WEEK 13 TOP 25 RANKINGS from SB Nation.....

.

This college football season’s had a lot of chaos on the fringes of the Playoff race, but little in the way of attrition right at the top. Week 12’s results didn’t change that, with only West Virginia dropping out of the race.

There’s guaranteed upheaval next week, when either Ohio State or Michigan has to fall out. The Big 12 could provide more, too, depending on if West Virginia can beat Oklahoma in Morgantown. So could the Pac-12 if Washington robs rival Washington State of its own divisional title and dream season. But for a few more days, everything’s just about status quo up top.

We’ve updated each of the below top-25 rankings as they’ve released. Explanations for each of these rankings are below the table.

The Playoff committee’s rankings come out Tuesday. Here are a bunch of other rankings, both of the human- and computer-generated variety:

College Football Betting Preview – Michigan at Ohio State

Is this finally the year that Jim Harbaugh and Michigan beat Urban Meyer and Ohio State? It won’t be easy, as the Wolverines have not won in Columbus since 2000. Both teams come into this game at 10-1 and each has national championship hopes, although Ohio State needs more help to reach the College Football Playoff, as they are behind the Wolverines in the rankings. Let’s look at this matchup on Saturday that can be seen on FOX and college football picks.

Date and Time: Saturday, November 24, 2018, 12:00 p.m. ET
Location: Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH
College Football Odds at BetDSI: Michigan -4
Michigan vs. Ohio State TV Coverage: FOX

There is no question that this is a huge game for both teams, but you have to think the urgency to win this game for Harbaugh and Michigan is off the charts. Harbaugh still has not beaten Meyer and his job could be on the line if the Wolverines don’t win this game. Michigan has almost been in must-win mode since losing in double overtime in Columbus two years ago. This year’s Michigan team is considered better than Ohio State, but they have to prove it on the road in Columbus on Saturday.

"We're not proving anything to anybody, they're going to get (whatever they want) out of it," senior running back Karan Higdon said to the media, "We're proving stuff to ourselves." The winner of Saturday’s game stays in national title contender and will play in the Big Ten title game against Northwestern.

Harbaugh has had a lot of success in terms of wins at Michigan, as he has 38 wins in his first 50 games, but none of those wins will mean much unless the Wolverines win on Saturday. Harbaugh is 0-3 against the Buckeyes and another loss could spell the end for Harbaugh at Michigan, because beating Ohio State is everything for Michigan football. Michigan was in this spot in 2016, as they were considered the better team, but in the fourth quarter the team got tight and everything fell apart.

On the other side, the Buckeyes have been barely surviving all season. They gave up 51 points last week and should have lost to Maryland. The Buckeyes are 10-1, but they don’t look like a good team. They have Dwayne Haskins and J.K. Dobbins and not much else. The defense has been a sieve of late and they gave up 298 yards rushing to Anthony McFarland last week. The Buckeyes have given up at least 500 yards three times this season.

Key Stats

The Wolverines are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Wolverines are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Buckeyes are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in November. The Buckeyes are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 conference games.

Looking at the total, the Under is 5-2 in the Wolverines last 7 road games. The Over is 11-5 in the Wolverines last 16 games in November. The Under is 4-1 in the Buckeyes last 5 home games. The Over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in this series.

Michigan vs. Ohio State Picks

It really is now or never for Harbaugh and Michigan. They couldn’t have a better situation than they do on Saturday. I even think playing on the road helps them a little because they won’t have as much pressure and can be more focused. There is no question they are the better team, as the Buckeyes are simply poor on defense.

There is no question it is a bit risky to take Harbaugh in a big game against Meyer, but this Ohio State team simply looks like a fraud. I will take the Wolverines in this contest. I also think the total is worth playing, as the only way the Buckeyes can make this a competitive contest is to score a lot of points. I will also play the game to go over the total.

Michigan vs. Ohio State Pick: Michigan and Over at BetDSI
Michigan vs. Ohio State Score Prediction: Michigan 45, Ohio State 32  <----  WHOA, MICHIGAN BY 13 ???

The final slate of games for the 2018 regular season is here: Rivalry Week.

A lot is on the line in this penultimate week of the College Football Playoff race, and that's only heightened with the fact a bitter rival could spoil an entire season's worth of work in a single game. This week, we have four matchups between ranked opponents: No. 6 Oklahoma at No. 12 West Virginia, No. 18 Washington at No. 7 Washington State, No. 4 Michigan at No. 10 Ohio State and No. 14 Utah State at No. 21 Boise State — all with conference title game implications.

MORE: Watch college football live on fuboTV (7-day free trial)

That doesn't even include a revenge game for No. 1 Alabama against Auburn in the Iron Bowl, the matchup between No. 3 Notre Dame and USC to determine if the Irish are Playoff-eligible or the meeting between No. 13 Florida and Florida State, a win the Seminoles need to extend their bowl streak to 37 years.

This is one of the best weeks of the college football season, and for good reason. Here's how you can watch all the top-25 action (all times Eastern; all days Saturday unless otherwise noted):

A lot of that commentary is completely false

- if Harbaugh loses he isn't on the hot seat. He was never even on it. That was just media, hit take, click bait trash

- this isn't "the best situation we could hope for". The longer our coaching staff is here the better players and depth we'd get. Hell, for that to even be true we'd have to have no injuries

- there's also no way we're better off with this game being in cbus

- Harbaugh had outcoached Meyer twice. I'm not concerned about that matchup. But I've been on the wrong side of this for too long to say we'll win.

Now, there is a fairy tale I hope you are not telling your children.  Hansel and Gretel were actually eaten by the witch. As was Little Red Riding Hood....and the three Little Pigs eaten by the Wolf. Rumpelstiltskin got to keep the kid.  etc etc.

Look, I really don't want to get back into it. I don't expect any OSU fan to actually see it. That's fine. It is the truth tho and I hope he can do it again Saturday.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/michigan-ohio-state-is-actually-worth-the-hype-this-year/

It’s been 32 years since Jim Harbaugh last led the Michigan Wolverines to a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ever since the consummate Michigan Man made good on his guarantee in 1986, the maize and blue have largely been muzzled by the scarlet and gray. To some degree, Harbaugh must have returned to his alma mater for games like Saturday’s. But he has fumbled each of his three chances at the Buckeyes.

This week represents his best opening. Las Vegas sportsbooksinstalled the Wolverines as 4-point favorites, despite the fact that Michigan has won just two of its past 17 games against its rivals to the south.1 Expectations loom large for Harbaugh and his team, which may be the more talented squad for the first time in more than a decade. Some have already designated the upcoming game a referendum on his tenure, even though no program this season has rewritten its post-Week 1 narrative more than Michigan has. In fact, according to our Elo ratings, no team has improved more since the preseason than the Wolverines.

Saturday’s matchup is the 115th installment of one of college football’s richest rivalries. This one features a cornucopia of College Football Playoff implications: The winner’s playoff chances will spike to between 59 and 67 percent, according to our model, while the loser will be virtually eliminated from contention. Additionally, of course, the winner of the game will play for a conference championship..........CONTINUED.........
