You can strike Kansas City from the number 12 question 12. As they will be hosting the AFC championship game next Sunday. The first time since the 1970 merger

did it not get moved inside due to weather? I could have sworn they moved it inside because I remember hearing they had to modify the field. Was only 80 yards long 60 from goal line to goal line. Maybe i dreamed it.

That was an unofficial game played in 1932. The first official NFL playoff game was a 1933 held in Wrigley Field between the Bears and I believe the Giants

Perhaps....it was an arena in Chicago for that 1932 game....which in reality was just an exhibition game.  It did NOT count for the championship.  But it did give the league the idea for a championship game, and the next year they did hold an official one in Wrigley.

The pro football Hall of fame recognizes it as a game to determine the champion

Well...I don't know.....but from the same article you linked this was in there:

On July 8, 1933, the NFL was divided into two divisions for the first time and the winners of each division were to play a championship game to determine the league champion. On Dec. 17, 1933, the Bears defeated the New York Giants, 23-21 in the first official NFL championship game.

So...its one of those things.   If in fact the 1932 game WAS used to determine the league championship....why then was it not "official"?

It may be like the NFL not recognizing the AAFC, even though they merged with that league.  (the reason for that action was simple: Bert Bell who served as both the owners of the Eagles and as NFL Commissioner was jealous and bitter over the fact that the Browns came into the league and wiped the defending NFL champion Eagles asses....and went on to win the title in their first year in the league...and to dominate the league.   It is mere pettiness.

I think it is just semantics. As in 1932 it was a one game playoff to determine the champion. Then based on the success of that playoff game before the next season they determined there would be a Post season championship game prior to the start of the season.

If portsmouth had won that game in 32 they would have been noted the champs so it had to be for the championship
