OldBrownsFan Posted October 19, 2018 Report Share Posted October 19, 2018 According to the Associated Press, the migrant caravan heading for the US has now turned back at the border with Mexico: So it looks like the federal police in Mexico has forced the caravan to turn back. The AP appears to be the only news organization reporting this. Earlier today it was reported in the WSJ that Mexico would grant visas to the migrants, but only 100 per day. Which meant that their 2k-4k migrant caravan would be waiting for a very long time to get them all into Mexico. The caravan of disorganized women, men and children headed toward the border post Friday morning. They got as far as a closed metal gate where two military jeeps were parked and Guatemalan police in riot gear looked on silently. The migrants also chanted: “We are not smugglers, we are immigrants.” Dozens of Mexican federal police officers were on the bridge, with hundreds of others behind. Mexico’s ambassador to Guatemala said his country had decided to enforce a policy of “metered entry” in the face of the thousands clamoring to cross.
