La Canfora..hue to be HC in cincy

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, there is a "growing sense" Hue Jackson could take over as the Bengals' head coach if Marvin Lewis retires or transitions to an upper-management role.
The idea of Jackson landing another head-coaching job seems almost unfathomable after his disastrous tenure with Cleveland but he's reportedly a favorite of owner Mike Brown, who has a reputation for "doing things his own way." Per La Canfora, Brown almost always hires "within the Bengals family" of former coaches and has praised Jackson for his work with franchise quarterback Andy Dalton. La Canfora added it would "not be a surprise at all" if Lewis stepped away from coaching in 2019 and allowed his close friend Jackson to take over. Hue-Jax would be the ultimate cocoon hire.

It’s strange because I remember thinking this at the beginning of the year:

“the Bengals are the new Browns” ...(of the North)

"The Bengals are the old Bengals".

Let's keep them that way.

He's definitely a cringe worthy and overrated writer. And the bengals would have to be insane to hire Hue after today.

Both him and Marvin might both be out of a job...

Not usual that I would lament on one of my own posts.. But just think.. Hue could be the first coach to get fired 2x's in one season.. How historic would that be...

Mike Brown does NOT operate like any other owner.  He is a skinflint and likely would NEVER  pay someone to sit at home...or to work for another team while he is paying them big bucks.  (like the Browns are doing with Hue).

What is Marvin Lewis's contract situation for next year?  If he still is under contract for next year, he will be the HC there.

You never know...they may be better off with Drexel...Drexler, wtfever.   They were yesterday.

Too bad they couldn't get BR that way.

BTW, Starvin' Marvin is signed through the 2019 season.  Will Mikey break tradition and can him if the Bengals proceed directly to the Dumpster with Dandy Andy out for the year?

Must be a broken\dislocated thumb.....

You'd be surprised Gip at the # of Bengal fans in SW Ohio who have wanted Dalton gone for a long time. MHO? he's an average to slightly above average QB- that can look great, surrounded by great talent. We just saw what happens when his #1 go to target AJ Green isn't in the lineup. I'm not going to look up the exact numbers but it's something like the Bengals are 2-8 when he's not playing.

Add in skinflint Mike Brown let the likes of Sannu, Whitworth, Iloka, Peko and other top talent walk away because he was too cheap to pay the going rate....  BTW, losing the often injured, but very talented when he's healthy Tyler Eifert has helped put the Bungles on the skids.  So It hasn't made Dalton's job any easier working with second tier talent and expecting playoffs.

PS- Dalton's contract is essentially up after this season, so the Bengals can let him walk and not pay him the $16 million he's due if they release him. And don't be surprised if they decide to do so. Backup Betsy current starter Jeff Driskel is on a one year deal paying him a salary that Mike Brown has to love- $630k.  :)
