obviously i agree that the word maam is innocuous, but she told him numerous times over several weeks to call her something else....presumably her name, we dont know. And the punishment was to write a sheet of the word maam......am i just missing cals celestial steam engine of manufactured outrage?

Maam is  the equivalent of Sir.  A respectful way to address someone older or senior to you in position such as a teacher.  She probably took it to mean she is old and got insulted.  Shmuck her.

My dad beat it in to my head that you always say maam and sir. I have only had old ladies lose their marbles over being called maam.
