The Gipper
Here is a set of trivia about NFL head coaches, and NFL stadiums (note: when I say NFL...it includes AFL and AAFC history) Green means fully correct, Blue partially correct, red wholly incorrect 1. Name those NFL HCs in history who have coached in over 400 games. 3 names Don Shula, Bill Belichick, Tom Landry Check on Shula/Landry...NOT on BB 2. Name those 5 Head Coaches...who have coached since WWII....who have the 5 highest Win Loss percentages in their NFL coaching careers. Hints: A. None are the same as the names in Q#1.....and B....there may be a surprise or 2 in there. George Siefert, Tom Flores, Chuck Noll, None correct. 3. Name the 2 Head Coaches in the history of the NFL with the very worst W/L percentage. Hue Jackson, Marty Morningwheg Check on Hue...not on MM. You have to go back further for the other. 4. In the History of the NFL, only 7 HCs have won 200 games. Three of them coached the Browns and one played his career for the Browns. Name them. Belichick, Noll, Paul Brown, BB and PB check....not Noll. Note: 200 games is in reference to regular season games. Noll did not win 200 regular season games (193)....unless you include postseason...which I did not here. If you include postseason....then 9 HCs have won 200...including Noll. 5. Two teams have won Championships in their history under 4 different Head coaches. Name these two teams. Packers, Colts Check on Packers, not Colts (Colts would have 4 IF you included the Colts 1968 "NFL Championship" which they won...but then got beat in the Super Bowl III. I do not include that as a title) One more. 6. In NFL history, which state has had the most different stadiums play host to NFL games? New York NO 7. Which NFL team has played its home games in the most different Stadia? Rams NO 8. What is the only stadium that was used in the inaugural 1920 NFL season....that is still being used today by a major league sports franchise? Soldier Field NO 9. A. Lambeau Field, RFK Stadium, Meadowlands (2 teams, kind of cheating), Cleveland Municipal Stadium, War Memorial Stadium (Buffalo) Well...no on Meadowlands...for the reason that it is the answer to A...for the very reason you mention. So I am giving you that one. Also check on Cleveland Muni. (but not the others 10. Which 2 cities (tied) have had the most different stadia in that city used to host an NFL game? Atlanta, New York City Neither is correct. 11. What is the newest stadium currently being used by an NFL team? Levi Stadium, San Francisco NO. 12. Which NFL teams have new stadiums being built....or in the design stage? Raiders, Rams, Chargers these are correct in the "being built" part of the question. There are 2 others in "design" stage. In the History of the NFL, only 7 HCs have won 200 games. Three of them coached the Browns and one played his career for the Browns. Name them. Paul Brown, Marty Schottenheimer and Bill Belichick coached the Browns. Don Shula played for the Browns. The only three that had no Browns associations have been George Halas, Curly Lambeau, and Tom Landry. IF you include those who have 200 wins....including postseason, that bring the number up to 10 HCs with that number, with Chuck Noll and Andy Reid and Dan Reeves included. Chuck Noll of course played for the Browns...and is a native of Cleveland. 5. Two teams have won Championships in their history under 4 different Head coaches. Name these two teams. Packers with Lambeau, Lombardi, Holmgren and McCarthy Giants with Steve Owens, Jim Lee Howell, Bill Parcells, Tom Coughlin 6. Hint: now defunct "Giants stadium" The Meadowlands in New Jersey. 492 games. The key of course is that from like 1974 to 2011 or so.....that stadium was home to 2 NFL teams...so it really got twice as much use as any other stadium. B. If you can....name the other stadiums in the Top 5 in this category. #2 is Soldier Field 420 games #3 The LA Coliseum...402 games and counting #4 is Jack Murphy/Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego. 398 games. #5 is Cleveland Municipal Stadium.
