It was a good week for the underdogs going into MNF.

The underdogs were barking loud in Sunday’s Week 13 NFL action with eight of the 12 'dogs covering and seven of them winning outright which helped Nevada sportsbooks to another good day.

Of course, the fate of day ended up coming down to the final game to be posted, the Sunday night game with New England (-3 -120) at Houston.

“We give back most of the win on the day if the Patriots cover,” said MGM Resorts sportsbook director Jeff Stoneback.

The Texans would win 28-22 and a late scoring surge by the Patriots helped the game go over the total, which opened at 44.5 and closed at 47. The final score really isn’t as indicative of how poorly the Patriots executed on offense.

Quarterback Tom Brady was not happy, and now the Patriots (10-2) drop to the No. 2 seed in the AFC with the Ravens (10-2) taking over No. 1 after they beat the 49ers (10-2) in Baltimore, 20-17. The possible Super Bowl preview featuring the two highest-scoring teams in the NFL had rain and wind slowing both their offenses down. The 49ers (+5.5) cover makes them 7-4-1 against the spread (ATS) this season.

“Our best game of the day was the Niners covering and the worst was the Packers,” said Wynn sportsbook director Doug Castaneda.

The sportsbooks were dreading two teams coming into the weekend -- the Patriots and Packers. They were the two games that has the most lopsided ticket counts and cash that could thump the books together with two-team parlay payouts at 13-to-5 odds (Bet $100 to win $260), but more so as being a root two-teamer attached to several other legs in parlays.

“There are twice as many bets on the Packers than there are on any other team today,” Jeff Davis said before the morning games starte

A Manning to start again?

Eli Manning's time on the bench might be over soon.

The Giants are preparing to start Manning in Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to coach Pat Shurmur, who told reporters Wednesday it will "very likely" be the veteran lining up under center.

Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones is in a walking boot with a "moderate high ankle sprain," per Shurmur, and was riding a stationary bike during Giants practice. If the Giants had to play Wednesday, Jones would not be able to play, Shurmur added.

Jones officially took over as the team's starter in Week 3, a 32-21 win over Tampa Bay. He's completed 228 of his 370 attempts for 2,374 yards, 18 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, but the Giants haven't won a game since September. With their playoff hopes long dashed, New York couldn't be faulted if it wanted to take things slow .......

FRIDAY - And for those of you who watch the trends CLEVELAND opened a 10.5 favorite vs Cincinnati now only a 7 point favorite.

Baltimore opened a 7 point favorite now 6 points at Buffalo.... might be an interesting road game for the birds.

And Pittsburgh was a 1.5 point underdog last week then opened a pick this week now  2.5 point favorite at woeful Arizona.  So there you go......

I’m really worried about this game on Sunday.  As soon as we get ready to play them, they’re playing their best football.  It’ll won’t be good to play them and give them their 2nd win.

I mentioned elsewhere John Ross was activated off of IR, and is expected to play against the Browns. He's not even listed on the injury report.
