Senate passed a unanimous bill to keep the government running until Feb and it looked like it was going to pass the House about the same...    Until the President placed a phone call.

Right now this is on him.  I don't always like to point fingers because it doesn't solve much.  However if Congress doesn't want to be hit with that whole 'abdication of duties' bit, it would be best for them to pass the budget and send it to Trump.  IF he wants to sign it then great.  If he wants to veto it, then override that as the last unanimous bit indicates they'll have the votes, and lets fight about the stupid wall when things are actually up and running.

However what I don't like is ANY President thinking they can declare a national emergency then do as they please.   Being an elected King is not what that position is supposed to reflect.  I've said it a few times on this board and I'll repeat myself now - the condensing and expansion of power within the Executive branch over the last 30 years is a troubling thing to me.

Even Mitch does not want to use that National Emergency BS from the National Drama Queen🤴. He knows that goes against and overrides the constitutional powers of congress.

The Founders of the country put in place a nice system of checks and balances to keep any branch of government of having too much power. Whatever executive order is put in place by any president it is open to challenge in federal courts as well as congress can over rule an EO.

We currently have members of Congress that won't propose a budget simply because they believe the President 'MIGHT' veto their budget.

Like I said... abdication.

There is still another avenue of appealing an executive order to a federal judge.

It's just a disgrace with all those prominent dems wanting a WALL,

then refusing to allocate one freaking dollar for a wall.

Time for democrats to send their party an attitude adjustment in 2020, mcgovern-style

The smart dems know that voters want to see meaningful legislation passed instead of endless investigations about anything Trump and have encouraged the dems to focus on legislating in the House and not just have endless investigations.  They won't listen. They can't help themselves,  they hate the guy too much.  That will play into Trump's hand in 2020.

the dems were fine with billions and billions given freely to iran, but not 5 billion to help secure our border against

dangerous undesirables?

sick stuff by the dems. completely unjustifiable.

Trump Trolls Acosta To His Face. It's Hilarious.

Back in the Oval Office on Friday after his trip to the Southern border, President Trump was confronted by a number of reporters, one of whom just happened to be CNN’s Chief White House correspondent James Acosta, who inadvertently did Trump a favor when he also traveled to the border, posed next to the wall, and noted there “were no migrants trying to rush for this fence,” adding “matter of fact, it’s pretty tranquil down here.”

Trump trolled Acosta to his face, asserting, “Good job yesterday. I appreciate your salesmanship. I appreciate your salesmanship. … Some people are dumb.”

All the federal workers will get back pay, even the one's that are sitting at home.

They did one of those over Xmas vacation once while I was on leave. I still got paid but they would not give me back my annual leave while those made to stay at home were not charged annual leave. Sometimes the dice in Vegas just don't go your way.🎲😱

Nancy Pelosi Whines That a Border Wall Discriminates Against People Entering Illegally

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi complained that President Trump's border barrier proposal "discriminates" against those entering the country illegally.

"Quite frankly when the president talks about this being a national security issue, it really isn't. It's about a policy that is discriminatory about where people are coming into this country," she said.

Even Trump acknowledged that and knew the court it would go to would likely reject his "emergency". Graham was leading him into a possible impeachment trap by insisting he declare that border "emergency" immediately. Just not a smart move and very bad advice. Trump's 17 new lawyers prevailed it seems.

"Except for the fact the House can start impeachment proceedings against a president for practically anything*** how could Trump declaring a national emergency be used as grounds for impeachment? Trump has a constitutional right to declare a national emergency with congress and the courts having the ability to over rule him."

In fine, it may almost be said, that for a President to have done anything which he ought not to have done, or to have left undone anything which he ought to have done, is just cause for his impeachment, if the House by a majority vote feels called on to make it the ground of charges, and the Senate by a two-thirds vote determines it to be sufficient; for the safety of the state is the supreme law, and these bodies are the final judges thereof.

COMMENTARY POLITICS

Watch 1 of the Best Attacks on Illegal Immigration Ever. It Came from Dianne Feinstein 25 Years Ago

Hypocrisy seems to be the main Democratic platform these days. On issues like immigration and border security, it would be one thing if the left had a consistent message. They still might be wrong, but at least you could give them credit for steadfastly believing in their principles.

Instead, the opposite is true. Far from having a consistent stance on immigration, the very same Democrats who are now cheering for open borders and pretending that illegal immigration isn’t a crisis had a very, very different message not so long ago.

Here’s a perfect example. In a video that goes back to 1994, none other than Dianne Feinstein — yes, the Democratic senator who is now implying that enforcing the border is racist — spoke out about the issue, and sounded downright Trump-like.

Amazingly, Feinstein even brought up the issue of “anchor babies,” more accurately called birthright citizenship, which she admitted was wreaking havoc on California already over two decades ago.

“To have a situation where 40 percent of the babies born on Medicaid in California today are born of illegal immigrants, creates a very real problem for the state,” Feinstein strongly stated. “Which is in deficit.”

"You have to get everybody in a room. You have to be a leader. The president has to lead. He has to get (the Speaker of the House) and everybody else in a room, and they have to make a deal. You have to be nice and be angry and be wild and cajole and do all sorts of things, but you have to get a deal.

"And, unfortunately, he has never been a dealmaker. That wasn't his expertise before he went into politics and it's obviously not his expertise now. But you have to get the people in a room and you have to get a deal." - Cheetos Jesus <-- President during the longest government shutdown in the history of the US.

which was so very true. Leadership is different than being a bitch "revolutionary" contrarian who just complains,

and wants to upset the apple cart with vague "change", but instead, just breaks promises, cover-ups on scandals, and stands on the bottom of the river in Egypt.

Marco Rubio exposes the media in ONE tweet…

The current Democratic position on shutdown is “no compromise” & @POTUS unconditional surrender on border security.

What happened to all the lectures from commentators about the need to compromise?

I guess for them “compromise” means when 3 or 4 Reps vote with the Dems.

"The point is that back when Republicans controlled the House and Obama and Democrats controlled the presidency and the Senate, we were constantly told by those in the media that Republicans only controlled 1/3rd and therefore they needed to compromise with Democrats. And this was even after Republicans won big in 2010.

But now that Republicans control the presidency and the Senate, that argument is nowhere to be found."

Rubio also affirmed this morning, in light of the new and bigger caravan headed to the US border, that this is exactly why our border security is in crisis.

This is something Democrats don’t really seem to care about. If they did they would be making the same argument as Rubio and they’d be be putting a stop to it. But rather, they watched their president of the last eight years enact policies that put out the welcome mat for these migrants and now they keep coming. Who knows how many are raped and trafficked that we never hear about.

Of course these caravans are coordinated by people who are against borders, so let’s not forget that. But even so, many of these migrants probably know someone that knows someone who got into the US on a previous journey, and thus they are willing to try and do the same.

If Democrats weren’t playing politics, they could stop the government shutdown and put a stop to the caravans. But 2020 is just around the corner and the last thing they want is another four years of Trump. Which is probably exactly what they are gonna get.

CARAVAN!

Yup, right on Q they round up another batch and now its gonna be like a perpetual motion machine. Sharknado 2 is coming and in a couple months 3 and 4 will come out almost simultaneously.

It wont end until they've lured 1 million hondurans to our border and the human crisis gets way too out of hand.

Take a little ride. Does not cover it all 100% for obvious reasons, but gives a pretty good idea how much is open and a lot of the ridiculous terrain including the meandering Rio Grande, canyons, mountains, desert, etc.
