Agree with your take, but I did not see Ward's tackling as "incorrect"... unless Gregg was promoting rugby style (head behind).

Ward's "head in front" is the classic method, but does put la cabasa in harms way...

Agree that Joe is a more than competent MLB, but he's not the tone-setting, impact guy that great D's feature. That's why I was so focused on picking White when we still had our 1st-rounder. Nor does Kirk fill that bill...

We can make due with Joe inside again, but if someone is added, or  someone we already have emerges, then Joe can slide outside where he played his college ball.

Who is "PBE"???

Ya, I keep expecting to hear that Orson Charles is coming back. The offense was effective with him in that role last year.

Dunno.  But I know that Gregg said it more than once about Ward.

...I agree....who is PBE?  Professional Bowlers of some sort? :)

You only used 2 words in Spanish and you made a mistake: la cabeza.

Last warning.

(I bet I would injure myself if I tried to tackle somebody)

You should also worry about correcting others' spanish...

Under the premise that if too many things are important, then nothing is...

I still have to go with LB as our major need, but will concede that Dorsey is doing all he can to raise SS to the same level.

But now hasn’t he taking care of that issue

Well... he added Murray... who I don't think is as good as Kindred.

I agree.  I think it was a bad move to move on from him.

Somebody posted that Murray was like rated in the 50s among safeties...where Kindred was rated in the 90s...by PFF or PFT or one of those sites.

You don't put any credibility there?  (though I did ask just that question:  are we or are we not getting better than we gave up?)

PFF... and in the absence of personal observation, I do put stock in PFF's views. Even when I have my own takes I find I agree with PFF much of the time. This is simply an instance where I do not. In part I think Kindred's less playing time was a big factor in PFF's lower rating for him.

In the classic SS role I see Kindred as the better prospect... as more in the TJ Ward mold of a hitter who can cover. Murray? Better coverage guy to be sure, but will rock no one.

Right now I do not see a "tone-setter" in our back 7... and that concerns me. I thought and still think that Kindred had a shot at being that guy.

I respectfully disagree. ILB is still the most glaring need on this team. Fix that and let the good times roll. Don't fix it and we will still be vulnerable to the hard runners. First test will be Henry now that they know he wears down the middle of most defenses by the 2nd half.

Not a Schoebert fan? We just drafted an inside linebacker and we have Ray Ray as depth too.

Not sure how it all pans out, but the guys in bold are our top linebackers.

No I am not a fan of his as ILB. Maybe the line we now put together in front of him will protect him better, but he just is not a great ILB IMO.

EDIT: And I am completely underwhelmed by the big reach in rd 3.

How do you figure that we are going to improve at ILB at this point...with just  4th to 7th round picks to go?  Do you have a hidden gem in mind that is left on the board?  Or do you want/expect a trade of some sort?  (I am going to assume there are no FA LBs out there that would help...again...unless you know otherwise.)

Updated after the draft. Will sprinkle in a few udfas later after I've had a chance to read about them.

Hit every need I had listed in the draft ... what a squad!

Updated 4/28/19

QB B.Mayfield, D.Stanton, G. Gilbert

FB/H-B O. Charles

RB  N. Chubb, D. Johnson,  D.Hilliard (Hunt Susp.)

WR2 J. Landry, R. Higgins, D .Ratley, J.Strong

TE D. Njoku, D. Harris, S. Devalve, P. Brown

LT G. Robinson, D. Harrison

LG J. Bitonio D. Forbes

C J.Tretter K. Kalis

RG  A.Corbett, E. Kush B. Witzmann

RT C. Hubbard, K. Lamm B. Seaton

DE M. Garrett, C. Smith, C. Thomas

DT  Ogunjobi, C. Davis, D. Lawrence

DT  S. Richardson,T Coley, B. Price

DE O. Vernon, Zettle,

MLB Schoebert, M. Wilson R. Armstrong

OLB G. Avery, A. Taylor, Hines

OLB C. Kirksey, S. Takitaki

CB D. Ward , T. Carrie, T. Thomas, J.Burris

CB  T. Mitchell, G. Williams, D. Lewis,  P. Gaines

SS  M. Burnett, E. Murray

K A. Seibert, G. Joseph

P Colquitt

LS Hughlett

KR (Hilliard)

PR (Callaway)

Further position definitions:

I have Callaway as the third wideout with Landry in slot. Eric Kush should be the backup center when the dust settles. I could see D. Lewis going to the practice squad with E. Murray being an extra dime corner and Whitehead making the team as a special teamer. I'm sure camp will bring many changes!

Updated Needs:

Linebacker, Tackle, Cornerback, Safety, Kicker, Depth Everywhere

All in all I am very happy with how much better this team starts out from where we ended up last season. Vast improvement in major areas of weakness both sides of the ball that help our offense become even more of a scoring machine and our D the ability to create many more opportunities for the offense to make those scores.

Now next year all we have to do is add the Ray Guy Award winning A&M punter who set the all time single season yards per punt at 50.98.🤗🤩😂

(That plus Garrett should clear the books completely from the Johnny Football mistake).😘

To answer my own question:   Yes....there may have been a hidden gem in rounds  4-7....that being  Mack Wilson   (who I had seen on a few draft prospect boards as a possible 2d rounder....so I never thought he would be there in round 5)
