He discovered the first "retrovirus"... but don't ask me what that is.... and was a major character in the HBO moive, And the band played on. The movie was about the HIV outbreak and the CDC's pursuit of it. Let's just say Gallo (played by Alan Alda) wasn't all that helpful... but sonofabeetch if Alda doesn't look like Gallo.. Anyway... Tonite Gallo kinda scooped a Dr. 2makov (sp?), FDA Virologist (no relation), about a study that may have shown that we have a non-Covid-19 specific viral vaccine sitting on a shelf that may be effective in Covid-19 immunization... at least that was Gallo's inference. Gallo expected the report to come out "soon". Well... I guess it will now... We'd heard that testing of viral vaccines we had around was going on, but I know I did not expect any word this fast.
