By the time Super Bowl 55 comes around, we should have legalized sports gambling in Ohio,  shouldn't we?

Who knows with these petty fights.

Meanwhile every other state around Ohio like Pennsylvania are already into the sportsbooks.

First I thought legalized sportsbooks allowed in every state could be a BAD idea with unintended consequences like more widespread problem gambling and possible risks of players getting paid to influence games like never before..... we'll see.

BUT since it's the law now your state should get their act together or miss out on a huge amount of tax revenues.  Even traditional conservative states will have to get onboard..... eventually.  Wake up Ohio.

For more on the big stall see the link...

That link provided NO information on why it is stalled whatsoever, nor on what may  be happening soon.

What we have is pile of feckless fucking legislatures more worried about who gets the money than about the status of the law:

The big difference between the two bills likely would matter little to the people placing bets.

So far this is a fairly evenly bet Superbowl with the bettors pressing the OVER.  It might be a record for total amounts bet.

Super Bowl 54 Prop Resources | Super Bowl 54 Betting Update

Super Bowl 54 Total (O/U) Analysis

We are still quite a ways out from the big game, but all this prep time before the Super Bowl is great for bettors like myself who love to dig deep into the data, historical and otherwise, to see if any lightly discussed edges arise.

With this year's total already getting bumped up quite a bit initially, you will see many arguments for both sides of the full game total in the coming days. But there are other ways to attack the total for the Super Bowl, and they include things like first quarter and first-half total plays as well. And while it can be easy to dismiss whatever happened in a Super Bowl years ago as non-relevant to this specific game, similar historical scenarios still exist and we can use them to potentially help strengthen a position.

So before we get into the historical 1st Quarter and 1st Half results for the Cheifs and Niners this specifc year, let's take a broader trip through history to see if there is anything that becomes a shiny enough data nugget to invest in.

Super Bowl 54 Over-Under (O/U) Betting Odds

The Q1 o/u only 10 points even? Doesn't that sound to easy for the over or will the defenses control things?  I've never bet a Q1 before but it sounds so easy.

Latest report as of this month:

Still under consideration by legislature

There are two warring bills with a fight over who would run a sports betting enterprise in the state.

Oregon legalized sports betting this year (no collage) and for the super bowl there are over 280 different bets you can make

My first but feel was KC  -but- the line hasn't moved a bit in two weeks so I'm going. SF, MVP Garoppolo and maybe the TEs  Kelce and Kittle.   After that I don't know.

Best sportsbooks year since 2008 ?   A lot of big SF bettors.  For more see. https://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/story.cfm/story/2001784

Vegas bookmakers capture SB54 win

Super Bowl 54 went extremely well for Nevada sportsbooks, and I believe it was at a much higher ratio of success than all our European friends in other states that have hopped the pond looking forward to dominance in the U.S. market.

The first thing I thought while getting early returns from Nevada sportsbooks after the Chiefs 31-20 win against the 49ers (+1.5, 53.5) in Super Bowl 54 was how my Euro friends may have blundered the Super Bowl of American football like last year when New Jersey lost 4.5 million.

In 2020, Nevada books rolled, and the others elsewhere; not so much.

“We got the result we wanted, “ said MGM Resorts sportsbook director Jeff Stoneback. “It was our best day since 2008.”

Stoneback quickly corrected the notion of booking the game the same way as always and the breaks just went their way this time.

“Obviously, if the game goes over and the 49ers win it’s a different story,” Stoneback said.

The success of the MGM’s Super Bowl Sunday basically came from five players betting large money, including a $1 Million wager on the 49ers money-line (+120) from Houston’s Mattress Mack

An hour before kickoff, the MGM books had a regular casino VIP wager $550,000 on the 49ers +1.5, $500,000 on 49ers first-half (EVEN), and $550,000 on over 53.5.

So none of those results happened favorably, or at least one bet pushed. They bagged $2 million from just two guys and then had the game go under (53.5) to beat out all the public parlays. Best day since 2008? Wow. ........ CONTINUED IN THE LINK .......
