But realistically with the huge amount of key injuries they are lucky to have even a shot at it. Francona's best managerial job yet?

If you told me that we lose most of our starting pitching plus several other key players and that were still in it come September........ I’d probably ask for some of what you’re taking... lol. Francona deserves manager of the year Hand...s down

mjp28
And down the stretch they come! Will Minnesota win 100 games? Will the INDIANS pass the Rays? Could the INDIANS host a wild card game? Who will be the INDIANS starting pitcher if they make it? Stay tuned for more details.

I am no fan of inter league play and finishing up with pitchers batting just doesn’t seem right. And just maybe the Tribe could give the Browns some tips on winning on Sundays. They got it down
mjp28
With Oakland losing two games in a row and the INDIANS having two more games against the WSOX the AL wild card race has really tightened up. Minnesota can keep winning to keep Cleveland at Bay but this might be a very close race for both wc spots right to the end of the season. Looking like a decent possibility of that

Looking like a decent possibility of that It's pretty straight forward unless there are three or hopefully never four teams. How to determine playoff tiebreakers MLB.com Sep. 2nd, 2014 If one game is needed to break a tie for a playoff berth between two teams, it will be played on the Monday after the scheduled end to the regular season, hosted by the team that won the season series against the other. That applies to determining a division championship whether or not the losing team would still qualify as a Wild Card. Home-field advantage is determined first by head-to-head records, then by the higher winning percentage in intradivision games. If a further tiebreaker is needed, it's the best winning percentage in the last half of intraleague games. Determining Home-Field Advantage in Two-Team Tiebreakers 1. Head-to-head winning percentage during the regular season. 2. Higher winning percentage in intradivision games. 3. Higher winning percentage in intraleague games. 4. Higher winning percentage in the last half of intraleague games. 5. Higher winning percentage in the last half plus one intraleague game, provided that such additional game was not between the two tied clubs. Continue to go back one intraleague game at a time until the tie has been broken. Determining A, B, C Designations in Three-Team Tiebreakers 1. All Three Clubs Have Identical Records Against One Another • Club with highest winning percentage among three tied clubs in intradivision games chooses its designation, followed by the team with the next highest winning percentage in intradivision games. If any two of the clubs have identical winning percentages, then then the two-Club tiebreak rules will break that tie. If all three Clubs have identical winning percentages, then; • Club with the highest winning percentage in the last half of intraleague games chooses its designation, followed by the team with the next highest winning percentage in intraleague games. If any two of the clubs have identical winning percentages, then then the two-Club tiebreak rules will break that tie. If all three Clubs have identical winning percentages, then; • Club with the highest winning percentage in the last half plus one intraleague game, provided that such additional game was not between any of the tied Clubs, chooses its designation, followed by the team with the next highest winning percentage in the last half plus one intraleague game. Continue to go back one intraleague game at a time until the tie has been broken. 2. Three Clubs Do Not Have Identical Records Against One Another........see the link, it is very long. https://www.mlb.com/news/playoff-tiebreaker-rules/c-59527184

mjp28
Well with 4 games left even if Cleveland can win all four they will need a little help to secure a wc spot or force a tie. GOOD NEWS - Washington who the Tribe plays next has secured a wc spot and can NOT pass ATL so they have nothing more really to play except possibly home field but that might change some going forward. Wait and see the last few games might be empty the bench time. SO the INDIANS 1.5 GB must keep winning one at the wsx and then three at in Washington. GO TRIBE, no turning back now. It's pretty simple now 2 GB with 3 games with Washington left you must win at least 2 or better yet 3 and hope for others lose to get a spot or a tie for a spot. flyingfooldoug
Oh well, put a fork in them. Been one helluva season though. With losing so many key players and pitchers and the fact that they were in it until the end..... just wow wow wow! Now for the Browns to kick it up a gear.
