SdBacker80
Anyone else think the wrong team is the favorite? I can’t see the chiefs stopping the 9er offense. But I can definitely see the 9er front making plays and forcing some punts and maybe a couple turnovers. 37-24 Type game.
The Gipper
I am going to be coming into Vegas that day afternoon from the east, staying at a place on W. Tropicana Ave. I will be just a couple of blocks from The Orleans Casino and can probably walk there from where I am staying. Is that a good one to go place my $5 bet on the game....if anyone knows. And OK mjp, at this point.... you are our gambling expert......what should I play? I will take your advice on my bet (but I won't hold you responsible if I lose)

For maybe $10 I'd play the $1 slots 10 times. Now for football, not much money to be made on the game unless you just want a souvenir bet slip: ODDS TO WIN 2019-20 SUPER BOWL LIV (2/2/20) Team Odds Kansas City Chiefs 5/6 San Francisco 49ers 1/1. <---- for $11 you can win $10 plus your $11 back. Then there's the prop (proposition) bets like which player scores first, etc. Various odds payouts. Then there's always craps or maybe a $5 or $10 roulette table, hit your lucky number win $175 or $350 on one spin -or- lose and savor the moment. Or just have fun and enjoy Vegas. Site seeing is free but remember hookers are illegal there.

And I don't really need a lesson on how to gamble my money otherwise; or how to find hookers or sight see. Saturday, I will be in another location for a week, then in Vegas...coming in that day 2/2. Which is Groundhog day. And which will also be the 39th anniversary of starting my law practice, though I am semi-retired now. It is also the date that the Nevada Territory was incorporated, which is fitting. It is also the date in which dogsleds, led by Balto reached Nome with the diptheria vaccine. It is also the date on which Frank Sinatra made his singing debut with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra It is also the date that the Germans surrender Stalingrad. It is also the date on which Bevo Francis scored 113 points for Rio Grande College of Ohio. It is also the Day the Music Died. Buddy Holly gives his last performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa before being killed in an air crash in the early morning of the following day. It is also the day that Vince Lombardi signed a contract to become the Green Bay Packers head coach. It is also the date that the Cleveland Cavaliers had their smallest crowd ever, only 1641 people. Much like you I see the 9er Defense being effective up front both shutting down any run game and pressuring Mahomes... especially up the middle. Add the speed SF has at DE and you have a flush and sack recipe. The question becomes then one of the 2ndary match-ups. Can SF check Hill, Watkins, Hardman and Kelce? SF Offense vs. KC's D? I don't see SF's OL dominating as they did the Packers' front seven, but I don't think they have to do so. "Only" 4 ypc plus change will suffice for setting up the PAP game. I look for Kittle to be a factor in the pass game. On NFL Live today Ryan Clark characterized this game as "the perfect team vs. the perfect player." A tad hyperbolic perhaps, certainly premature at minimum, but not far off.

There is no secret what the Chiefs have to do on D. 1. Load the box and get that high powered run game going East and West. 2. Account/Bracket Kittle 3. One on ones with the others- the D needs to tackle in space.

I won both of my playmoney bets this past weekend. Took SF and gave away 7 1/2 and took the over on the other game. I kind of like the fairytale ending for Mahomes to win, but realistically the better lines are with SF. Lines win FB. SF will hurry Mahomes a lot more than the Titans could. Far more speed and power combination to handle run and pass by the Def. Lynch knew what he was doing to assemble this team.

mjp28
And if you're getting bored and going through the early stages of football withdrawal you could always bet on the AFC/NFC Pro Bowl. The AFC is a 1.5 point favorite.....I think. Or you can bet on will I actually watch it or not. (I'm leaning towards not.) Oh who here is planning on watching this fine display of football prowess and talent? Oh and player compensation did you know that the winners in the pro bowl make MORE than the losers on the Superbowl? And the pro bowl winners make $37,000 more each than the losers. $74,000 versus $37,000. Would you go for that paycheck?
mjp28
And the above numbers are based on next year's 2020 pro bowl -and- I'm just too lazy to correct them so there you go. And how much could the players make in playoff money if they can run the table...... let's see. If a team has a first-round bye, qualified players will not receive payment. The authors of the book go on to give specific amounts, but they are all listed as of 2016, when the book I own was published. Below, I have kept the format presented in the book, but updated numbers of the most recent post-season. Postseason amounts increase each year, and in 2019 (following the 2018 season), players received postseason pay of: $27,000 for a wild card game ($29,000 if they were division winner entering this round), plus $29,000 for the divisional round, plus $54,000 for the conference championship, and $118,000 for winning the Super Bowl or $59,000 for losing. For last year the players could make up to $230,000 for the SB winners and $171,000 for the forgotten losers -plus- everybody gets a real nice ring. Not too bad, eh? mjp28
Wagering suggestions for the Gipper's big Las Vegas adventure First you will have to find a sportsbooks that does $5 wagers once you do that then: 1. Since this is a pretty even Superbowl matchup pick your favorite team and put $5 to win, if it were me right now it would be SF +100. 2. For a prop bet like the game MVP the odds on favorite now is Mahomes at +110 money line. Or my pick if you think SF just might win this thing go Garoppolo at +200 to double your money. (they can tell you what a $5 wager will pay) Now if you feel a bit more daring and actually go for a long shot MVP canadidates for mo' money like: T. Hill +1600 Kelce +1600. Kittle +2000 Or in the very overdue defensive player department like Bosa +5000 or Mathieu +5000 In any event you might win a little or have some losing souvenir betting tickets. Have fun! A minus number say -140 means you'd have to wager $140 to win back your money and an extra $100. Got it? While you're at it you could bet $5 bucks on the Browns winning the 2021 Super Bowl. I'm sure there's already odds on every team....

