The Gipper
Outstanding job by you all in just over one day. Here are the answers (all but a partial one gotten): Here is some trivia, dealing mostly with the playoffs: 1. Name those teams that have been in existence for the whole time...and who have waited longer than the Browns have since their last title in 1964. Cardinals 1947; Lions 1957; Vikings 1960 (no titles); Tits/Oilers 1961 in Houston; Chargers 1963. (The Tits/Oilers is only question not gotten) (Eagles were on this list until they won it last year) 2. What teams played each other 8 times in the postseason in a 12 year period between 1973 and 1985.....but who have never met since...until this year? Rams and Cowboys....they played each other in the postseason 6 times in 7 years between 1973 and 1980...and then again in 1983 and 1985....and have not met since until they will play this coming week. 3. What is the only team to have played in both the AFC Conf. title game, and the NFC Conf. title game? The Seattle Seahawks They were in the AFC from 1977 to 2001...and appeared in the AFC title game in 1983. They have been in the NFC since then and have been in the NFC title game 3 times at least. 4. Who was the first HC to make 4 Super Bowl appearances? Don Shula. He was the losing HC in SBIII for the Colts...then he went to Miami, and led them to the SB 3 times in a row....1971/72/73. Lost the first two and won the last two. I believe that he appeared in only 2 more SBs after that in 82/84....losing both. Record in SBs is 2-4. 5. Name the only 3 NFC teams who have NOT played in the NFC Conf. title game since the year 2000. Lions, Redskins, and Cowboys. 6. A. What was the coldest game ever played by straight temperature? The Ice Bowl, 1967 Green Bay Wisc....Packers and Cowboys (by the way...that game was the very first postseason game in Cowboys franchise history) B. What was the coldest game ever played by wind Chill factor? (hint...they are not the same game) Cincinnati, Ohio 1982....Bengals vs. SD Chargers. This game was only a week after the crazy OT game the Chargers and Dolphins played in Miami. 7. Who is the ONLY QB in history to have started multiple postseason games (2 or more) and to have never lost. Frank Reich.....current HC of the Colts. 8. A. What team holds the all time record for most consecutive postseason game losses? The Detroit Lions. Nine and counting...that is...if they could ever make the postseason again. B. What team holds the all time record for most consecutive postseason wins? The New England Patriots.. 10 in a row...when they won the SB in 3 out of 4 years. (were not in playoffs in 2002) 9. Over the weekend, 3 of the 4 Wildcard teams won. (Colts, Chargers, Eagles)...and are still alive to win the Super Bowl. What is the last Wildcard team to win the Super Bowl? 2010 Green Bay Packers 10. The following are years that the Browns made the postseason. Name the Browns starting QB in each of these postseason games: 2002 Kelly Holcomb (Couch injured) 1994 Vinny Testaverde 1989 Bernie Kosar 1988 Don Strock (Kosar injured) 1982 Paul McDonald (strike year...Browns had losing record) 1980 Brian Sipe Notes on this: BK also started multiple postseason games in 1985/86/87/89 .....all the others except Testaverde (beat NE) on this list only ever started one postseason game for the Browns (people seem to forget that Sipe played in all of just one playoff game here.
