The Gipper
Since we have been having discussion about Heaven and Hell....lets see if you can guess where some NFL teams/coaches etc. fall in terms of reaching Heaven or Hell. 1. Since WWII 5 teams have gone winless in an NFL season. Name these 5 teams. 2. Prior to the Browns "inactive period" what was the worst record the Browns ever suffered (with the understanding that they have had several worse seasons since 1999)? 3. What 2 Head coaches have the worst all time record in history? 4. Name the only teams in Pro football history that went undefeated and untied...including playoffs. 5. Which 3 head coaches have the all time best winning percentages in their careers? 6. Name the 2 Head coaches that have lost the most playoff games without ever having won one. 7. Four (4) active head coaches have won 10 or more playoff games. Name them. 8. What active head coach has the best postseason won loss percentage? 9. What team has the best all time W-L percentage including both regular and postseason? 10. What team has the worst all time W-L percentage including both regular and postseason? Bonus: Two teams are in NFL "Purgatory" in that in their entire histories including regular and postseason....they are each only one game off from being .500. Name these two teams: hint: they do not include any of the post mid 1990s expansion teams.

The Gipper
Since we have been having discussion about Heaven and Hell....lets see if you can guess where some NFL teams/coaches etc. fall in terms of reaching Heaven or Hell. Here you go, maybe you all will learn something. Answers 1. Since WWII 5 teams have gone winless in an NFL season. Name these 5 teams. 2017 Cleveland Browns 0-16, 2008 Detroit Lions 0-16, 1976 Tampa Bay Bucs 0-14, 1982 Colts 0-8-1, 1960 Cowboys 0-11-1 ( their first season, but see the answer to #9( 2. Prior to the Browns "inactive period" what was the worst record the Browns ever suffered (with the understanding that they have had several worse seasons since 1999)? 3-13 in 1990 starting under Bud Carson 3. What 2 Head coaches have the worst all time record in history? Bert Bell 10-46-2 (see further explanation in follow up post) Hue Jackson 11-44-1 4. Name the only teams in Pro football history that went undefeated and untied...including playoffs. The 1948 Cleveland Browns, and the 1972 Miami Dolphins 5. Which 3 head coaches have the all time best winning percentages in their careers? Guy Chamberlain .759 win pct. (mainly with Canton/Cleveland Bulldogs). Vince Lombardi .740, John Madden .731 (note, Paul Brown was .709....just during his NFL Browns years (not including AAFC)....his overall coaching pct. went down with some losing years with the Bengals. 6. Name the 2 Head coaches that have lost the most playoff games without ever having won one. Marvin Lewis 0-7 Jim Mora 0-6 7. Four (4) active head coaches have won 10 or more playoff games. Name them. Belichick 31 wins, Andy Reid 12, John Harbaugh 10, Pete Carroll 10 8. What active head coach has the best postseason won loss percentage? Doug Pederson .800 4-1 9. What team has the best all time W-L percentage including both regular and postseason? Dallas Cowboys .572 pct. 2d is Pats .566 10. What team has the worst all time W-L percentage including both regular and postseason? Tampa Bay Buccaneers .386 next are the Cardinals (3 cities) .416 Bonus: Two teams are in NFL "Purgatory" in that in their entire histories including regular and postseason....they are each only one game off from being .500. Name these two teams: hint: they do not include any of the post mid 1990s expansion teams. The Los Angeles Rams are 589-588-21 in their long history. The Los Angeles Chargers are 459-460-11 in their history. So this is what LA gets ....a couple of perfectly mediocre teams.
The Gipper
Bert Bell is not only the losingest coach in NFL history....he was a fucking loser in other aspects of his life. He was also the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles....AND.....at the very same time, he was the Commissioner of the NFL. Recall that it was Bell as Commish and owner of the Eagles who proclaimed that after the merger of the 3 teams from the AAFC into the NFL that his team would wipe the floor with the Cleveland Browns. Of course, we know that the opposite happened. In the Browns first game in the NFL they played the Eagles who had been the defending NFL champions (fortunately for them they had a different coach by this time). Browns 35-10. Browns go to win the NFL Championship in their first year in the league. ...and 5th in a row. Bell, out of bitterness, resentment, and jealousy then declares that none of the records from the AAFC will be included with the NFL records, claiming something lame like "we can't verify that we have all of the original stat sheets from all AAFC games". It was a pile of horseshit of course and just a way to attempt to delegitimize the Browns stellar accomplishments merely because the Browns had wiped his team asses when they played. The Gipper
4 hours ago, nickers said: the losingest coaches are Hue Jackson and Frank Kush... Perhaps I should have qualified this.....worst record with at least having coached 40 games: From NBC Sports: If you are what your record says you are, Hue Jackson is the second-worst coach in NFL history. The Browns’ loss today drops Jackson to 11-44-1 as an NFL head coach: 8-8 in Oakland and 3-36-1 in Cleveland. That’s a winning percentage of .205. How bad is that? There have been 219 coaches in NFL history who coached at least 40 games in their career. Jackson ranks 218th in career winning percentage. The only coach who was worse was Bert Bell, who led the Eagles to a record of 10-46-2 (.179) from 1936 to 1941. And Bell couldn’t be fired because he was also the owner of the Eagles. Kush was 11-28-1 as an NFL HC. He had exactly 40 games. Lots of people have had worse: He was at .288 Bill Peterson 1-18 Rod Rust 1-15 David Shula 1952 .268 Gus Bradley...recently HC of the Jags: 19-52 .268 Dick LeBeau...as a HC was only at .267 win pct. Marty Morningwheg: .156 Steve Spagnuolo .212 etc.
