let's consult the ESPN power rankings I know guys like our Gipper hate these things but what the he11.

18. Cleveland Browns

Record: 2-2-1
Week 5 ranking: 23gn-arrow.png

Rest-of-season SOS ranking: 2nd. The Browns' toughest remaining game is Week 8 at the Steelers, where they have a 16 percent chance to win, according to FPI. Cleveland already has tied the Steelers this season, and they are the only team in NFL history to be tied at some point in the fourth quarter of each of their first five games in a season. -- Clawson

Am with Gip. More pure ESPN Ca-Ca..They must have Merril Hoge,J.Bettis or Cower doing there power rankings..Week 9 with KC is our toughest game left on schedule. KC beat the chits in the berg. Should be a good watch to what Belicheck does defensively with MaHolmes this week.. #fireClawson

I saw one other PR that had 14. LAC and 17. CLE.

I also think the BROWNS have everyone a bit off because they're 2-2-1 and actually a possible 4-1 or 5-0 so what now if they win here are they a top 10 NFL team?

And do you think the HBO series Hard Knocks kind of help this youngest team in the NFL mature sooner than anyone expected? And yes we all know here that the BROWNS could and should have beat the steelrz in game 1.

GO BROWNS, big week beat the bolts.

Un-draftable Baker has every chance now to push wild-card & division.. https://www.nfl.com/playoffs/playoff-picture  🤫 Chargers come down first..

I just hope that because of "that dumbazz kicker with a bad groin.....or whatever" doesn't cost them a legitimate wild card or dare we say AFCN shot.

I for one admit I didn't think they had a snowball's chance in he11 of competing until 2019, gunshy from 1-31 I guess.

But they do have a challenging schedule left, 6+ wins total would still be OVER the top.

Browns win in overtime ........ overtime experts now

I called one OT tie that's enough....I'd like to see the Victory kneel down play by the BROWNS!

Enough kardiac stuff for another week.

You  are so wrong in so many ways about LSU baseball. 6 time National Champs since 1991 and 18 appearances in the College World Series since 1986. They take it serious down there in Baton Rouge.

And one person did in fact notice a copy cat.......................me.😛

Didn't even know LSU had a baseball team! That's how "relevant" they are!!  🤣

ok cmon dude, do u really think..right now....that we're in KC's league? i mean, we play them later in the year and if the browns play that game close or possibly even win...then we can legit say this team might have a shot in the playoffs.

but rem everything "instantly" changes in the playoffs. During the season defenses take downs off and go.have a beer....we've seen our def do it. So even beating the chiefs in the reg season if they've already more or less wrapped up their div and homefield, means sht unless we absolutely put a skirt on them and and chased them around the field like drunk HS boys wanting to be scotus some day

I don't care about KC or any team we're talking wild card or AFCN -AND- I said I didn''t think they'd be competitive until until 2019.

BUT if they were 4-1 or 5-0 they would be talking about worst to first right now, dude.

You don't have "magical" seasons without staying relatively healthy, so this isn't bad.

I'd love to see James Burgess get healthy, then we have five good linebackers and I think we use Avery more as a pass rusher specialist.

What to do, hmmmm? Why not let's consult the ESPN power rankings I know guys like our Gipper hate these things but what the he11.

14. Los Angeles Chargers

Record: 3-2
Week 5 ranking: 16gn-arrow.png

Rest-of-season SOS ranking: 20th. The Chargers' toughest remaining game will be in Week 13 at the Steelers, where FPI gives Los Angeles a 35 percent chance to win. Last time these teams met in Pittsburgh was in 2012 when the Chargers led by as many as 24 points in their 34-24 win. That remains the Steelers' largest deficit at any point in a home game in the past 10 seasons. -- Koontz

-- Clawson

SO the LA-LA Rams should be the play here but screw it.....the BROWNS both cover and win this one and not by a last second FG.

BROWNS 34    LA-LA Rams 17    Book it Dano.

Under the REAL power rankings....known as the actual standings the Jags don't even make the playoffs at this point.  Titans beat them head to head.

So, to quote my Dad  (and The Old Man from Pawn Stars):   your power rankings are about as useless as tits on a boar hog.

I'd love to see an easy victory and a nice relaxing 4th quarter but the Chargers are good and are always going to be tough to beat as long as 17 in playing QB.

Browns 20

Chargers 17

Losandiego Chargers miss a FG under 2 minutes left to seal the victory.

This thread seems to take away the Thunder from Zombo's  TWITAFCN thread.   Since he has not started that thread, and since I will be going out of town tomorrow,  I will have to put my pick here, now, although I already made a pick above which I will reiterate........but I did have to confirm my temp hiring who has helped me out by taking my dicktation. This week they sent Rachel to me.  How do you say Browns 29 Chargers 19 in shorthand?

Yes they are a bit subjective and not strictly on W/L percentages but even sportsbooks use then to help set lines not just start debates.

You're projecting playoffs based on current record. A lot of the power rankings are projecting what they think a team will do in the future. Like the Titans are less likely to make the playoffs than the Jaguars. Hey the Browns have the same record as the Vikings, we're obviously just as "powerful". LOL It's a Beauty Contest Gip, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I get that.....but it is still a fact that the standings are the ONLY thing that counts.

So, if the power rankings are just a beauty contest (and I agree with that).....then, at this point, it is only a beauty contest for babies. (which, to me are kind of disgusting)

LOL, now I have to give you some grief- how about your Super Stud Saquon helping the Giants to a stellar 1-5 record? You were a little late to the Baker party.  :)  It's not just about scoring points, it's also about preventing the other team from scoring points- and Denzel Ward stopped at least 6, and possibly 9 bu the Ravens with that interception and blocked field goal.

Yeah, I watched most of the Eagles- Giants game, and here's my impression. They showed a clip of Barkley comparing him to Barry Sanders. OK, he's good, maybe very good, his 230 or so combined yards resulted in another loss. So question- riddle me this- how many Super Bowls was Barry a part of? Answer- none. Here's the G-Men's problems as I see them. They have no defense- Wentz took them apart- think the other Chubb or Ward would have helped out there?  And as I opined before the draft Eli is as washed up as a beached whale, even worse than your whipping boy Brady. If it was Gettleman's idea (their GM's) one last hurrah with Eli, Saquon, and Beckham it officially blew up last night. OTOH, if his idea was to pull a Browns and go 3-13 or worse to snag Eli's replacement at the top of the 2019 draft- just might be perverted genius, but we'll see if those impatient New York fans won't want to run him out of town before April next year rolls around.

Them Giants fans just might be wishing they had drafted Darnold and not Saquon.
