Except, of course, it is a fair observation.

Nevertheless...what  Z says makes a lot of sense.  Pick up proven guys at those spots of need:  DT/DE.   That then opens up the draft to take the best guy you can get, regardless of position.

Which means don't be surprised if we go  WR/OT/DB.  Or if the Browns trade up for that killer LB we may still be looking for.

DT was a position of strength?

Yes, I believe many said that the DT position was a strong one this year in the draft. There are  at least 6 DTs or DT/DEs listed among the Top 25 draft prospects:

Williams of Alabama

Gary of Michigan

Oliver of Houston

Wilkins of Clemson

Lawrence of Clemson

Dremont Jones of Ohio State.

In addition  at least 4 other players are considered Top 25 edge rushers:

Bosa OSU

Sweat  Mississippi St.

Allen Kentucky

Burns  FSU

So....theoretically   10 of the Top 25 draft picks could turn out to be players on the DL.

Plus you have ILBs  Devin White and Devin Bush

So almost half of all the top picks could be Defensive front 7 players.

Plus just behind the top 25 you have guys like   Simmons of Miss. St.  Tillery of ND, and Ferguson of La. Tech...... So, half of the entire first round could be front 7 players.

Cole Beasley is signing for the Bills along with John Brown. They have  added two wide receivers in the last hour

The Bills seem perhaps to be the most active team so far in this FA period.  That is like at least  4-5 guys they have picked up, it seems.

Former Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray intends to sign a four-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter Tuesday, spelling the end of the Mark Ingram era in The Big Easy. Before the Vikings drafted running back Dalvin Cook in 2017, Murray joined the team in free agency as the expected heir-apparent to Adrian Peterson.

As noted, Mark Ingram apparently out as Kamara's running mate in N.O.

Texans add S Gipson after Mathieu exit

The Houston Texans will be signing safety Tashaun Gipson, sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini. Gipson, who was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on March 8 as part of the team's effort to create salary-cap space, started all 48 games since joining the team and had six interceptions and 16 pass breakups.

  • Texans likely add another Gipson....to their fan base.

And, in other news:

Patriots tender WR Gordon

The New England Patriots have placed an original-round tender on suspended/restricted free-agent WR Josh Gordon ($2.025 million). This counts against the team's salary cap. So if Gordon is ever reinstated by the NFL, he would be looking at a one-year, $2.025 million contract. Technically, another team could sign him to an offer sheet, and if the Patriots didn't match it, the club would receive a second-round draft pick in return because that's the round in which Gordon entered the NFL. But draft-pick compensation, and financial terms of a contract, are naturally secondary to Gordon's health and well-being at this point.

Is he just getting warmed up :)

If my eyes arent deceiving me- John is still in great shape for a guy who's 58 years old.  Looks like he's curling 180 pounds- not too shabby.

Thanks for reminding us Gipper. I forgot Josh was active for enough games to get an accrued season. LOL, but not a chance in hell any team is going to match.

Apparently for good reason.

Saw where Barr backed out of his verbal with the Jets to return to the Vikes.

CB Nelson, Steelers agree to 3-year deal

Free-agent cornerback Steven Nelson has agreed to a three-year deal worth $25.5 million with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Nelson is expected to start opposite veteran corner Joe Haden.

Was this guy already with the Steelers?  Seems so

Which one covers OBJ and which one covers Landry? Whoops, there goes Callaway racing past your safety!

The Browns offense this year is going to cause some sleepless nights to opposing D-Coordinators.

Nope... 4 years in the league... 3-year starter... all in KC.

PFF's #33 CB...

... which bests Joe's #38 rating... lol...

Seems to me that for the Steelers to have any chance vs. our offense, they will have to put on a serious rush on Baker.

Which they can do to a point.    His quick decision making and quick release will come into play here.....still....I feel Browns must do some more shoring up  of their OL.

Joe trying to cover OBJ = mismatch. And it's not a particularly great year for drafting corners either. No Patrick Petersons in April. Sorry about that Steelers.