mjp28
A reminder, plus every soortsbook has instructions there. Updated Mon, Jan. 20, 2:30 PM ET - Odds Subject to Change How to Bet on NFL Futures. https://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/futures Who’s going to win the Super Bowl? One of the most popular questions often asked by anybody and everybody that bets on NFL Futures, especially online bettors from the United States. Answering that question isn’t easy but placing wagers on NFL Future odds can be done on “Any Given Sunday” and every other day too. Put simply, the Futures market for the NFL is always open. The opening market is set by oddsmakers after the following season has ended in February, sometimes even while the current season hasn’t been completed yet in late January. For the most part, the initial betting lines are mirrored based on what the current perception of the team is after the latest season and that’s where the value can be had. The NFL has 32 teams, split into two conferences of 16 and then divided into four divisions of four. NFL Futures are available to win not only the Super Bowl, but also the winner of each conference and the eight divisions as well. Some online betting shops get even more creative with their markets and allow bettors an opportunity of which two teams will meet in the Super Bowl. Those odds are usually higher and bettors can strike a generous return but predicting one outcome isn’t easy, so imagine doing so twice. Super Bowl Odds The pro football finale usually takes place on the first Sunday in February and the outcome of that game is tied into plenty of Futures Odds tickets, in particular bets placed on Super Bowl Odds. The most popular futures betting market is focused on the Super Bowl and the final outcome boosts the handle for the Super Bowl, since future tickets are made official after the last game. After the opening odds are posted in late January or early February, the Super Bowl Odds market tends to be stable until the spring or second quarter of the year. During the time, the NFL produces the NFL Draft where top College Football players are selected by teams. While it’s rare to see youngsters make an immediate impact on teams, the optimism from fans can lead to future bets. Along with the draft, the NFL Free Agency period begins and that allows players to join other teams with new contracts. These transactions are very volatile on the Super Bowl Odds market and bettors often place wagers on clubs, especially if they acquire a top position player like a quarterback. After the spring and summer, the largest volume of Super Bowl Odds tickets take place in August just prior to the regular season. At this time, most bettors have done their homework on rosters, coaches, schedules, etc. That betting research is essential in your NFL Future wagers analysis. 2020 Super Bowl Odds: Early Payouts for Chiefs vs. 49ers Spread: Kansas City Chiefs (-1) Over/Under: 53.5 Moneyline: Kansas City Chiefs: -120 and San Francisco 49ers: Even The spread odds mean the Kansas City Chiefs are the Super Bowl favorites and a bet on the spread for Kansas City will payout if the Chiefs win by more than one point. The bet is a push, or a tie, if the Kansas City Chiefs only win by one point. For the over/under, the combined points scored by both teams will need to be 54 for an over bet to payout. For the moneyline, you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Kansas City, while a bet of $100 will payout $100 on San Francisco. How do I bet on the Super Bowl? We know that you can bet on the Super Bowl and all of NFL Futures at any time of the year, but what’s the process. The future wager or the “Odds to Win” bet on the Super Bowl is correctly selecting a team to win an event that takes place at a later time. A bettor will have his wagered money tied up until there is an outcome and bettors will receive fixed odds when they place the wager. In the case of the Super Bowl, you’re not a winner or loser until you see zeros on the clock in the final game. Most sportsbooks offer different ways to read to Super Bowl Odds. In the fractional NFL Futures Odds format below, you simply take the odds and multiply by the amount wagered. Ex. Green Bay (8/1) to win the Super Bowl The Packers are listed as an 8/1 betting choice to win the Super Bowl. If you wager $100 on Green Bay to win the NFC and they capture the championship, then you would win $800 (8 ÷ 1 x 100). Your online betting account would then credit your account $900, which includes your win and stake ($100). The American Format would see Green Bay listed at +800 and for the Decimal Format, the Packers would be 9.00.
