Actually, it kind of does.  His availability is always in doubt.

Now, his comeback, with Hard Knocks (media on steroids) and all ... could be causing anxiety ... who knows?   Sympathy deserved.  But from a team fan's perspective, he's not to be counted on.

actually I was thinking along the same line That Josh just didn't want to deal with hard knocks

It blows my mind that there are still Browns fans excited by this guy.

I hope he gets his personal life fixed, I do.

But I'm more than ready to move on from him as a Browns player.

This may be TMI but for the hell of it I thought I would share anyway. I abused drugs and alcohol from the age of about 18 to 28. There was literally nothing I didn't try and I used daily. That and the impact it had on my life made me the very definition of an addict / alcoholic. A couple years of crack at the end helped get me to rehab sooner than many. I've been clean and sober now 28 years.

So now to the reason I shared that today. There were many things I had never done without being under the influence of something. Now the TMI, As an example I literally had never had sex without being blasted (yea started late at 18 lol). I remember the first time it was going to happen with a new girlfriend several months into being sober , I was fricking anxiety ridden to the point of potentially cancelling her visit to the house that night.  Trust me too, I LOVE SEX. I simply wasn't sure how to act in that situation being sober. I sought the support of a meeting and my sponsor and learned it was pretty damn normal for someone like me to feel like that.

Gordon loves football but he has really never played it sober. He hasn't faced training camp pressure, fans, teammates and high expectations for performance clean and sober literally ever in his adult life. As the stark reality of training camp and the impending season  set in he probably got more and more nervous about his ability to perform and more importantly his ability to cope. The fear of failure is likely gnawing at him. So now , in conjunction with the team he is addressing the concern proactively. I say this shows growth in his recovery and is a good sign!

In conclusion I predict he gets the additional support and lights it up this season just like i lit up that girl after my additional counseling LOL.

EXCELLENT post..Thank you & thank you for sharing on such a personal level.

It's very easy for others of us to post opinions when we haven't gone through what Josh is, but you've been there. Kudos to you.

Josh is our secret weapon. Shock and Awe is hard to come by when it's all broadcasted worldwide thanks to HBO.

Calling out an organization for having the health of a player as its priority is pathetic, even for you.

Dude....... this guy has had 3 years to get his "heath" in order. THIS IS A BULLSCHIDT COVER UP STORY MAN...........................For all he has been through, how does he jump on the opportunity to reclaim his career???????????????????? He remains unprepared. DOn't be a jackoff dude. THere is nothing wrong with the guys health.............. he needs an extra 7 days for the traces of weed smoking clear his blood.

Guilty. Can’t help it after seeing a WR, who actually played for my team, tear defenses a new pooper. I am coming around now letting him go. This story just sounds like he has screwed up again. If it was genuine and innocent, I have to believe we would have heard something well before now. Hope I’m wrong.

Yep, I guess I am. At least if I die tonight, it won't be as a suspicious, negative, cinical SOB.

Landry is a second tier WR. He isn't going to carry this team anywhere. Gordon is a joke. Buying another week to let his blood clear a bit for drug testing.

LOL, only a second tier WR that led the NFL in receptions last year, and is in the top 20 in yards. Second tier my a$$.

Regarding Gordon- straight from NFL.com :  While he didn't go into particulars, Gordon stated that current treatment, which will keep him away from the practice field, surrounding his well-being has been coordinated with the NFL, NFLPA and the Browns.

Right on.

Refresh my memory, but didn't he do something similar to this last year? Right before training camp was to begin, after he had been out of the league for god knows how long, he put himself into rehab?

"The Browns do not have a WR, RB, QB or TE that could start for any of last year's playoff teams, and likely not for 2/3s of the entire league."

That's exactly what you said- short attention span. The fact is Taylor did indeed start for the Bills in their playoff game. He was traded to the Browns- not cut. The only thing that's getting boring is your flamebating, ignoring facts and backtracking- trying to spin out of what you just posted.  And failing badly at it, I might add. Maybe I should ask Zombo to kick you off again for a week- you obviously haven't gotten the message.

Yep. Broken record that I keep trying to play.

From what it sounds like, this is not because he failed a test..

It's to get himself some extra counseling and treatment before he hits the spotlight..

It would make anyone nervous being around Hard Knocks.

A man like Gordon with his history? I don't think he wants to take that chance..

I'd like to see him out there sometime during training camp, but if its preseason or week 1, that's fine..

Please Josh.. NO MORE SUSPENSIONS!

28 freaking year of sobriety.  That's just incredible.

Anyone who has read my posts regarding Gordon knows I am sympathetic to addicts and I want nothing more than to see him succeed.  Every week for the past upteen years I've looked at my phone in the morning, DREADING seeing that negative Josh Gordon headline.  Too many times I saw it...right there...slapping me in the face.  I root for him more than any other player, and I desperately want him to overcome his demons.  For the fans, his family, and most of all...for himself.

I won't get into my specific reasons for this, but you guys can read between the lines well enough.  With Gordon's well-documented past, it's reasonable to expect so many fans to be extremely negative.  And you know what?  In honesty, their pessimism is probably accurate.  We all know the definition of insanity, right?  However, there's a chance, albeit possibly small, that this temporary absence is a GOOD THING.  Training camp, preseason, and regular games are steamrolling into the rear-view mirror, and it's safe to assume that Gordon is overcome by anxiety.  If he doesn't get a grip on his feelings and emotions now, there's no way he'll make it through the season, and more importantly, his life.  Make no mistake, this is likely his last chance at a career, at wealth, and financial stability for his family.  He MUST get this right, and that's a TON OF PRESSURE for any addict to handle.  The vast majority of addicts take multiple tries at sobriety before getting it right, and even then, there's a good chance for temporary relapse.  If Josh has a relapse, even for a day, his career and dreams are over.  That's a ton to live with, ya know?

Let's take a breath.  Hope to heck he's truly ok, and cross our fingers that we'll see him sooner than later.  Here's what we know:  Josh did NOT fail a test.  Josh is NOT suspended.  Josh said he won't be at the BEGINNING of camp, so it's safe to assume that he hopes to be in camp at some point.  Cmon Josh...you got this.

This hard knocks thing is a lot of pressure personally to a person.  My take is that he does not want to fall off the wagon and get documented.

He should have an escort counselor with him 24/7.

I have done My share of "abuse" when I was younger.. But I never let things get to a point its gonna destroy me or my life... However.. I think this a great move by Josh and the Browns in lieu of hard knocks.. It takes the focus off Josh... Hard knocks can focus on the players on the field and not following Josh around.. it makes sense to me...

Ghoolie doesn't even likely watch or follow football.   He didn't know that  TT was the starting QB for the Bills last year in the playoffs.   I don't think with that that he was flamebating or ignoring facts.   I just don't think he actually knows anything.
