders and Dolphins are all 5-3 at the halfway point, when they figure out the tiebreaker, two will be in position for a wild card at the turn, and two will be on the outside looking in.

Realistically, it's highly unlikely the Browns are making it to the playoffs via the divisional championship route. And with the wins by Miami and LA Raiders today, the wildcard picture is looking a bit crowded.

Browns are going to have to play lights out on the back 9 of this season to earn a wildcard berth.

As someone said,  we have games left against the teams that right now have 3 of the worst records in the league:   Jets/Jags/Giants.  Plus the team with the 7th worst record, DATs.

So, just based on that, don't count us out.

Your Miami Dolphins are 5-3 and currently in the playoffs if the season ended today. They hold the No.7 spot due to a tiebreaker over the Browns. A long journey from the 'tanking' convo that drove 2019. They've found the right coach and maybe the right QB too.

For us scoreboard watching? ^^... Go beat the Texans !!

I wouldn't say highly unlikely as we have a favourable schedule and the health of the team is improving.

i don't think we make it.....i thought at first we would....long way to go but i do not see us beating houston who is not a very good team, but they have watson who will probably in the end win the game for them....we suck against qb's like him....we aint beating pitt or balt unless maybe pitt has nothing to play for at the end of the season and will sit starters....but then again we lost to them last yr with a fucking 3rd string qb...philly in a shitty division will probably have something to play for when we get to them in a couple weeks....toss up there....jets and jags we should win...the giants could beat the browns...they are the best of the 3 you mentioned...toss up there...i am afraid miami is going to sneak in at the end....they beat better teams than we did and are playing great......its going to be a nail biter...

After 9 weeks, the Browns are 5-3, in a four-way tie for two of the Wild Card spots, and currently seeded #8, the top 7 make it.

image.png

This week the Browns host the 2-6 Texans and are 3-point Favorites

This Week's Games With Implications:

1. Indy @ Tennessee. Well, since both teams can't lose, the best thing is for the Titans to keep heading for the divison title and to knock the Colts back a peg in the Wild Card race. GO TITS.

2. Denver @ Las Vegas. The Raiders hold the head-to-head over us, so anytime they can lose is good. GO BRONCOS.

3. Miami @ LA Chargers. We need the hard-luck Chargers to stop that Miami momentum. GO CHARGERS

4. Baltimore @ New England. Browns are just a game back of the Ravens and have them on the schedule again. GO PATRIOTS

5. Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh. A boy can dream. GO BUNGLES!

6. Arizona @ Buffalo. Too early to assume Bills will be seeded higher than us. GO CARDINALS!

Colts upend Titans, leaving both of them in the 6-3 logjam.

The Patsies upset the Ravens!

And Arizona knocks off Buffalo in a wild finish.

But the rest of the contenders won, so let's see where that leaves us...

This week the Browns host the 3-5-1 Philadelphia Eagles and are 3.5 favorite to win.

This week's games with implications:

1. Tennessee at Baltimore. The Browns are currently sandwiched between these two 6-3 teams, so pick your poison ... I'll go for the Rats to lose! Go Tits!

2. Kansas City at Vegas. The hope here is for the Chiefs to keep rolling toward the division title while knocking the Raiders behind us in the Wild Card chase. Go Chiefs!

3. Green Bay at Indianapolis. Packers can do us a favor ... Go Packers!

4. Miami at Denver. Need a Broncs upset. Go Broncos!

5. Pittsburgh at Jacksonville. Seriously though, when do the Steelers hit the hard part of their schedule? Go Jags!

I have an issue with how they favor the Dolphins over the Browns. They say that the division tie breaker that the Ravens enjoy over the Browns counts to also eliminate them vis a vis the Fins. WTF is up with that?

All divisional tie breakers are applied first. So the first thing they do is rank the Ravens over the Browns, then apply the remaining tiebreakers.

Seems like BS especially now that they are having 3 or 4 wild cards. They should apply head to head or better conference records

It actually makes sense to me, because if Baltimore finishes 2nd and we finish 3rd, we shouldn't be able to leap over them in the Wild Card positions.

Can't get on board with that Zombo. Elway ruined our 80s, and Karlis Missed.

Anyway, this is exciting. A playoff run!!!

The past 10-12 years it's all been draft talk around here at this point in the season.

Head-to-head (if applicable) is the first tiebreaker in all 2-team scenarios and is first or second in 3 or more team scenarios.

Plus as soon as enough teams are eliminated by succeeding steps that only two are left, the final tiebreak reverts to the 2-team tiebreaker steps where... ta-da... head-to-head is first.

Clear as mud?

If there is a multi team tie because team A beats team B I don’t see why team C should also have an advantage over team B. If team C has beaten team B OK or if team C has a better conference record and team B I can see that. Or if team C has a better record in common games sure. But team C shouldn’t piggyback on what team A did.
