Tour2ma
Baker's gone "from being body-shamed on social media in January when he was photographed in a swimsuit in Antigua"... to "posting shirtless photos of himself working out in his garage during this shelter-in-place order." https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2020/03/baker-mayfield-killing-his-garage-workouts-trying-to-keep-my-sanity-during-this-quarantine-period.html
tiamat63
Keep in mind, friends, it's not JUST about weight. Body composition and overall health is a big deal. You are what you eat, and your brain as well responds accordingly. Take a cognitive function test from a normal 25 year old, then take one from a 25 year old alcoholic. The differences will be night and day. healthier body = better mind. And you know what part the QB relies most on.

Icecube
Wow, that Jan. pic is so bad. Maybe this is a sign Bakes is more serious about conditioning and that's a manifestation of taking his overall performance more serious all the way around. I don't think having Mr. Freddie, with his beach ball belly vibe abound, as the head coach favorable in creating team and personal discipline. He rolled around in that ridiculous giant orange hoodie like he was so proud to be so overweight. This is very good news for the team that Bakes decided to get in better shape. More like a big slurpee. I just want to see the new and improved Mayfield v2.0 even better than his rookie debut...... whenever they play football again. Unsympathetic
I don't think it's too much to ask to just look like a professional athlete this coming season. Last season his torso resembled a melted Yankee candle.

Joe Montana was no body builder if fact he wasn't much to look at at ND. Besides the other guys are running backs who take a beating or play defense and their job is to hit people. As long as Baker "doughboy" Mayfield can hand the ball off and throw it a long way that's ok......the ball isn't that heavy.
The Gipper
Remember Sonny Jurgenson's gut? He still made the Hall of Fame with it:
The Gipper
Jameis's gut didn't prevent him from throwing for over 5000 yards and 30+ TDs. It also didn't cause him to throw 30 Ints. Unless his gut got between his ears and in front of his eyes.
Tour2ma
Fitness did not exactly rule Sonny's era... .... and Jameis' lack of fitness certainly did not help his performance.

Sometimes numbers can be misleading, how many yards and TDs we're in garbage time in that 7-9 season ? Do the new gentle hitting rules help a lot of so-so quarterbacks ? Could he have done better at his rookie weight of 231 ? Hmmmm.
