From then on I decided to take my chances behind sandbags in a hootch. No more pits where creepy crawly things can go to live. Ironically a few days ago I got stung by one of our local 2" brown scorpions on the torso when he crawled up inside my T-shirt. Just checked webMD and used soap and water followed by ice pack on and off every 10 min. for 2 hours and two Benadryl. The ice made the stinging stop by numbing everything pretty quickly. I really did not like John McCain as a politician. As a human being I questioned his pettiness when he went after Sarah Palin and did not even want her to attend his funeral when she always remained loyal to McCain and even to this day will not say anything negative about him. Apparently he was ashamed of her conservative beliefs and he was talked into putting her on his presidential ticket as VP for political strategy reasons while he really wanted democrat Joe Lieberman instead. He was delusional believing if only he had picked Lieberman he would have won in 08. All the problems I had with McCain had nothing to do with his military service and he deserves to be honored for his sacrifice to our nation and for spending 5 years as a POW in North Vietnam. Trump who could have served in the military (I agree the bone spurs were likely just something a person of means could use to keep out of the draft) had no business in attacking McCain's military service. While Trump was living a good life in New York McCain was being held under terrible conditions as a POW. They reinforced that notion the first day in Infantry Officers Basic so we would get it through our heads the war games we were learning there in school from real Vietnam vets would some day save our lives if we paid attention to their hard earned wisdom. They were right. And Trump did not earn the right to say he preferred soldiers who weren't captured in reference to John McCain, as if he had any choice after being shot down in N. Vietnam.
