pretty pathetic when leftwing dipsticks who were never in the military, and disrespect it, then act like they know it all about our military.

A marine could help a president out by holding an umbrella...maybe for a female intern? in a wind?

but a president who ORDERS a marine to hold an umbrella? that is obaMao asswhole supreme.

that according to Marine Corps uniform regulations umbrellas are strictly off limits for male Marines. Female marines are allowed to carry umbrellas under some very strict guidelines, but male Marines are taught from the beginning that they are not, under any circumstances, to be caught carrying an umbrella.

I have no idea- so far you have zero credibility on this board - you may very well be crazycleve or woodpecker's "I'm so much cooler online" fake news.

you've all been shown pictures of past white presidents using marines as their umbrella bitch.....yet u have the nerve to keep throwing the term "trump derangement sybdrome" out there when ur rehashing something the ex black president did now what, 4-5 years ago? u guys are sociopaths, quite literally.

"you've all been shown pictures of past white presidents using marines as their umbrella bitch.."

You hit the nail on the head why I don't think uniformed soldiers should be holding umbrellas for any president because it is a flunky looking image, one that White House aids and interns should handle. If there are no aids or interns to do the flunky job then I could see a serviceman pressed into service but only if that were the case. It makes our soldiers look like butlers.

The Hill: Trump criticized after White House cancels cemetery visit in France over weather

By Tal Axelrod - 11/10/18 02:41 PM EST

President Trump faced criticism on Saturday while traveling in France after the White House canceled his trip to a cemetery in the northern part of the country due to bad weather.

The president and first lady Melania Trump were scheduled to take a helicopter to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial in Belleau, northern France, about 50 miles from where they are staying in Paris.

But the White House announced in a statement Saturday morning that the trip had been canceled "due to scheduling and logistical difficulties caused by the weather."

White House chief of staff John Kelly and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford planned to visit the cemetery instead, the White House said.

Critics of the president were quick to go after his scrapped visit to the World War I memorial, where more than 2,000 soldiers are buried.

“It's not even 60 miles from central Paris to the monument. If the weather is too wet & windy for helicopters, a presidential motorcade could drive the distance in an hour,” David Frum, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, wrote in a Twitter thread.

“It’s incredible that a president would travel to France for this significant anniversary — and then remain in his hotel room watching TV rather than pay in person his respects to the Americans who gave their lives in France for the victory gained 100 years ago tomorrow

Ben Rhodes, a political adviser and top speechwriter in the Obama administration, also criticized the White House for not having a contingency in place for bad weather.

“I helped plan all of President Obama’s trips for 8 years. There is always a rain option. Always," he tweeted.

Others criticizing Trump's canceled visit Saturday to the war cemetery included Nicholas Soames, a British member of Parliament and grandson of Winston Churchill.

“They died with their face to the foe and that pathetic inadequate @realDonaldTrump couldn’t even defy the weather to pay his respects to The Fallen," Soames tweeted.

The criticism came as several foreign dignitaries were spotted taking part in other ceremonies outside Paris on Saturday, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Trump is in France for the weekend to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the end of World War I. More than 115,000 Americans died in World War I... Trump is scheduled to attend a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe with more than 100 world leaders on Sunday.

Apparently, plenty of other people know the weather was not that big a problem - I agree with you, unless

there was a good reason behind the scenes.

One possibility - is the current political climate - he is threatened hugely by leftwing Americans, and not

well liked by socialist countries.

Too freaking bad.

I still think Trump should have gone. can't imagine him being afraid, unless his security said there were too many credible threats.

You're crazy

You're bitching about something that happened with Obama in 5 years ago and then blaming liberals when Trump clearly messed up recently

SURESNES, France — President Donald Trump paid tribute on Sunday to Americans who fought in the two world wars, saying the nation is forever in their debt during a visit to a cemetery in France where more than 1,500 of them are buried.

“It’s been a wonderful two days we spent in France, and this has certainly been the highlight of the trip," Trump said in remarks that capped a weekend in Paris where he and more than 80 other world leaders marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Despite some tense overtones between Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron during the weekend over their visions of international cooperation, the president praised the unity between his host country and the U.S. in times of war.

“We fought well together. You could not fight better than we fought together,” Trump said of France and the U.S.

“The American and French patriots of World War I embody the timeless virtues of our two republics: honor and courage, strength and valor, love and loyalty, grace and glory,” Trump said. “It is our duty to preserve the civilization they defended, and to protect the peace they so nobly gave their lives to secure one century ago.”

Trump’s spoke at the Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial outside of Paris a day after he came under criticism for canceling a visit to another American cemetery near the city because of inclement weather.

Standing at the presidential podium under a steady rain without an umbrella, Trump joked to six World War II veterans about their enviable position keeping them dry.

“You look so comfortable up there under shelter as we're getting drenched,” Trump said, drawing laughter from the crowd. “Very smart people.”

“You look like you’re in very good shape, all of you,” he added. “I hope I look like that some day. America is forever in your debt.”

Trump, who walked among the gravestones at the cemetery before delivering his remarks, noted he was standing near the site of one of the deadliest battles in U.S. history for American forces.

The cemetery is home to the remains of more than 1,500 Americans who died in World War I and 24 unknown U.S. dead from World War II.
