The barrier to entry should be your work ethic and ability to learn, not your income. Even if there is government funding for college that doesn't all of a sudden make engineering degrees worthless. You still need the ability to earn one. Plus, you still have the distinguishing factor of WHERE you got the degree. You still need to get in to MIT and you still need to make it through their program. Government aid doesn't devalue an MIT degree. You don't need a college degree for respectable employment. But in the world where everything has to be fair why shouldn't everybody get a degree from MIT? You don't need a college degree for respectable employment. But it makes it much more likely and has become much more needed in the last number of decades. because, artificially or not, it sets college graduates slightly ahead of high school graduates. And now only a moron fails to get at least that. Like I said because at this time the guy with the college degree had to do something to earn it. Exactly. I'm familiar with those programs having some relatives enrolled.
