calfoxwc
yup. mmgw is a crock. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2018/10/large-scale-wind-power-has-its-down-side/
Clevfan4life
you should read your own articles past the title dipsht... “If your perspective is the next 10 years, wind power actually has — in some respects — more climate impact than coal or gas. If your perspective is the next thousand years, then wind power has enormously less climatic impact than coal or gas.”
TexasAg1969
And the conclusion: “The work should not be seen as a fundamental critique of wind power,” he said. “Some of wind’s climate impacts will be beneficial — several global studies show that wind power cools polar regions. Rather, the work should be seen as a first step in getting more serious about assessing these impacts for all renewables. Our hope is that our study, combined with the recent direct observations, marks a turning point where wind power’s climatic impacts begin to receive serious consideration in strategic decisions about decarbonizing the energy system.” This is nothing but a preliminary study that reaches no conclusive finding, just directions for future research. And hidden in here is "how much land it uses". Having just driven through massive wind farms near Snyder/Sweetwater, Texas, I can tell you that all the land under them is still used for farming with the exception of the actual footprint of the structure itself, which is minimal. https://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=picture+of+wind+farm+snyder+tx&fr=yhs-pty-pty_weather&hspart=pty&hsimp=yhs-pty_weather&imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.pinimg.com%2F736x%2F65%2Fdd%2F96%2F65dd967d3e5f40327e01e91f56881373--wind-farms-texas-pride.jpg#id=4&iurl=https%3A%2F%2Fc1.staticflickr.com%2F5%2F4083%2F5090947755_51ffcdac59_b.jpg&action=click
Clevfan4life
wind tho can never be the sole provider of our energy needs, this we already knew. Neither can solar by itself, they are supplementary
calfoxwc
it has serious problems, this just adds to the list. Let me know when the earth starts to flood. Maybe then I might build a few less campfires.
MLD Woody
As soon as I saw Cal trying to reference a study by Harvard as some sort of "gotcha" on climate change I knew he misread it. I was getting ready to come in here and go through the normal motions but you guys beat me to it.

Want me to list them all over again? Go ahead, make my hay.
