The Gipper
Here is a survey on way too early predictions. I know some of you make season predictions just before the start of the regular season. And that is fine. If you say something here we would not hold it against you if you want to change your mind later. Give your answers or opinions: 1. Which, if any of the rookie QBs do you think will start game 1 of the season? 2. Who will be the teams that will meet in the AFC and NFC conference title games? 3. A. What 2-3 teams will take the biggest drop from last year's win total? B. What 2-3 teams will make the biggest improvement from last year's win total? 4. Who are your top 3-4 MVP candidates? 5. What team will end up with the #1 overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft?
The Gipper
My own answers: 1. Which, if any of the rookie QBs do you think will start game 1 of the season? Best chance in my mind are Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold. In AZ....Bradford is too unreliable healthwise. and for the Jets, McCown will start out in his role as mentor....not in role as starter. 2. Who will be the teams that will meet in the AFC and NFC conference title games? AFC: Jaguars vs. Chargers (Jags best defense in game....Chargers no slouch either. Bortles will come through.....and Rivers will have a chance, finally) NFC: Vikings vs. Falcons (Falcons overcome Super Bowl hangover from 2016, Vikings are just a good team....Cousins may prove to be worth it.) 3. A. What 2-3 teams will take the biggest drop from last year's win total? I actually think it will be the Eagles..who may still make the playoffs, but will be down to maybe 9-10 wins from 13. And the Kansas City Chiefs. Starting practically a rookie in Mahomes. I do not think that they will come anywhere near 10-6 again. B. What 2-3 teams will make the biggest improvement from last year's win total? Cleveland Browns...of course. No where to go but up. Houston Texans...if they stay healthy with Watt/Watson etc. And the Chicago Bears. Trubisky will show the way to a winning...or at least .500 season 4. Who are your top 3-4 MVP candidates? Aaron Rodgers, Phillip Rivers, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger. You must be a QB whose name begins with an R! Beyond them...don't sleep on RBs Gurley and Fournette. 5. What team will end up with the #1 overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft? A hard choice, as it will not be the Browns. Top Choice: Tampa Bay Bucs. The Winston thing will have this team a mess...and they weren't that good to begin with. Second: Colts...IF Luck cannot round into form. Third: Bengals....because they are the Bengals.
