Been favoring Wills over Thomas, but I like OTs whose wingspan comes disproportionately from arm length vs. chest width... and that says Thomas is the guy. I can't wait to see them move.

Jones' measurements are a bit of a concern as well.

On the plus side there's UConn's Matt Peart. I've been looking at him as a prospective, developmental, Day-3 OT... think I'll look a little harder.

I've only watched 3 games but this would explain some of Andrew Thomas' success.  Kid doesn't have the smoothest feet or the best kick step, but he has a good wingspan with heavy hands that he uses to generate contact to slow down rushers.     Meanwhile my sleeper, Jack Driscoll, checking in about where I expected.

With 33" arms Driscoll looks OG bound to me. Wirfs' 34" arms are borderline.

Have you looked at UConn's Peart?

my only thought is, how many linemen will Becton still beat in his 40 time? that kid is a raw freak

Not many, gum... DraftScout always seems to have good insight into 40 times and they have Becton as the slowest of their page 1 prospects...

http://www.draftscout.com/players.php?GenPos=OT&DraftYear=2020&sortorder=TSXPos&order=ASC

Bigger question is how his 10-yd split, his vert and his standing broad will stack up?

Not yet.  Driscoll's footwork is what drew me im, but at gaurd....?  Meh.  I don't think he has the ability to move bodies on the interior.

Will give Peart a good look this weekend.

Meanwhile inside...

I've been enamored with LSU's Cushenberry, and rightly so as the kid is plug'n'play at two positions, but been looking for IOL alternatives... and there are at least 4.

  • Jonah Jackson (tOSU) - upped his passpro this season; pretty balanced run/pass OG now.
  • Shane Lemieux (Oregon) - best ZBS OG I've looked at this class.
  • Cesar Ruiz (tsun) - seems to be rising and based on accounts I've read I need to get my eyes on him.
  • Netane Muti (Fresno St.) - see below...

Muti is in a word "scary". First, he is scary good. When on the field he's dominant. PFF has him as their #1 IOL prospect. Second, he is a scary pick because he's missed a lot of time... primarily due to leg injuries. Med staff needs to go over him twice... and then he'd still have to fall to me to tab him... but if he stays healthy? Lordy, Lordy...

Odds aren't good vs draftscout..they got Becton coming in at 355bs, but the scale says 364lbs👀,, ok Orlando Brown came in at 6'7" 345lbs. & ran a 5.83 with a 1.98 split...Becton will beat Zuess Brown & any hammy pulls in the field

Ideally we'll be wanting OT's to be able to get outside and block.  Speed, quickness & footwork.

Our OL is in such a need of overhaul that we may have to use all avenues this offseason.  FA, Draft AND Trade.

Fist we'll see if we can chip away at it in free agency.

Not a lot of UConn tape out there. Here's good test vs. UCF.

Thanks for sharing this!   The last time we picked a LT named Thomas he went to 10 consecutive Pro Bowls for us.  During his rookie year (2007), he played next to a very productive veteran LG Eric Steinbach and we went 10-6.

Hmmm...Rookie Thomas next to veteran LG Bitonio? Interesting. Could history repeat itself?

Only 3* TE's hit the Gil Brandt magic upper body strength number on the bench of 22 reps...Cinn. TE Josiah Deguara pushed bar 25 times..Vandy's- Jared Pinkney & Washington's- Bryant Hunter 23 times...

Just coming up short was Purdue's- Brycen Hopkins 21..and Dayton's Adam Trautman with 18 reps...

ND-Kmet, LSU's- Moss & Sullivan & Missouri-Okwuegbunam decided not to throw bar, up or down...

But Yanda only did 23 reps at his Pro Day... :)

Netane is a beast... and brings C/OG versatility to the party.... on top of his great name: Netane Muti.

Super Bowl 2020: NFL Draft prospects who resemble star players that helped Chiefs and 49ers reach Super Bowl

by Chris Trapasso @ChrisTrapasso Jan 30, 2020 at 10:03 am ET • 11 min read

Eric Fisher - Comparison: Matt Peart, UConn

Get to know this name. And no, Peart won't go in the first round like former No. 1 overall pick Fisher did. Heck, it would actually be a surprise if he made his way to the second day of the draft.

But at nearly 6-foot-7 and 310 pounds with vines for arms and borderline elite athleticism for the tackle position that allows him to mirror like a veteran, Peart has the on-field ingredients to become Fisher 2.0 at the next level. When Fisher entered the league out of Central Michigan in 2013 and rocketed up boards all the way to the top of the draft, everyone agreed he had franchise tackle athletic traits but needed to beef up and get stronger. That's precisely how I view Peart right now.

Jimmy Garoppolo - Comparison: Anthony Gordon, Washington State

As a Washington State quarterback, you probably know what type Gordon is. He's a passer who gets it out quickly, mostly on underneath throws, and thanks to the variety of options at his disposal on every play, is pretty deft getting through his reads. But he doesn't have a huge arm and, from time to time (see: too often) writes checks with his brain that his arm can't cash. He's a quick-decision based quarterback. And does every quick decision you make in life turn out to be a good one? Exactly. The same goes for Gordon.

Garoppolo has become a better processor during his NFL career, but, he too hailed from a spread offense in college -- Eastern Illinois -- and was a quick-passing point guard before going to the New England Patriots. Don't be offended by this comparison, Jimmy G fans, but Gordon most resembles your guy in this draft class.

Kid posted a 5.10...

Wirfs led the way with a 4.85. Wills 5.05.

Thomas posted a 7.58 3-cone. Wirfs 7.65.

Wirfs name pops up among the leaders for a lot of the drills.
