MSU vs ASU could be a very good game

Herm Edwards had ASU smoking pretty good last week.

I suppose I should have some loyalty to Az St.    My father  in law got his Master's degree from there.

Just thinking, what other schools, based on familial grounds that I should have "allegiance" to:

Father in law:  Illinois UG, and AZ St. Master's degree (he attended Wittenberg before WWII....but quit when the war broke out, then went to Ill.  )

Mother in law: Wittenberg  UG, Case Tech (now Case Western Reserve)....nursing

(neither of my parents attended college)

Me:  Akron U UG and Cleveland State (Cleve-Marshall College of Law) J.D.

Wife:  Wisconsin Stevens Point

Son:  Kenyon UG  and Cornell...

Daughter: Trinity Univ. (Texas)

Nephew:  Dayton UG,    Johns Hopkins, nursing

6 kids in my family, I am the only one with a degree, plus just the one nephew with a degree. though, perhaps one of my nieces may have gotten some kind of associates degree through her husband's military career. I would have to check.  A couple of my nieces/nephew's spouses have Akron U degrees..    Only one currently attending school:  my son at Cornell, working on PhD.

Have I "rooted" for these schools in the past?  Yes, all really except probably AZ St. , Illinois, and Dayton which I have not paid much attention to, even though my father in law played football for Illinois!  I know he earned  a letter. But I also understand that he got injured in a game against Notre Dame that pretty much ended his college football career.  My daughter was a cheerleader for Trinity for 4 years, and at senior day she got her recognition right along with the football players.  I actually attended that game, plus I attended a game where CWRU played Trinity, here in Cleveland, (though the school did not have the cheerleaders travel with the team from Texas).  (Grandmother had already passed away when her school met my daughter's school.....no mixed loyalty there, Trinity all the way....though they did lose that game)

Go ahead and give your familial allegiances to colleges.

Uh no, my family’s not from here and none went to tu.

Then why the apparent embarrassment?  It is perfectly alright to say that your family does not have a history of higher education.  (it is my wife's family, not mine that has that history).   My dad went through all of 6th grade.  My mom got the equivalent of a HS education...in England, whatever that is.  Like I said, out of 6 kids in my family, only I graduated college. (a couple of my sisters took a few classes, but none even completed as much as their freshman year).

Out of my entire extended family, me, my wife and my two kids have more  college degrees than all of the rest of them combined...not even counting the PhD. my son is working on.

So, don't be afraid.  TAMU is cool.  (as for my busting your chops about UT....that is just a friendly busting of your chops.  The only Texas school I care about really is Trinity.....and honestly, I don't like them much because of their shite financial aid policy....which has left my daughter with massive student load debt, and because I think they did fuyuck all to help her get a job.

After a casual look only one top 25 matchup? Not a really overly exciting week 2.

No. 3 Georgia (-9.5) at No. 24 South Carolina 3:30 p.m., CBS

Outside of the usual top 4 teams there are:

Four to watch

Wisconsin will continue to cruise in the Big Ten West. Jonathan Taylor will pad his stats this week against New Mexico, but we're still watching Alex Hornibrook's development. Penn State survived the upset big against Appalachian State. We'll hang on to the Nittany Lions, but we need to see them make a statement at Pitt on Saturday. Notre Dame is back in the conversation after a win against Michigan. We know this happens every year, but the Irish have the offensive and defensive lines now. That helps. West Virginia's offense can score 40 on anybody with Will Grier. The Vols were simply the first team in line.

Michigan 35-0 halftime, looks like a scrimmage with a high school team. Just turned it on start of 3rd.
