The Gipper
This next few days is the time for big things in Gobbledygook sports: The Soccer World Cup is wrapping up. Wimbledon is wrapping up. The Tour de France is going on. The World Series of Poker Main Event is wrapping up. The baseball All Star Break is coming up. ESPN keeps giving us Summer League Basketball. Not sure why. Golf has like the John Deere Classic. There is like a Manny Pacquio fight.....a guy who should have retired years ago. So, a lot of fufarol before the real sports get underway: baseball pennant races and college and pro football. Though...to sort of wet the appetite, apparently the Rugby World Cup will be getting started in a week. Much more interesting perhaps than soccer WC. The Gipper
Of the 24 teams in that field, there are 6 from Europe, 5 from Australia/New Zealand/Oceania, 4 from Africa, and 3 form Asia, N.America, and S. America. (I don't know why there cannot just be a UK team...they have to break it down to England, Scotland/Wales)

France wins World Cup...in Soccer....but I bet that the Rugby WC will be more interesting. Serena loses (Kerber), Djokovic wins (but honestly... I would rather watch soccer than tennis) John Cynn wins Poker Main Event Pacquio beats up on some tomato can Even though I am related to John Deere, I don't know who won his golf tournament...but I will pay attention to the majors. Collin Sexton looks like a gem in those NBA summer games. Does anyone give a Sheet about a Tour de France? Now, if it were a Tour of America, that would be something worth paying a bit of attention to.

The Gipper
Francesco Molinari wins The (British) Open. He holds off the big names of Speith, McIlroy, and Tiger. He is the very first Italian to win one of the 4 Majors. But, you know, the thing about this guy is: He looks like a damn ringer for greasy actor Victor Mature
