Great idea, that always works!

😬

WSS

lol. Except, if the right guy isn't available, why just add a guy who ends up not working out? The

Browns have been burnt by this. Get the right OC, even if you have to wait to get him.

GM interviews start on 1-17-20..

#1.Philly's Andrew Berry & #2) Patriots Monti Ossenfort interviewed on a Friday..(neither hired as of 1-19-20)

#3.George Paton (Asst.GM Vikings) interviewed in Minnesota Sunday 1-19-20// a 2nd 9 hour interview in Cleveland Wednesday 1-22-20

Berry a day before interview announces he is also a candidate for Panthers GM job.

COACHING STAFF HIRES

#1) Chad O'Shea.. Former Dolphins OC becomes Browns WR Coach on 1-19-20

1-22-20 Stefanski announces he will retain 3 coaches from previous staff

#2) Mike Priefer ST #3) ST Asst.-Doug Colman

#4) RB's- Stump Mitchell

Coaches all strike me as no-brainers, so it's good Stef is getting those right. Best "get" to date, if indeed he is "gotten" in principle, has to be Callahan.

https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports/nfl/browns/damien-woody-bill-callahan-might-be-best-hire-cleveland-browns-have-made-this-offseason/95-174ca0b1-fe08-4be4-bf1e-dd1b1127d804

GM search? Top two seem to be balking... Berry leery of Haslam and Paton leery of Depo reporting to Haslam.

Agree. This feels like a "Kubiak ain't coming" alternative. Plus in an age of Pass/run game coordinators it feels like the OC is optional when you have a playcalling HC.

I was very disappointed when Kubiac took the Viks OC job instead of coming to the Browns.

That might tell you a lot right there.

Good OC and DC at the P5 college schools can make $500k to $1M+.  Good NFL ones over $1M+ and starting HC around $5M+. (it's hard to get exact numbers on them).

For most in the coaching profession the NFL job is the final stop, the dream job.  In Cleveland it's become a revolving door.

Kubiac is already a proven coach to the Viks ownership and with our idiot, that means nothing. Job security on the level that Kubiac wants to coach. He could easily have become someone's HC, but he's been there and did not really like it. Too stressful.

So?  WTF is going on?   Paton has been in twice for interviews.  Berry has been in.   Monti WTFever has been in, it seems like weeks ago.

Are the Browns waiting on another name to surface?   If so, Who?

Are they considering someone who is still working with the 2 SuperBowl teams?

Are they just taking 3 days to work out contract terms?

Does anyone have a clue?  As it certainly seems like the Browns do not.   (but I guess that would be typical Haslam)

Is Depo on vacation and are they waiting for him to come back?

Kubiac's real job protecting the big asset in town.

From twincities.com.   https://www.twincities.com/2020/01/23/report-vikings-hire-veteran-coach-gary-kubiak-as-offensive-coordinator

......As much as Cook took his game to the next level in the zone scheme, no doubt the top priority for Kubiak now that he’s the man in charge will be continuing to get the most out of quarterback Kirk Cousins, who will be entering the final year of his fully guaranteed three-year, $84 million contract.....

Kirk Cousins a FULLY GUARANTEED $84,000,000 contract?  Really?  Oh yeah I hope Gary Kubiac is well compensated for his work.

Just 1% of the $84M would be $840,000 mind blowing at times.

Every HC or OC's main job is to get the most out of their starting QB.   Nothing new or enlightening about that.

Um, Cousins' contract is puny compared to the fully guaranteed money top MLB players are currently hauling in.....

Radio is saying that Paton is pulling out of consideration for the GM job.

Apparently there were issues about the "Power structure"   and the division of labor  that he was not comfortable with.

https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2020/01/george-paton-takes-himself-out-of-running-for-browns-gm-source-says-andrew-berry-the-leading-candidate.html

So, I have no clue what this means.  Speculation:

A. He knew that working for Jimmy would just be a FUBAR situation all around, because JH wants to be a control freak....or  Paton knew that trying to work with him would be chaotic.

B. He knew that the Browns had their hearts set on Andrew Berry.

C. He was being told that  Elliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith were going to have certain jobs....and he didn't like being dictated to.

Whatever it is, it is the Haslams being  being fucked up bosses with no clue.

Sound about right?

MLB top contracts are insane to play beisbol.  It started with that crazy deal with ARod which has been surpassed now.

I've checked both sides & I've found a Name that may match Stef...Daniel Ricci...Ricci worked in the Vikings Public relations dept. when Stef was with the Vikings..Ricci has been the Player Personal asst. in KC for the past 3 years..Would Haslam trust another Chief?  2 others at KC..Chris Shea-Hofstra law or Ryan Poles- Boston College

49'ers== VP to GM Keena Turner ain't leaving...Leaves only 2 asst GM's 1) Martin Mayhew has a Georgetown law degree & done work for Giants & Lions 2) Adam Peters- did tons of work with Broncos from 2009-16

If anybody, I'd keep a ear out for Stef trying to get Daniel Ricci from KC to Haslams house of horrors.. Yep all speculation...but hey.. at least am dumpster diving

  it's what Jimmy do

In Browns Coaching Staff hiring news.. Former Vikings Off.Asst/Asst.WR/QB Coach/ than WR Coach.. Drew Petzing is said to be hired as next Browns TE Coach

Take him aside put your arm around him and whisper in his ear "Dude did you forget the Jimmy Haslam owns the Browns?"

That might work.

WS

...and if it doesn't, why would we want anyone stupid enough to come and work for Jimmuh after being warned?

That would be the most Brownsish thing to happen... and then have to scramble way after the fact to come up with a DCoordinator.
