"In addition to the trade threats, Todd C. Chapman, the United States ambassador to Ecuador, suggested in meetings with officials in Quito, the Ecuadorean capital, that the Trump administration might also retaliate by withdrawing the military assistance it has been providing in northern Ecuador, a region wracked by violence spilling across the border from Colombia, according to an Ecuadorean government official who took part in the meeting. "

this is hard to believe. Why on earth?

The irony here is we can't have a border, but we're assiting Ecuador to protect theirs from the same type of people we don't want here.  Smh.

It seems like an odd position to take, but if the worst thing this country does is push baby food on people, we'll be fine.

well, the donald now took ownership of what happened...

The failing NY Times Fake News story today about breast feeding must be called out. The U.S. strongly supports breast feeding but we don’t believe women should be denied access to formula. Many women need this option because of malnutrition and poverty.

This has a much longer history if you go back to the French company Nestle in 1974. There is a reference to it within this article by the same author. It was more sinister than you might have expected in 1974.

interesting stuff. im irritated tho that the msm is now turning this into a trump thing when we did something similiar in the phillipines years ago. i.forget the deets but we also threatened the phillipine govt over some anti baby formula campaign and some activists against those companies actually were murdered.

im deeply suspicious of whats actually in this baby food now. For over half a century we've been opposing socialist countries in south america by propping up the capitalist ones. and now over some fukking baby food we threaten an ally with tariffs and reduction/withdrawal of military aid? im nit buying that for a solitary second. and thw fact that multiple admins have been involved in this shows something deeper is going on.
