"I really don’t think this military survey was accurate, just like the polls that said Hillary was going to win by a landslide weren’t accurate. I have been active duty for 22 years and served in 12 different bases and deployments. I know many people from all four branches. I have talked politics with most of the personnel in my various assignments. It is my experience that at least 2/3 (if not 3/4) of the officer corps of all the branches is conservative or libertarian. The enlisted corps is not far behind. Most of the military I’ve met love Trump because he speaks his mind and believes we should be the most powerful force for good in this seriously messed up world. Also because Trump is a capitalist and those of us who have lived in former Communist block countries know socialism destroys the morality, work ethic, and economy everywhere it has been tried...that is part of what we are fighting against. People who don’t like Trump have given in to the propaganda and falsehoods of the 90% of all reporter critics who are democrats and liberals. MAGA!"

The two most glaring demographics are intentionally avoided by that poll.

  1. Most "Hard" MOS personnel both commissioned and enlisted support Trump as CIC.
  2. Most OIF/OEF veterans with multiple deployments support Trump as CIC.
CONUS based Psychologists, logistics analysts and food services administrators are the majority of his critics while actual warfighters love that over the top, hilarious orange man to death. When Obama or Panetta would show up they would pull our bolt carriers and insist on using their own goon squad for security because they knew we could sense their treachery. When Trump and Mattis show up we're 10ft away from them with all of our gear on because they trust us to protect them because we know they are working for us and improving our lives.

Trump treats us 10x better than Obama ever did. The only people that dislike him are the goldbrickers and clipboard jockeys who joined the military to work off their tuition. Some of us actually joined to serve this country and walked away from good paying civilian careers to do so and we looooooove Trump as CIC.

I'll never forgive him for what he did in many other ways, which I'll talk to you about in the future.

But what he did -- because she talked about safety -- what he did to our military made this country very unsafe for you and you and you.

Bahahahhaha. Polls aren't accurate because I don't like them response. All the polls that said the Demo were going to take the house, what they weren't wrong?

It's often much easier for people to believe someone's testimony as opposed to understanding complex data and variation across a continuum. Quantitative scientific measures are almost always more accurate than personal perceptions and experiences, but our inclination is to believe that which is tangible to us, and/or the word of someone we trust over a more 'abstract' statistical reality.

Example: Jason said that that was all cool and everything, but his grandfather smoked, like, 30 cigarettes a day and lived until 97 - so don't believe everything you read about meta analyses of methodologically sound studies showing proven causal relationships.

As Kyle Feldsher noted this morning, Obama got 36 percent favorability, among service members and is viewed as "very" or "somewhat" unfavorable by 52 percent.

But then, there's the question of why. Service members are divided on various initiatives by Obama. On balance (four-to-three in favor), they view the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" as a good thing, but they frown upon mixed-gender combat units (two-to-one against) and transgender service members (more than three-to-one against). This is the kind of "political correctness" introduced into the military by Obama that some have argued comes at the expense of military readiness.

Obama does far worse among the enlisted (17 points net unfavorable) than he does among officers (5 points net unfavorable). He also does far better among Navy personnel (only 2 points net unfavorable) than he does with any other service branch.

The Marines dislike Obama the most, with a staggering 60 percent viewing him unfavorably and only 26 percent favorably.

Service members have somewhat warmer feelings toward President-elect Trump, the poll suggests. Forty-nine percent of those who voted say they voted for him, and 46 percent view him favorably, compared to 37 percent who view him unfavorably.
