I really do. People acting like animals, in a hurry, accidents, shootings, traffic jammed up. Schiddt football......seldom the Browns. Add to that we had to endure a fahcking bye week.

Thanksgiving is the most boring time of the year for me. I hate it. All this fackcking down time and i STILL have to wait 3 days for a faugking Browns game. Fauck Dallas and rest.of the schidtt they put on.

and the disgusting food that sits in ur stomach for weeks that we're supposed to worship...….

We went to the Horseshoe Casino. I had a steak dinner, no dessert. No leftover bullschidt at home. We handed out Turkeys in the street on Wednesday. I'm ready for football. Screw this fake reverence. People are shooting each other up in Memphis tonight.

holidays in America period, are annoying as sht. The rest of the year people pretend like they're not aholes, during the holidays they stop pretending.

You don't have to pretend, everyone knows you are one, and will always be one.

I agree that there is a lot of fake reverence  in the world. And a lot of it is performed by the national football league.

Easy solution just move out of The United States of America where they don't even have Thanksgiving -and- you can even watch soccer!

Meanwhile I'm going to have some leftovers.....why do they taste better the next day?

Is this a great country or what!  ;)

A tradition that is dying by the year. More important is to be the first in line for the early opening Black Friday deals,. Buy, America!!! Buy!!!  If you can't make a buck off of a holiday, it doesn't matter.

Damn right- and the only way I can stomach turkey is if it's buried under a mountain of cranberry sauce. Grilled up a couple NY strips for me and the brother in law yesterday. If no one ate turkey- there would be a couple hundred of them per square mile in no time.

We agree. The giving thanks part is good, but honestly buddy, I do that every day. The Holiday has become a ridiculous ritual.

I actually need some clothes for an upcoming trip but I'll be damned if I am dealing with the mass nonsense. I'll just go Monday.

Here's to a nice Sunday.

Yes Ghoolie but Thanksgiving is also time when we're supposed to give thanks for our blessings!  As a browns fan you should be thankful for a franchise QB, Myles Garret, Dorsey etc..  and the makings of a winning team!

Yes and some traditions like believe it or not I actually watch the Macy's parade and have for 60+ years.

I really like a good turkey dinner stuffing first, the wife this year tried a Hawaiian bread stuffing along with thd regular stuff it was good along with plenty of good gravy, mashed potatoes, of course dark & some white meat, green bean casserole with mushrooms as the main plate and plenty of hors d'oevures and some good desserts all which last as main meals and snacks for a few days. We also tried different black and green olives this year Nobody has to force me to eat that.

And I love catching football on and off this year. We called, texted and emailed various friends during the day.

On it goes.....we will not get near a mall all weekend. What's not to like about Thanksgiving?  :)

At work we have the radio on at all times, and it was a pain in the ass listening to all Black Friday commercials. Even more when it's not a Spanish holiday thus we have a regular Thursday and Friday. Nonsense.

About Thanksgiving, I like its spirit, being grateful about what we are given is important,  but nowadays any holiday can turn into a frivolity. Though I'd be more worried with Halloween (praising death and monsters? Really?)

Halloween has grown in leaps and bounds recently in popularity and money spent on costumes and parties.

Just another diversion I guess. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter also not missed by marketers to get people to buy.....but I still like Thanksgiving, always will.

That's (partly) not how it started, but read on.

Yup- ca-ching!!! Buy, America, buy! besides the costumes, always was spend a couple billion on candy and outfits for the kids, now adults too. And originally Thanksgiving wasn't about how much food you could cram down your mouth in one afternoon either.

But way back- Hallow'een = All Hallows Eve. Day before All Saints Day. Dress up as your favorite saint. Sort of the same way St. Patrick's Day has turned into a day to see how much green beer and other booze you can swill. I'm sure St. Patrick would not approve of that part. There were some old pagan traditions that this time of year it was easier to get in contact with the departed spirits.

In reference to Ghoolie's Memphis shootings on the Holiday- one of the worst sights I ever saw in my inner city  Emergency Room days happened on Thanksgiving. A guy's wife made him the Thanksgiving turkey- carved him up and he had significant chunks of his body missing.   :(

...you're not just a Ghoul, you're a Grinch.

Now that we're heading toward the next holiday, can you imagine a modern day Ebeneezer Ghoolie story?

I'm guessing the narration goes like this:

After telling the last batch of kids that I AM EBENEEZER GHOOLIE and there is no Santa Claus - it was time to shout BAH HUMBUG at the people I was tossing eggs at singing Christmas Carols.  In any event, the first Ghost showed up at Midnight and I re-buried him at 5 after.  The second Ghost showed up at 2am with a tape measure, skin fold calipers and a weight scale - and he burned better in the fireplace than wood.  The last Ghost was Paul Brown; and I set his asss straight that the owner he hated moved the old franchise to Baltimore. I made sure I didn't tell him Modell died.  He assured me he'd finally start haunting the right team if I agreed to clean up a couple things...

Now I gotta go take care of the FUKKING Cratchets and their little brat Tiny Tim.  Then I'm going surprise my nephew with an all expenses paid trip to Vegas on his Uncle's coin.  What else?   Just when my wife didn't think the bedroom gymnastics under the sheets could get any better - I bought a mechanical bull with 17 different gears she can mount me on.  I remain the King of Sting that all you poor COCKSUCKERS can only dream of becoming.  MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HARMONICA!!!

You got that right. Anyone remember ambulance trips and arrests over Beanie Babies or Cabbage Patch Dolls on Black Friday? No one admits to being involved in that now.

The holidays are stupid. Start it off by eating enough to go into a coma. Same songs over and over, plus we decorate the outside and bring a tree inside. The tree is the most flammable object in the house, and so what do we do? We wrap it in the cheapest wire made, so crappy that it doubles as a heater element, and then plug it in and go to sleep. That’s just plain messed up.

Well, I won't lie, I love Thanksgiving. I love the food we make, the leftovers the following day, the football that's on, my friends coming into town, and whatever else. I also think giving thanks for what we have is appropriate, and probably something that should be considered more often. As I've said before, I work with homeless military veterans, so I never forget just how good we have it, and also WHY we have it.

I love Thanksgiving.

Food, family and Football ... what could be better?

And the big day that you have to be dressed and be somewhere comes first, on Thursday,  and then you have a nice, long three day weekend to enjoy yourselves and do what makes you happy.

The weather is Perfect here in Naples in November.

That Black Friday stuff effects me in no ways at all. I don't shop, I don't watch a lot of commercial TV, I dont really care what other folks are up to, I live my life and enjoy my holiday.

Gonna have a nice day watching Ohio St. with the little woman and grilling out in the backyard, maybe do a fire tonight ..  Browns tomorrow!
